Power top
Have a second person assist when positioning the power top. That
person should stand on the opposite side of the vehicle and perform
the same steps.
& WARNING
• When positioning the power top, avoid contact with the
supports or other moving parts. Otherwise you could pinch your
hands.
• When pressing the power top down onto the windshield frame,
make sure that you do not pinch yourself or anyone else. •
Step 6: Retracting the power top
compartment cover
The power top compartment cover must be retracted by
hand.

Step 7: Locking the power top
The locking system for the power top latches are located
on the inside of the power top.

- Insert the emergency key in the opening and turn it clock­
wise until it stops to lock the power top.
- Remove the emergency key.
- Cover the opening with the cap.

Make sure the locking mechanisms are locked securely. •

Perform the following steps in the rear window area of the
power top on each side.
- Pull the loops (marked in yellow) with the emergency key
to loosen the headliner.
- Pull at the yellow marking again to loosen the headliner
around the rear window (approximately 30 cm).

Com ing home
The coming home function ensures that after
tu rning off the ignition
and op ening th e driver' s door
the vehi cle periphery is illum inated i n
the dark . In addition, the front fog lights, the ta il lights and the
license p late ligh t are tu rned on. The power-on time can be set for a
per iod from O (off) to 60 seconds .
Leaving home
The leaving home funct ions ensures that
when unlocking , the vehicle
per iphery is illuminated in t he da rk. In addi tion, the front fog l igh ts,
the tai l lights and t he license p late light are turned on . This function
can be tu rned on and off.
Automatic driving ligh ts*
W hen the light switch is in the AUTO=> page 62 position, the switch­
on point of the l ights can be changed in the automatic driving light
function.
Daytime running lights*
T he daytime running light s ca n be tu rn ed on o r off using this f unc­
tion. If the funct ion is active, the dayt ime runn ing lights are turned
on a utomat ica lly when the ignition is switched on.
In the vers ions for some co unt ries it is not poss ible to switc h off the
daytime running lights or they may not have daytime running lights.
(I) Tips
The coming home/ leaving home f unction is avai lab le only with the
switch in the AUTO position .•
Daytime running Lights (DRL) (USA models)
T he daytime running lights are turned on au tomatically
w hen the ignition is switched on.
On vehicles w ith xenon lights the daytime running lights will come on
autom atically when the ig ni tio n is t urned on and t he lig ht switch

The interior lights include the reading lights for the driver
and the front passenger.

- Press the button @. The LED in the button illuminates.

- Press the button @. The LED in the button goes out.
Front r eading lights ~
- Press one of the switches @ to turn the right or left
reading light on or off.
With the door contact circuit, the interior lights turn on as soon as
you unlock the vehicle or open the doors. The interior lights are also turned on when the
ignition key is removed. The lights turn off about
30 seconds after the doors are closed . When the vehicle is locked or
when the ign ition is turned on, the inter ior lights are turned off.
When a door is open, the interior lights are turned off after about 10
m inutes to prevent battery dra ining.
The brightness of the lights is controlled automatically by a dimmer
when they are sw itched on and off. •
Rear interior lights
There are reading lights in the rear for the passengers.

Moving the front seats forward
- Press a nd ho ld the switch @ until th e seat has r eached t he
desir ed p osition .
Moving front seats back
-Press and ho ld t he switc h@ until th e seat has reached t he
des ired position. The seat stops a utomatically when it has
reached its starting position again .
To make it easier to enter and leave the rear seat , t h e seatbacks of the
front sea ts ca n be folded forward and the he ad restraints are a uto ­
matically lowered . At the same time, the front seats can be moved
forward and back.
W hen the front seats a re moved forward, their or ig inal position is
sto red . When it is moved back, the seat automat ically stops in this
posit io n. T o move the seat even further b ack, you have to release the
switch @ and reactivate it.
T he head rest raints from the front sea ts, depending on t he se at
height that has been set, a re a utomatically retracted when t he seat­
backs are folded down. They return to their or iginal position again
when the sea tbacks for the fron t seats a re ra ised .
(I) Tips
With the driver 's o r passenger's door closed, the corresponding
switch to move the seat is inoperative. •

Memory for driver's seat
The seat adjustment settings for t wo drivers can be
stored using the memory buttons in the driv er's door .

Seat memory
In additio n to the setting for the driver's seat, the exterior rear v iew
m irror setting ca n be stored and reca lled throug h seat memory if the
veh icle is properly equipped.
Storing and recalling settings
With the he lp of the memory b uttons 1 a nd 2 ~ fig. 83 the settings
for two different drivers can be stored and recalled~
page 81.
The cur rent settings are also automatically stored on the remote
c o ntrol key being used when the vehicle is locke d. Whe n the vehicle is
unlocked, the settings stored on the remote contro l key being used
are autom atic ally re calle d.
Turning seat memory on and off
If the [ ON/OFF ] switc h is depressed , th e seat memo ry is inoperative.
The word
OFF in the [ ON/OFF] sw itch illuminates .
All the stored setti ngs are retained . We recommend using the
I O N/OFF ] switch and deact ivating the seat memory if the vehicle is .,

only going to be used temporarily by a driver whose settings are not
going to be stored. •

Storing and recalling settings
Before you can store or recall your settings, the [ ON/OFF]
switch on the seat memory must be engaged (not raised).
Storing settings
- Adjust the driver's seat.
- Adjust the two exterior mirrors .
- Press the
I SETI button and hold it down. In addition, press
one of the memory buttons for at least one second .
- Release the buttons. The settings are now stored under
the corr esponding memory button .
Recalling settings
- If the driver's door is open, tap the corresponding memory
button briefly .
- If the driver's door is closed , press the appropriate
memory button unt il the stored position is reached .
Successful storage is confirmed audibly and by the light in the [SET)
button illuminat ing=> page 80, fig . 83 .
When the vehicle is
loc ked , the current settings are stored and
ass igned to the remote contro l key. B ut the setti ngs sto red on
memory buttons 1 to 2 are not deleted. They can be reca lled at any
time. When the vehicle is
unlo ck ed , the settings stored on the
remote control key are restored.
If your vehicle is driven by other persons using your remote control
key , you should save your individua l seat position on one of the

memory buttons. You can recall your settings again simply and
conveniently by press ing the cor responding memory button. When
the vehicle is locked, these settings are automatically re-assigned to
the remote control key and stored.

The backrest must be secure ly latched so obje ct s cannot slide
forward out o f the luggage compartment dur ing sudden braking.

When fold ing t he backrest forward, make sure the rear safety be lts
are in the belt guides so they do not become pinched in the backrest
lock and damaged . Othe r objects should be removed from the rear
bench seat to protect the backrest from damage. •

To close glove compartment
-Push t he glove compartment lid upward until the lock
engages.
T here are holders for a pen and a pad of paper in the glove compart­
ment lid .
On the right side in the glove compartment is a holder with the key
body into which the emergency key must be clipped to be able to start
the vehicle.

To reduce the risk o f personal injury in an accident o r sudden stop ,
always keep the glove compartment closed while driving. •
