been left open.

As soon as the door, the hood and the trunk lid are closed properly, the door and trunk lid warn ing tu rns off and the selected dr iver info r­

Service interval display
The service interval display reminds you when your next
service is due.

The schedule for the next oil change or inspection is calculated auto ­
matically and displayed accordingly . The disp lay works in two stages :
Service remind er
30 days before the next serv ice is due , a serv ice reminder appears in
the display when you turn on the ignition=> fig. 13.
After abo ut S seconds the d isp lay switches back to norma l. The
distance and time remaining are updated each t ime the ignition is
turned on until the date due for service is reached.
Ser vice due
When the due date for service is reached, the message Servic e due !
appears in the instrument cluster immediately after you turn on the ..,,

ignition. Additionally, a warning tone sounds. After about S seconds
the display switches back to normal.
Calling up the service schedules
If or when an oil change or inspection is due, can be shown in the
radio or MMI* display by selecting the service interval display in the
car menu. Select
I CAR]> Service interval display .
Resetting the service interval display
Your authorized Audi dealer will reset the corresponding service
schedule after performing the appropriate service on your vehicle.
You also have the possibility to reset the oil change schedule after
having performed an oil change according to Audi specifications .
Select
I CAR]> Service interval display > Reset oil change interval.

If you disconnect the battery termina ls, no calculat ions can be made
for the serv ice interval display dur ing this time and no service
reminder will appear. Remember that observing the proper service
intervals is vitally important to extending the life of your veh icle,
particularly the engine, and maintaining its value . Even if the mileage
dr iven is low, the maximum period of one year from one service to the
next must not be exceeded.

• Do not reset the display between oil changes, otherwise the
display will be incorrect.
• The information in the Service Reminder remains stored even
when the vehicle battery is disconnected .•

On-Board Diagnostic system (OBD)
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
The Malfunct ion Indicator Lamp (MIL) in the instrument cluster
=>
page 12, fig. 7 is part of the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD II) system.
Th e warning/indicator light illuminates when the ignition is switched
on and goes out after the engine starts and the idle has stabilized.
This indicates that the MIL is working properly.
If the light does not go out after the engine is started, or illuminates
whi le you are driving, a malfunction may exist in the engine system.
If the light illuminates, the catalytic converter could be damaged.
Continue driving
with reduced power (avoiding sustained high
speeds and/or rapid accelerat ions) and have the condition corrected.
Contact your authorized Aud i dealer .
If the light illuminates, the electronic speed limiter may also be
malfunction ing. For more information=>
page 22, "Electronic speed
limiter".
An improperly closed fuel filler cap may also cause the MIL light to
illuminate
=> page 2 76. •

The following information is continuously evaluated by the trip
computer and can be displayed sequentially in the instrument cluster
display:
Fuel range
The estimated cruising range in miles (km) appears in the display .
This tells you how far your vehicle will be able to travel on the current
tank of fuel and with the same driving style . The display changes in
increments of 6 miles (10 km).
The cruising range is calculated based on the fuel consumption for
the last 18 miles (30 km). If you drive conservatively, the cruising
range will increase.
Average fuel mileage
The average fuel economy in MPG (l/100 km) s ince you last cleared
the memory appears in this disp lay. You can use this display to adjust
your dr iv ing techn ique to ach ieve a desired mileage.
Current fuel mileage
The instantaneous fuel consumption in miles per ga llon {l/100 km) is
shown in this display. You can use this display to adjust your driving
technique to achieve a desired mileage .
Fuel consumption is recalculated at intervals of 33 yards (30 meters).
This display switch es to gallons/hour (liters/hour) when the vehicle is
not moving .
Average speed
The average speed in mph (km/h) since the last time the display was
reset appears in the display.
Elapsed time
Th e length of time that you have been driving since you last reset the
memory appears in this display.
Distance
The d istance that has been covered since the last time the memory
was cleared appears in the display .

You can tell which memory level is currently active by the number in
the display => fig. 17. The data from the single-trip memory (memory
level 1) is being displayed if a
1 appears in the display . If a 2 is shown,
t hen the data from the total-trip memory is being displayed (memory
level 2) .
Single-trip memory (Trip computer 1)
The sing le-trip memory stores the trip information from the t ime the
ignition is turned on until it is turned off. If the trip is continued
within 2 hours from the time the ignit ion was turned off, the new
data will be included in the calculation of the current trip informa-

Speed warning system
Overview
The speed warning system helps you to keep your driving
speed below a set speed limit.
The speed warning system warns if the driver exceeds a previously
stored maximum speed. A warning tone will sound as soon as the
vehicle speed exceeds the set speed by about 3 mph (3 km/h) . At the
same time, a warning symbol appears in the display. The symbol 's
appearance might be different in some models .
The speed warning system has
two warning thresholds that function
independently of each other and that have somewhat different
purposes:
Speed warning 1
You can use speed warning 1 to set the maximum speed while you are
driving. This setting w ill remain in effect until you turn off the igni­
tion, assuming that you have not changed or reset the setting .
The speed warning symbo l
0 (USA models)/0 (Canada mode ls) in
the warning 1 display appears when you exceed the maximum speed .
It goes out when the speed falls be low the stored maximum speed.
The speed warning symbol will also go out if the speed
exceeds the
stored maximum speed by more than about 25 mph
(40 km/h) for at
least
10 seconds. The stored maximum speed is deleted.
Setting speed warning 1

