E00401100289
The heated seats can be operated
with the ignition switch in the
“ON” position. Operate the switch as indicated by arrows. The indication lamp (A) will illuminate while the heater is on.1- Heater high (for quick heating). 2- Heater off.3- Heater low (to keep the seat warm).
CAUTION
!●
Switch off seat heat
ers when not in use.
●
Operate in the high positi
on for quick heating. Once
the seat is warm, set the
heater to low to keep it
warm. Slight variations in
seat temperature may be
felt while using the heated
seats. This is caused by
the operation of the heater’s
internal thermostat and
does not indicate a malfunction.
●
If the following types of p
ersons use the heated seats,
they might become too ho
t or receive minor burns
(red skin, heat blisters, etc.):• Children, elderly or ill people • People with sensitive skin • Excessively tired people • People under the influe
nce of alcohol or sleep
inducing medication (cold medicine, etc.)
●
Do not place heavy objects on the seat or stick pins, needles, or other poin
ted objects into it.
●
Do not use a blanket, cushio
n, or other material with
high heat insulation prop
erties on the seat while
using the heater; this migh
t cause the heater element
to overheat.
●
When cleaning the seat,
do not use benzene, gaso-
line, alcohol, or other organic solvents; this might damage the surface of the
seat and also the heater
element.
●
If water or any other liquid
is spilled on the seat,
allow it to dry thoroughly
before attempting to use
the heater.
●
Turn the heater off immediately if it appears to be malfunctioning during use.CAUTION

sh the button on the buckle.
NOTE●
As the belt retracts automatically, keep the latch plate held while retracting so that the belt stows slowly. Failure to dothis could damage the vehicle.
Seat belt reminder/warning lamp
E00409800338
The seat belt warning lamp is located on the instrument panel.A tone and warning lamp are used to remind the driver to fas- ten the seat belt. When the ignition key is turned to the “ON” position, the warn- ing lamp will illuminate and a tone will sound for about 6 sec- onds. If the driver’s seat belt remains unfastened for approximately 1 minute later, the warning lamp will flash andthe tone sound intermittently (each 12 times) when the vehicle is driven. If the driver subseq
uently unfastens the seat belt
while driving, the warning lamp and tone will issue furtherwarnings. And if the seat belt remains unfastened, the warning lamp and tone will issue further
warnings each time the vehicle
starts moving from a stop. When
the seat belt is fastened, the
warnings will stop.
WARNING
!●
Never wear the lap portio
n of the belt across your
abdomen. During accident
s it can press sharply
against abdomen and increa
se the risk of injury.
●
The seat belts must not be twisted when worn.

Seat belt pre-tensioner system and force
limiter system
E00405700081
The driver’s seat and front passenger’s seat each have a seat belt equipped with a pre-tensioner system.Pre-tensioner system
E00405800747
The pre-tensioner system will re
tract their respective seat belts
instantaneously, thus maximizing the seat belt’s effectiveness, if there is a frontal impact severe enough to injure the driver and/or front passenger and the ignition switch is in the “ON” or“START” position.
WARNING
!●
Seat belts work for everyone, including pregnant women. Pregnant women should use the available seat belts. This will reduce the likelihood of injury to both the woman and the unborn child. The lap beltshould be worn across the
thighs and as snug against
the hips as possible, but not across the waist. Consult your doctor if you have
any additional questions or
concerns.
WARNING
!●
To obtain the best results from your pre-tensioner seat belt, make sure you
have adjusted your seat
correctly and wear your seat belt properly.CAUTION
!●
Installation of audio equipment or repairs in the vicinity of the pre-tension
er seat belts or floor con-
sole must be performed in line with MITSUBISHI MOTORS guidelines. It is important to do so because the work could aff
ect the pre-tensioner sys-
tems.

How the supplemental restraint system works
E00407300922
The SRS includes the following components:
The airbags will operate only when the ignition switch is in the “ON” or “START” position. The airbags deployment produces
a sudden, loud noise, and
releases some smoke and powder,
but these condi
tions are not
injurious, and do not indicate a fire in the vehicle. People with respiratory problems may feel some temporary irritation fromchemicals used to produce the deployment; open the windows after airbag deployment,
if safe to do so.
The airbags deflate very rapidl
y after deployment, so there is
little danger of obscured vision.

