Warning displays
The warning displays indicate the dis-
tance between the sensor and the ob-
stacle.
The warning display for the front area is
located on the middle of the dashboard
above the center console.

The selector lever position determines
whether the front and/or rear area is
monitored.One or more segments light up as the
vehicle approaches an obstacle, de-
pending on the vehicle’s distance from
the obstacle.
From the:

sixth segment, an intermittent warn-
ing tone sounds for approximately
2seconds
\4
seventh segment, a continuous
warning tone sounds for approxi-
mately 2 seconds. You have reached
the minimum distance.
Roll-back warningParktronic automatically begins to mon-
itor the area behind the vehicle if the ve-
hicle begins to roll backwards without
reverse gear engaged, e.g. after stop-
ping on an uphill gradient.
If Parktronic detects an obstacle no
more than 31 in (80 cm) away,\4
all the segments of the warning dis-
plays light up

a continuous warning tone sounds as
the vehicle approaches the obstacle
and for a further 2 seconds after the
vehicle has come to a halt

Switching Parktronic on/off You can switch Parktronic on and off
manually.
The switch is located on the center con-

Trailer towingIf you attach a trailer, Parktronic is deac-

hicle on a separate monitor located on
the center console.

you engage reverse gear.

The angle and inclination of the monitor
can be adjusted from inside the storage
compartment on the center console.1

The rear view camera is only an aid and
may display potential obstacles in a ske-
wed perspective, incorrectly or not at all.
This system does not relieve you of your
obligation to pay attention.The camera is not able to display all ob-
jects which may be located in the immedi-
ate vicinity\4of the rear bumper\4underneath the rear bumper.

The rear view camera will not provide you
with advance warning of a collision, per-
sons or objects. You are always respon-
sible for safety and must continue to pay
attention to your immediate surroundings
when parking and maneuvering. This ap-
plies not only in the area to the rear of
your vehicle, but also in the area in front
of and to the side of it.

you fail to notice persons or objects and,
by continuing to drive, cause injury to per-
sons or damage to objects and your vehic-
le. The manufacturer recommends that
you also use the Parktronic system* when

which you are maneuvering your vehicle.
They could otherwise be injured.

poorly lit location\4the camera is exposed to very bright

cent light (the monitor display could
start to flicker)

Activating the rear view camera

tons located on a panel at the bottom of
the screen.

Input for auxiliary devices (AUX)If reverse gear is engaged while auxiliary
devices are in operation, the monitor will
switch over to the rear view camera.
When reverse gear is disengaged, the
monitor will continue to show the rear
view camera screen for approx.
15 seconds before switching back to the
input for auxiliary devices (AUX).
Switching the monitor offIf the monitor was switched on by enga-
ging reverse gear, it will switch off auto-
matically approx. 15 seconds after
reverse gear is disengaged. You can
switch the monitor off by pressing the ;
button. If you do this, the following
message will appear for 7 seconds be-
fore the monitor goes off.
Adjusting the volume

The volume of the built-in loudspea-
ker is adjusted in steps.
The volume of the infrared headphones,
which can be purchased as an optional
extra, is adjusted directly on the head-
phones.

switch the volume control off.
