Jump starting procedure
1. Make sure the booster battery is 12-volt
and that its negative terminal is ground- ed. 2. If the booster battery is in another vehi-
cle, do not allow the vehicles to touch.
3. Turn off all unnecessary electrical
loads.
4. Connect the jumper cables in the exact sequence shown in the illustration. First
connect one end of a jumper cable to
the positive terminal of the discharged
battery (1), then connect the other end
to the positive terminal on the booster
battery (2). Proceed to connect one end
of the other jumper cable to the nega-
tive terminal of the booster battery (3),
then the other end to a solid, stationary,
metallic point (for example, the engine
lifting bracket) away from the battery
(4). Do not connect it to or near any part
that moves when the engine is cranked.
Do not allow the jumper cables to con-
tact anything except the correct battery
terminals or the correct ground. Do not
lean over the battery when making con-
nections.
5. Start the engine of the vehicle with the booster battery and let it run at 2,000
rpm, then start the engine of the vehi-
cle with the discharged battery.
If the cause of your battery discharging is
not apparent, we recommend that thesystem be checked by an authorizedHYUNDAI dealer.
Push-starting
Your manual transaxle-equipped vehicle
should not be push-started because itmight damage the emission control sys-
tem. Vehicles equipped with automatic
transaxle cannot be push-started. Follow
the directions in this section for jump-
starting.
WARNING
Never tow a vehicle to start it
because the sudden surge forward
when the engine starts could cause
a collision with the tow vehicle.
CAUTION - Battery cables
Do not connect the jumper cable
from the negative terminal of the booster battery to the negative ter-minal of the discharged battery. This
can cause the discharged battery tooverheat and crack, releasing bat- tery acid.
CAUTION -AGM battery (if equipped)
 Absorbent Glass Matt (AGM) bat-
teries are maintenance-free andwe recommend that the system
be serviced by an authorizedHYUNDAI dealer. For chargingyour AGM battery, use only fully
automatic battery chargers that are specially developed for AGMbatteries.
 When replacing the AGM battery, we recommend that you use parts
for replacement from an author- ized HYUNDAI dealer.
 Do not open or remove the cap on top of the battery. This may cause
leaks of internal electrolyte thatcould result in severe injury.
 If the AGM battery is reconnected or replaced, ISG function will notoperate immediately.
If you want to use the ISG func-tion, the battery sensor needs tobe calibrated for approximately 4 hours with the ignition off.

minate for 3 seconds when the igni-tion switch is turned to the ON posi-
tion or engine is running, or if it
comes on after blinking for approxi-
mately one minute, we recommendthat you contact an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.Low tire pressure tell- tale
When the tire pressure monitoring
system warning indicator is illuminat-
ed, one or more of your tires is sig-nificantly under-inflated.
If the telltale illuminates, immediately
reduce your speed, avoid hard cor-
nering and anticipate increased stop-
ping distances. You should stop and
check your tires as soon as possible.Inflate the tires to the proper pres-
sure as indicated on the vehicle’splacard or tire inflation pressure label
located on the driver’s side center pil-
lar outer panel. If you cannot reach a
service station or if the tire cannot
hold the newly added air, replace the
low pressure tire with the spare tire.
Then the Low Tire Pressure telltale
may flash for approximately one
minute and then remain continuously
illuminated after restarting and about
20 minutes of continuous driving
before you have the low pressure tire
repaired and replaced on the vehicle.CAUTION
In winter or cold weather, the low tire pressure telltale may beilluminated if the tire pressure was adjusted to the recom-mended tire inflation pressurein warm weather. It does notmean your TPMS is malfunction- ing because the decreased tem-perature leads to a proportionallowering of tire pressure.
When you drive your vehiclefrom a warm area to a cold areaor from a cold area to a warmarea, or the outside temperatureis greatly higher or lower, you should check the tire inflationpressure and adjust the tires tothe recommended tire inflation pressure.

Changing a tire with TPMS
If you have a flat tire, the Low Tire
Pressure will come on. We recom-
mend that the flat tire be checked by
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.Each wheel is equipped with a tirepressure sensor mounted inside the
tire behind the valve stem. You must
use TPMS specific wheels. It is rec-
ommended that you have your tires
serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
Even if you replace the low pressure
tire with the spare tire, the Low Tire
Pressure Telltale will blink or remain
on until the low pressure tire is
repaired and placed on the vehicle.
After you replace the low pressure
tire with the spare tire, the Low Tire
Pressure Telltale may blink or illumi-
nate after a few minutes because theTPMS sensor mounted on the sparewheel is not initiated.
Once the low pressure tire is reinflat- ed to the recommended pressure
and installed on the vehicle or we
recommend that the TPMS sensormounted on the replaced spare
wheel be initiated by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer, the TPMS mal-
function indicator and the low tire
pressure telltale will extinguish within
a few minutes of driving.If the indicator is not extinguished
after a few minutes of driving, Werecommend that the system be
checked by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
CAUTION
If original mounted tire is
replaced with the spare tire, theTPMS sensor on the replaced spare wheel should be initiatedand we recommend that theTPMS sensor on the original mounted wheel be deactivatedby a HYUNDAI dealer. If theTPMS sensor on the original mounted wheel located in thespare tire carrier still activates,the tire pressure monitoring system may not operate proper-ly. We recommend that the sys-tem be serviced by an author- ized HYUNDAI dealer.CAUTION
We recommend that you use apuncture-repairing agentapproved by HYUNDAI.
The sealant on the tire pressuresensor and wheel shall be elem- inated when you replace the tirewith a new one.

