zDo not drive on a flooded road. If youdrive on a flooded road, not only the Plug-in Hybrid EV System stops but also a fail-ure like electric leakage or short circuitmay occur.If you inevitably had to run on a floodedroad and the vehicle was exposed towater, be sure to have your vehicleinspected by a MITSUBISHI MOTORSAuthorised Service Point.zIf there is water on the brakes after driv-ing through puddles or washing the vehi-cle, resulting in temporarily ineffectivebrakes. In such cases, lightly depress thebrake pedal to see if the brakes operateproperly. If they do not, lightly depressthe pedal several times while driving inorder to dry the brake pads.zWhen driving in rain or on a road withmany puddles a layer of water may formbetween the tyres and the road surface.This reduces a tyre’s frictional resistanceon the road, resulting in loss of steeringstability and braking capability.To c o p e w i t h t h i s , o b s e r v e t h e f o l l o w i n gitems:
zWhen driving on a snow-covered or fro-zen road, it is recommended that you usesnow tyres or snow traction device (tyrechains).Refer to the “Snow tyres” and “Snowtraction device (tyre chains)” sections.zAv o i d h i g h - s p e e d o p e r a t i o n , s u d d e nacceleration, abrupt brake application andsharp cornering.zDepressing the brake pedal during travelon snowy or icy roads may cause tyreslippage and skidding. When tractionbetween the tyres and the road is reducedthe wheels may skid and the vehicle can-not readily be brought to a stop by con-ventional braking techniques. Brakingwill differ, depending upon whether youhave anti-lock brake system (ABS). Asyour vehicle is equipped with ABS, brakeby pressing the brake pedal hard, andkeeping it pressed.zAllow extra distance between your vehi-cle and the vehicle in front of you, andavoid sudden braking.
zAccumulation of ice on the braking sys-tem can cause the wheels to lock. Pullaway from a standstill slowly after con-firming safety around the vehicle.
Drive as slow as possible when driving onbumpy or rutted roads.This vehicle is intended for driving mainlyon roads with firm surface.4WD system makes possible driving on roadswithout special coverage, on flat and firmsurface. Please, remember that off-road abil-ity of your vehicle is limited. Your vehicle isnot intended for driving in heavy off-road,overcoming the rugged terrain, deep ruts, etc.
On a flooded road (a)Drive your vehicle at a slow speed.(b)Do not drive on worn tyres.
(c)Always maintain the specified tyre infla-tion pressures.
On a snow-covered or frozen road
CAUTIONzDo not press the accelerator pedal rapidly. Ifthe wheels break free of the ice, the vehiclecould suddenly start
moving and possibly
cause an accident.
On a bumpy or rutted road
CAUTIONzThe impact on tyres and/or wheels whendriving on a bumpy or rutted road can dam-age the tyre and/or wheel.

Adequate care of your vehicle at regularintervals serves to preserve the value andappearance as long as possible.Maintenance items as described in thisowner’s manual can be performed by theowner.We r e c o m m e n d y o u t o h a v e t h e p e r i o d i cinspection and maintenance performed by aMITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorised ServicePoint or another specialist.In the event a malfunction or a problem isdiscovered, we recommend you to have itchecked and repaired. This section containsinformation on inspection maintenance pro-cedures that you can do yourself. Follow theinstructions and cautions for each of the vari-ous procedures.Service precautions

zNever touch the high-voltage parts in theengine compartment. Never remove ordisassemble the high-voltage components,cables (orange) or connectors. Also, neverdisassemble normal ch
arging cables, nor-
mal charge connector, plugs or outlet.Failure to observe this instruction couldcause an electric shock which result in aserious injury or death. These parts havelabels that indicate handling precautions.Follow the instruction on these labels.Contact a MITSUBISHI MOTORSAuthorised Service Point for any neces-sary maintenance.Refer to “High-Voltage components” onpage 2-7.zWhen checking or servicing the inside ofthe engine compartment, make sure theplug-in hybrid EV system is switched offand has had a chance to cool down.zIf it is necessary to do work in the enginecompartment with the plug-in hybrid EVsystem starting, be especially careful thatyour clothing, hair, etc., does not becomecaught by the cooling fans, drive belts, orother moving parts.zThe cooling fans can turn on automati-cally even if the plug-in hybrid EV systemis stopping. Put the operation mode of thepower switch in OFF to be safe while youwork in the engine compartment.WA R N I N G

Wiper blade rubber replacement

2. Pull the wiper blade until its stopper (A)disengages from the hook (B). Then, pullthe wiper blade further to remove it.
3. Attach the retainers (C) to a new wiperblade.Refer to the illustration to ensure that theretainers are correctly aligned as youattach them.4. Insert the wiper blade into the arm, start-ing with the opposite end of the bladefrom the stopper. Make sure the hook (B)is fitted correctly in the grooves in theblade.
5. Push the wiper blade until the hook (B)engages securely with the stopper (A).1. Lift the wiper arm off the window glass.2. Pull the wiper blade downward to disen-gage it from the stopper (A) at the end ofthe wiper arm. Pull the wiper blade fur-ther to remove it.
NOTE
zDo not allow the wiper arm to fall onto thewindscreen; it coul
d damage the glass.
NOTE
zIf retainers are not supplied with the newwiper blade, use the retainers from the oldblade.
