Operation of each component
Move the inside lock button to the lock position.
Close the door.
Vehicles without a smart key system
The door cannot be locked if the key is in the engine switch.
Vehicles with a smart key system
The door cannot be locked if the engine switch is in ACCESSORY or
IGNITION ON mode, or the electronic key is left inside the vehicle.
Depending on the position of the electronic key, the key may not be
detected correctly and the door may be locked.
The door cannot be opened from
inside the vehicle when the lock is

The following functions can be set or canceled:
For instructions on customizing, refer to P. 687.
■When all the doors are locked with the entry function (vehicles with a
smart key system), wireless remote control or key
The doors cannot be unlocked with the door lock switch.
The door lock switch can be reset by unlocking all the doors with the entry
function (vehicles with a smart key system), wireless remote control or key.
■ If a wrong key is used (vehicles with a smart key system)
The key cylinder rotates freely to isolate inside mechanism.
■ Customization
Settings (e.g. unlocking function using a key) can be changed.

CAUTION
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle.
Failure to do so may result in a door opening and an occupant throwing out
of the vehicle, resulting in death or serious injury.
● Ensure that all doors are properly closed and locked.
● Do not pull the inside handle of the doors while driving.
Be especially careful for the front doors, as the doors may be opened even
if the inside lock buttons are in locked position.
● Set the rear door child-protector locks when children are seated in the rear
seats.

activate, and the back door will
fully close automatically.
Turn the main switch in the glove
box off to disable the power back

Operative
The open position of the powe r back door can be adjusted.
Open the back door, and adjust it to the desired position.
Press and hold the power back door switch on the back door until
the buzzer sounds 4 times.

■Luggage compartment light
The luggage compartment light turns on when the back door is opened with
the luggage compartment light switch on.
■ If the back door open er is inoperative
The back door can be unlocked from the inside.
Push the lever for the back door motor. On

■Jam protection function (veh icles with a power back door)
If anything obstructs the power back door while it is closing/opening, the back
door will automatically operate in the opposite direction or stop.
■ When reconnecting th e battery (vehicles with a power back door)
To enable the power back door to operate properly, close the back door man-
ually.
■ Back door closer (vehicl es with a power back door)
In the event that the back door is left slightly open, the back door closer will
automatically close it to the fully closed position.
■ Fall-down protection function ( vehicles with a power back door)
While the power back door is opening automatically, applying excessive force
to it will stop the opening operation to prevent the power back door from sud-
denly shutting.
■ Back door closing assist (vehic les with a power back door)
If the back door is lowered manually when the back door is stopped at an
open position, the back door will fully close automatically.
■ Canceling the adjusted open position of the back door (vehicles with a
power back door)
Press and hold the power back door switch on the back door until the buzzer
sounds 4 times, pauses momentarily, and then sounds 2 times. The open
position is initialized to the fully opened position.
■ Customization (vehicles with a power back door)
Settings (e.g. power back door opening angle) can be changed.