Always check the TPMS malfunction telltale after replacing one or more
tires or wheels on your vehicle toensure that the replacement or alter-
nate tires and wheels allow the
TPMS to continue to function proper-
ly.

When the tire pressure monitoring
system warning indicators are illumi-
nated, one or more of your tires is
significantly under-inflated. The lowtire pressure position telltale light willindicate which tire is significantly
under-inflated by illuminating the cor-responding position light.
If either telltale illuminates, immedi-

tor may be illuminated if thevehicle is moving around elec-tric power supply cables orradios transmitter such as at police stations, governmentand public offices, broadcast-ing stations, military installa- tions, airports, or transmittingtowers, etc. This can interferewith normal operation of the Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem (TPMS).
 The TPMS malfunction indica- tor may be illuminated if snowchains are used or some sep- arate electronic devices suchas notebook computers,mobile charger, remote starter or navigation etc., are used inthe vehicle. This can interferewith normal operation of the Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem (TPMS).
CAUTION
We recommend that you use thesealant approved by HYUNDAI.The sealant on the tire pressure sensor and wheel shall be elim-inated when you replace the tirewith a new one.

You may not be able identify a low
tire by simply looking at it. Alwaysuse a good quality tire pressuregauge to measure the tire's inflation
pressure. Please note that a tire that
is hot (from being driven) will have ahigher pressure measurement than atire that is cold (from sitting station-
ary for at least 3 hours and driven
less than 1 mile (1.6 km) during that
3 hour period).
Allow the tire to cool before measur-
ing the inflation pressure. Always be
sure the tire is cold before inflating to
the recommended pressure.
A cold tire means the vehicle has
been sitting for 3 hours and driven forless than 1 mile (1.6 km) in that 3
hour period.CAUTION
If the TPMS sensor on the origi-nal mounted wheel located inthe spare tire carrier still acti- vates, the tire pressure monitor-ing system may not operateproperly. We recommend that the system be serviced by anauthorized HYUNDAI dealer.
WARNING - TPMS
 The TPMS cannot alert you to severe and sudden tire dam-
age caused by external fac-
tors such as nails or roaddebris.
 If you feel any vehicle instabil- ity, immediately take your foot
off the accelerator, apply the
brakes gradually and with
light force, and slowly move to
a safe position off the road.
CAUTION
We recommend that you do not
use any tire sealant except theTire Mobility Kit approved by HYUNDAI if your vehicle isequipped with a Tire PressureMonitoring System. The liquid sealant can damage the tirepressure sensors.

compartment.
Pull up the luggage box cover to reach this equipment.

Jacking instructions
The jack is provided for emergency
tire changing only.
To prevent the jack from “rattling”
while the vehicle is in motion, store it
properly and fasten the jack screw
fully.
Follow jacking instructions to reduce
the possibility of personal injury.

WARNING - Changing tires
 Never attempt vehicle repairs in the traffic lanes of a public
road or highway.
 Always move the vehicle com- pletely off the road and onto
the shoulder before trying to
change a tire. The jack should
be used on firm level ground.
If you cannot find a firm level
place off the road, call a tow-
ing service company for
assistance.
 Be sure to use the correct front and rear jacking posi-
tions on the vehicle; never
use the bumpers or any other
part of the vehicle for jacking
support.

If you have a tire gauge, remove the
valve cap and check the air pressure.
If the pressure is lower than recom-
mended, drive slowly to the nearest
service station and inflate to the cor-
rect pressure. If it is too high, adjust
it until it is correct. Always reinstall
the valve cap after checking or
adjusting tire pressure. If the cap is
not replaced, air may leak from the
tire. If you lose a valve cap, buyanother and install it as soon as pos-
sible.
After you have changed wheels,
always secure the flat tire in its place
and return the jack and tools to their
proper storage locations. To prevent the jack, jack handle,
wheel lug nut wrench and spare tire
from rattling while the vehicle is in
motion, store them properly.CAUTION
Your vehicle has metric threads
on the wheel studs and nuts.Make certain during wheel removal that the same nuts thatwere removed are reinstalled -or, if replaced, that nuts with metric threads and the samechamfer configuration are used.Installation of a non-metric thread nut on a metric stud orvice-versa will not secure thewheel to the hub properly andwill damage the stud so that it must be replaced.
Note that most lug nuts do nothave metric threads. Be sure touse extreme care in checking for thread style before installingaftermarket lug nuts or wheels.If in doubt, we recommend thatyou consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
WARNING - Wheel studs
If the studs are damaged, they
may lose their ability to retain
the wheel. This could lead to theloss of the wheel and a collisionresulting in serious injuries.
WARNING - Inadequate
spare tire pressure
Check the inflation pressures as
soon as possible after installing
the spare tire. Adjust it to the
specified pressure, if necessary.