Front passenger’s airbag ON-OFF switch
E00410100070
The front passenger’s airbag
ON-OFF switch can be used to
disable the front passenger’s ai
rbag. If you have a rearward
facing child restraint system that cannot be fitted to any seat other than the front passenger seat, be sure to turn OFF thefront passenger’s airbag ON-OFF switch before using it. (Refer to “To turn an airbag off” on page 2-64.) The front passenger’s airbag ON-OFF switch is located in theglove box.
Front passenger’s airbag OFF indication lamp
E00411500026
The front passenger’s airbag of
f indicator is located in the
instrument panel. The indicator normally illuminates when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position, and goes off a few seconds later. When the front passenger’s airb
ag ON-OFF switch is turned
OFF, the indicator will stay on to show that the passenger front airbag is not operational. When the front passenger’s airb
ag ON-OFF switch is turned
ON, the indicator goes off to show that the front passenger’s airbag is operational.

WARNING
!●
Do not fit any accessory
that makes the indicator
impossible to see, and do
not cover the indicator
with a sticker. You would no
t be able to verify the
status of the passenger airbag system.
WARNING
!●
To reduce risk of serious or fatal injury:• Always remove the key from the ignition switch before operating an ai
rbag ON-OFF switch. Fail-
ure to do so could advers
ely affect the airbag per-
formance. • Wait at least 60 seconds
to operate the airbag ON-
OFF switch after turning
the ignition switch from
the “ON” position to the “LOCK” position. The SRS airbag system is designed to retainenough voltage to deploy the airbag. • Always remove the key from an airbag ON-OFF switch after operati
ng that switch. Failure to do so
could lead to improper posi
tion of the airbag ON-
OFF switch. • Do not turn OFF the front passenger’s airbag ON-OFF switch except when
a rearward facing child
restraint system is fitt
ed to the front passenger
seat.• If the indicator does not illuminate when the front passenger’s airbag ON-OFF
switch is turned OFF,
do not fit a rearward facing child restraint systemto the front passenger seat. We recommend you to have the system inspected by a MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized
Service Point.
• If the indicator remains
on when the front passen-
ger’s airbag ON-OFF switch is turned ON, do not allow anyone to sit on the front passenger seat. Werecommend you to have th
e system inspected by a
MITSUBISHI MOTORS
Authorized Service
Point.

To turn an airbag off, follow these steps: 1. Insert the key into the airbag ON-OFF switch, and turn it
to the “OFF” position.
2. Remove the key from the key opening of that airbag ON-
OFF switch.
3. Insert the key into the ignition switch, and turn the igni-
tion to the “ON” position. The front passenger’s airbagOFF indication lamp will stay on.
The front passenger’s airbag is
now deactivated and will not
deploy until switched on again.
Driver’s and passenger’s front airbag system
E00407400372
The driver’s airbag is located
under the padded cover in the
middle of the steering wheel. Th
e front passenger’s airbag is
contained in the instrument panel above the glove box. The driver’s airbag inflates at
two different rates according to
the severity of the impact. The front passenger’s airbag de
ploys at the same time as the
driver’s airbag, even if the passe
nger seat is not occupied, and
inflates at two different rates
according to the severity of the
impact.

SRS warning lamp
E00407800129
There is a supplemental restra
int system (“SRS”) warning lamp
on the instrument panel. The sy
stem checks itself and the lamp
tells you if there is a problem.
When the ignition key is turned
to the “ON” or “START” position, the warning lamp shouldilluminate for several seconds and then should go out. This means the system is ready. If
an SRS airbag or pre-tensioner
seat belt is not operating properly, the warning lamp illumi-nates and stays on. The SRS warning lamp is shared by the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and the
seat belt pre-tensioner system.
WARNING
!●
Do not put a hanger or any heavy or pointed object on the coat hook.If the curtain airbag was
activated, any such item
could be propelled away with great force and could prevent the curtain airbag
from inflating correctly.
Hang clothes directly on
the coat hook (without
using a hanger). Make sure there are no heavy or sharp objects in thepockets of clothes that you
hang on the coat hook.
●
Do not allow the child to lean against or close to the front door even if the ch
ild is seated in a child
restraint system. The child’s head should also not be leaned against orbe close to the area where the side airbag and cur- tain airbag are located. It
is dangerous if the side
airbag and curtain airbag inflates.Failure to follow all these
instructions
could lead to
serious or fatal injury to the child.
●
We recommend work around and on the side air- bags and curtain airbags system to be done by a MITSUBISHI MOTORS Auth
orized Service Point.
