For infants small enough for infants seats, usea Standards Association of Australiaapproved baby restraint. For small childrenwhose height when seated allows the shoul-der belt to lie in contact with the face or thethroat, a child seat should be used.

Children who have outgrown the childrestraint system should be seated in the rearseat and wear combination lap shoulder belt.The lap portion of the belt should be snug andpositioned low on the abdomen so that it isbelow the top of the hip-bone. Otherwise, thebelt could intrude into the child’s abdomenduring an accident and cause injury.

your passengers.

zBefore purchasing a child restraint system,try installing it in the rear seat to make surethere is a good fit. Because of the location ofthe seat belt buckles and the shape of the seatcushion, it may be difficult to securely installsome manufacturer’s child restraint systems.If the child restraint system can be pulledforward or to either side easily on the seatcushion after the seat belt has been tightened,choose another manufacturer’s child restraintsystem.

There is a supplemental restraint system(“SRS”) warning lamp on the instrumentpanel. The system checks itself every time theoperation mode of the power switch is put inON. The SRS warning lamp will come on forseveral seconds and then go out. This is nor-mal and means the system is working prop-erly.If there is a problem involving one or more ofthe SRS components, the warning lamp willcome on and stay on. At the same time, thewarning display will appear on the informa-tion screen in the mu
lti information display.
The SRS warning lamp/display is shared bythe SRS airbag and the seat belt pre-tensionersystem.

they may not function
properly in a colli-
sion or may suddenly
activate without a

or could render the
SRS inoperative; either situation couldresult in serious injury.
zDo not modify your steering wheel, seatbelt retractor or any other SRS compo-nents. For example, replacement of thesteering wheel, or modifications to thefront bumper or body structure (forexample fitment of a frontal protectionbar, including roo bars and bull barsexcept approved MITSUBISHI MOTORSGENUINE accessory parts) can adverselyaffect SRS performance and lead to possi-ble injury.zIf your vehicle has received any damage,we recommend you to have the SRSinspected to ensure it is in proper workingorder.zDo not modify your front seats, centre pil-lar and centre console.It can adversely affect SRS performanceand lead to possible injury.zIf you found any tear, scratch, crack ordamage to the portion where the airbag isstored, you should h
ave the SRS inspected

However, we recom-mend that you pay extra attention to the fol-lowing:Before starting the vehicle, make sure thatyou and your passengers have fastened yourseat belts.zNever leave your vehicle unattended withthe key and children inside the vehicle.Children may play with the driving con-trols and this could lead to an accident.zMake sure that infants and small childrenare properly restrained in accordance withthe laws and regulations, and for maxi-mum protection in case of an accident.zPrevent children from playing in the lug-gage compartment. When loading luggage, be careful not to loadabove the height of seats. This is dangerousnot only because rearward vision will beobstructed, but also the luggage may be pro-jected into the passenger compartment underhard braking.

Turn the wheel nuts clockwise by hand toinitially tighten them.[Type 1: On vehicles with steel wheels]Te m p o r a r i l y t i g h t e n t h e w h e e l n u t s b yhand until the tapered parts of the wheelnuts make light contact with the seats ofthe wheel holes and the wheel is notloose.[Type 2: On vehicles with aluminiumwheels]Te m p o r a r i l y t i g h t e n t h e w h e e l n u t s b yhand until the flange parts of the wheelnuts make light contact with the wheeland the wheel is not loose.
8. Lower the vehicle slowly by rotating thewheel nut wrench anticlockwise until thetyre touches the ground.
9. Tighten the nuts in the order shown in theillustration until each nut has been tight-ened to the torque listed here.Tightening torque 88 to 108 N•m
10. On vehicles with wheel covers, install the
covers (refer to “Wheel covers” on page9-18).
11. Lower and remove the jack, then store the
jack, flat tyre, and chocks. Have yourdamaged tyre repaired as soon as possi-ble.
CAUTIONzNever apply oil to either the wheel bolts orthe nuts or they will tighten too much.

zOn vehicles with aluminium wheels, if all 4aluminium wheels are changed to steelwheels. e. g. when fitting winter tyres, usetapered nuts.

a pipe extension for
