Pay attention to thefollowing points:•Check the EV cruising range in theinformation screen. Refer to “EV cruis-ing range display/Total cruising rangedisplay” on page 6-13.•Drive your vehicle at moderate speedsavoiding quick acceleration/decelera-tion. Repeated quick acceleration/decel-eration causes the drive battery level todecrease quickly, which extremelyreduces the EV cruising range.
zThe vehicle is driven by the motors onlyusing the electricity generated by theengine. This mode is used when the drivebattery level is low, at quick acceleration,or when power is required like climbinguphill. zThe vehicle is driven by the power of theengine, assisted by motors. This mode isused during high-speed driving with bet-ter engine efficiency.

zThe performance may be changed due tothe outside temperature.At low temperature, in particular, the EVcruising range is short and the chargingtime is long, compared to operation atnormal temperature.zThe battery is gradually discharged with-out use and the battery charge is lowered.zIt is not necessary to consume the batterycompletely before charging.zIf your vehicle is not used for a long time,check the drive battery level display every3 months.If the drive battery level display shows 0,charge the battery until some indicationappears. Since driving at highspeed or climbing on a hill requires higherconsumption of the drive battery thanusual, the EV cruising range is shortened.zSince the air conditioning (cooling orheating) consumes power of the drive bat-tery, its operation results in a shorter EVcruising range. Filling the fuel tank
WA R N I N GzWhen handling fuel, comply with thesafety regulations displayed by garagesand filling stations.zGasoline is highly flammable and explo-sive. You could be burned or seriouslyinjured when handling it. When refuelingyour vehicle, always
put the operation
mode of the power switch in OFF andkeep away from flames, sparks, and smok-ing materials. Always handle fuel in well-ventilated outdoor areas.zBefore removing the fuel cap, be sure toget rid of your body’s static electricity bytouching a metal part of the car or fuelpump. Any static electricity on your bodycould create a spark that ignites fuelvapor.
zPerform the whole refueling process(opening the fuel tank filler door, remov-ing the fuel cap, etc.) by yourself. Do notlet any other person come near the fueltank filler. If you allowed a person to helpyou and that person was carrying staticelectricity, fuel vapor could be ignited.zDo not perform chargi
ng and refueling at
the same time. If you charged with staticelectricity, fuel vapor could be ignited bythe discharge spark.zDo not move away from the fuel tank filleruntil refueling is finished. If you movedaway and did something else (for example,sitting on a seat) part-way through therefueling process, you could pick up afresh charge of st
atic electricity.
zBe careful not to inhale fuel vapor. Fuelcontains toxic substances.zKeep the doors and windows closed whilerefueling the vehicle. If they were open,fuel vapor could get into the cabin.zIf the tank cap must be replaced, use onlya MITSUBIHI MOTORS original part.WA R N I N G

zIf the connected part of the charging plughas been buried in snow while charging,turn off the hand switch or the breakerconnected with the outlet first, thenremove the snow and disconnect thecharging plug. zWhen you perform the normal charging ataway from home, some normal chargersmay not correspond to your vehicle. Con-sult an administrator or a maker of thenormal charger that it corresponds toyour vehicle before using it. The keyless operation system allows you tolock and unlock the doors and tailgate andstart the engine simply by carrying the key-less operation key with you.The keyless operation key can also be used asthe keyless entry system remote controlswitch.Refer to “Keyless entry system” on page 4-3.The driver should always carry the keylessoperation key. This key is necessary for lock-ing and unlocking the doors and tailgate,starting the engine and otherwise operatingthe vehicle, so before locking and leaving thevehicle, be sure to check that you have thekeyless operation key.
