PH I L I P S H I - F I S Y S T E M
Your vehicle may be equipped with a Philips Hi-Fi system, specially designed to fi t in with your cabin interior.
It consists of :
- A DSP (Digital Signal Processing) high power digital amplifi er,
- A low subwoofer box (30Hz – 100 Hz),
- 8 Philips-specifi c loudspeakers,
- an MP3 reader.
Adjustment in CD or radio mode
The basic functions remain the same as those for the radio.
No extra adjustment is necessary.
However, to profi t fully from your Philips system, you are recommended to adjust the audio functions: bass (Bass), treble (Treb), front/rear balance (Fad), left/right balance (Bal) to position O, Loudness (Loud) to position ON for listening to a CD and to position OFF for listening to the radio.
Your system also gives you Dolby wrap-around sound for Pop, Rock and Classical.
Note : In the event of poor reception of the FM stereo signal and/or the mono source, deactivate the sound a mbiances.

Refuelling
1. Press on the the control Asituated on the control panel on the left hand side. The fuel fl ap automatically opens up.
2.Take care to select the pump that corresponds to the correct fuel type for your vehicle.
3. Introduce the nozzle so as to push in the metallic gate valve B.
4. Make sure that the nozzle is pushed in as far as possible before starting to refuel (risk of blowback).
5. Maintain this position throughout the refuelling operation.
6. Push the fuel fl ap to reclose it.
If you are fi lling your tank to the top, do not persist after the third cut-off ; that could cause your vehicle to malfunction.
FUEL QUALITY
A label affi xed to the inside of the fuel fl ap indicates the fuels that are authorised.
UNLEADED PETROL
DIESEL FUEL
The petrol engines are designed to run on RON 95.
However, for better vehicle per-formance (petrol engines), we rec-ommend RON 98.
After switching off the ignition, the control A is Aactive for only a few min-utes. If necessary, switch on the ignition again to reactivate it.
If you have put in fuel that is wrong for your vehicle, it is essential to have the tank drained before you start the engine.
F U E L
Fuel cut-off switch
Your vehicle is equipped with a safety device which cuts off the fuel supply in the event of a collision.
The petrol or diesel engine of your vehicle is fi tted with a catalytic converter, a device which helps to reduce the level of harmful emis-sions in the exhaust gases.
For petrol engines, unleaded fuel is obligatory.
The fi ller neck is narrower, permit-ting unleaded petrol only.

This operation should only be performed when the vehicle is stationary.
To unlock the bonnet, pull towards you the control A located under the dashboard.
Note : the driver’s door has to be open for you to be able to action the control.
Move the lever B,located at the top of the grille to the right of the chevrons, then raise the bonnet.
Bonnet stay : detach the stay Cand pivot it upwards to insert it into the notch.
To close the bonnet
Move the stay C back to its initial position, lower the bonnet until it is horizontal, then allow it to slam shut.
Check that the bonnet is locked.
Avoid opening the bonnet in high winds.

Air fi lter
Follow the instructions given in the Maintenance Guide.
If intervening under the bonnet when the engine is hot, even when the vehicle is stationary and the ignition switched off, be aware that the cooling fan could operate at any time.
Check the engine oil level frequently between each routine service visit, as well as before starting long journeys.
Engine coolant
The coolant level should be between the MIN. and MAX. marks on the expan-sion chamber.
If the engine is hot, wait 15 minutes for it to cool down.

Never intervene on the cooling system of an engine that is hot(See «Levels»).
12V battery
See “Emergency starting with a slave battery”.
Engine oil
Check the oil level with the vehicle parked on horizon-tal ground, with the engine having been switched off for at least 15 minutes.
Quality : See the Maintenance Guide. Brake fl uid
The brake fl uid level should be between the MIN. and MAX. marks on the reservoir.
Should the warning lamp come on while you are driving, stop imme-diately and contact a CITROËN while you are driving, stop imme-while you are driving, stop imme-

This fl uid should be changed peri-odically. If the fl uid is too old it can lead to a loss of effi ciency.
Pull out the manual dip-stick.
The level should be be-tween the MIN. and MAX. marks on the gauge.
It must never exceed the maximum.

Radiator - coolant fl uid
Checking the level and topping-up with coolant should always be done with the engine cold.
Engine hot
Wait fi fteen minutes or for the engine temperature to fall below 100°C, then slowly undo the cap to allow the pressure to drop, pro-tecting yourself with a cloth for example.
Topping up the engine oil
Take out the dipstick before fi lling. Check the level after fi lling.
The maximum mark must never be exceeded.
Do up the cap before closing the bonnet.

Note : for vehicles with a particle fi lter, the cooling fan can operate as long as ten minutes after the engine has stopped.

Screen wash fl uid
It is essential to have suffi cient wash fl uid, particularly if your ve-hicle has Xenon dual-function di-rectional headlamps.

Draining water from the fuel fi lter
Bleed on a regular basis (at every oil change).
To evacuate the water, slacken the bleed screw or the water-in-diesel-fuel sensor, which is located at the base of the fi lter.
Persist until water ceases to fl ow out.
Then retighten the bleed screw or the water-in-diesel-fuel sensor.

Protection cover
HDi 138 engine
Remove the protection cover by fi rst unclipping point 1, then 3 and 4. Detach point 2 by pulling towards you, then lift.
To reposition the protection cover, attach point 2 fi rst. Lower the cover, keeping it centred. Clip points 1 and 4, pushing vertically and slightly rearwards. Clip point 3pushing down vertically.

Priming the circuit
In the event of running out of fuel :
- After fi lling (minimum 5 litres), action the manual priming pump , until some resistance is felt.
- Then action the starter, gently pressing the accelerator until the engine starts.
If the engine fails to start at the fi rst attempt, wait 15 seconds before trying again.
If the engine fails to start after a few attempts, repeat the procedure from the beginning. When the engine is idli ng, accelerate gently to complete the purge of the circuit.