Speed warning 2
Storing warning 2 is recommended if you always want to be reminded
of a certain speed, for example when you are travel ing in a country
that has a general maximum speed limit, or if you do not want to
exceed a specified speed for winter tires.
The speed warning 2 symbol,

Even though your veh icle is equipped with a speed warn ing system,
you should still watch the speedometer to make sure you are not
dr iv ing faster than the speed limit.•

Storing the maximum speed
- Drive at the desired maximum speed.

The speed warning symbol '8 (USA models) /8 (Canada models) will
appear briefly in the display when you release the
I SETJ button to
indicate that the maximum speed has been stored successfully .
The maximum speed remains stored until it is changed by pressing
the
I SETJ button again briefly or until it is deleted by a lengthy push
on the button .•
Speed warning 2: setting a speed limit
The /11/111* or the radio control unit is used to set, change
or delete warning threshold 2.
- Select: Function button I CAR]> Instrument cluster>
Speed warning.
• Speed warning -the warning threshold can be turned on or off .
• Speed warning -a warning tone will sound if you exceed the speed
you have set.
Warning threshold 2 can be set in the speed range starting from
18
mph to 150 mph (30 km/h to 240 km/h). Settings can each be
adjusted in intervals of 6 mph (10 km/h). •
Auto Check Control
Introduction
The Auto-Check control monitors the function of certain vehicle
features and components. It simply makes sure these features and
components are working properly. The Auto-Check control works as
long as the ignition is on, as well as whenever the veh icle is driven.
If a component is malfunctioning or if the need for an urgent repair
has been detected, this will appear in the instrument cluster display.
You will also hear an audible warning tone. The displays are color
coded in e ither red or yellow depend ing on their level of priority . A
red symbol means
Danger, a yellow symbol indicates Warning . In
certain situations, information message for the driver appear in addi­
tion to the red and yellow symbols.
Th e Auto-Check Contro l will automatically perform a test each time
you switch on the ignition. With the selector lever in
P or N, the
following message appears in the display:
When stationary apply footbrake while selecting gear.
When you a select a different gear (for example: R, D, etc.), the
message will disappear and the Auto-Check function is displayed.
If there is a malf unction, then the malfunction message will appear
about 15 seconds after you start the vehicle. At the same time you
w ill hear a wa rning tone. •
Driver information messages
Driver information messages are shown in the instru­
ment cluster display in addition to symbols.

The functions are selected in the radio or in the MMI.

Com ing home
The coming home function ensures that after
tu rning off the ignition
and op ening th e driver' s door
the vehi cle periphery is illum inated i n
the dark . In addition, the front fog lights, the ta il lights and the
license p late ligh t are tu rned on. The power-on time can be set for a
per iod from O (off) to 60 seconds .
Leaving home
The leaving home funct ions ensures that
when unlocking , the vehicle
per iphery is illuminated in t he da rk. In addi tion, the front fog l igh ts,
the tai l lights and t he license p late light are turned on . This function
can be tu rned on and off.
Automatic driving ligh ts*
W hen the light switch is in the AUTO=> page 62 position, the switch­
on point of the l ights can be changed in the automatic driving light
function.
Daytime running lights*
T he daytime running light s ca n be tu rn ed on o r off using this f unc­
tion. If the funct ion is active, the dayt ime runn ing lights are turned
on a utomat ica lly when the ignition is switched on.
In the vers ions for some co unt ries it is not poss ible to switc h off the
daytime running lights or they may not have daytime running lights.

The coming home/ leaving home f unction is avai lab le only with the
switch in the AUTO position .•
Daytime running Lights (DRL) (USA models)
T he daytime running lights are turned on au tomatically
w hen the ignition is switched on.
On vehicles w ith xenon lights the daytime running lights will come on
autom atically when the ig ni tio n is t urned on and t he lig ht switch

xenon lights and halogen lamps:
• On vehicles with b i-xenon lights only the dayt ime running lamps in

• On vehicles with halogen lights the front fog lights, side marker
lights and tail lights come on automatically.

Xenon headlights
After starting the engine, the xenon head lights are automat ically
adjusted to the load and ang le of t he vehicle (for e xamp le, dur ing
acce leration and brak ing) . This prevents oncom ing traffic from expe ­
r ienc ing unnecessary headlight glare from yo ur xenon head lights.

Check Control is displayed~

When driving around bends, the headlights are contro lled accord ing
t o s teer ing whee l angle . So t hat there is no bla ck ho le ahea d of the
vehicle , the two ma in beams pivot at d ifferent angles.
