Never adjust the lumbar support while the vehicle is moving. If you
adjust your seat while the vehicle is moving, you will be out of
position. Always adjust the lumbar support when the vehicle is
not moving. •
Head restraints
Adjusting head r estraints , front seats
The head restraints must be adjusted properly to provide
protection.

head restraint:
adjusting the height
The head restraints on the front seats can be adjusted to
provide safe support to head and neck at the optimum
height. When optimally adjusted, the top of the restraint
should be level with the top of the head=:>
page 132,
"Proper adjustment of head restraints".
Raising head restraint
-Grasp the side of the head restraint with both hands. -
Adjust the head restraints so that the top of the head
restraint is
at least level with your eyes or higher
=:> fig. 85.
Lowering head restraint
- Grasp the sides of the head restraint with both hands.
- Press the button=:> fig. 85 and adjust the head restraint.
- Adjust the head restraints so that the top of the head
restraint is
at least level with your eyes or higher
=:> fig. 85.
Refer to=> page 132, "Proper adjustment of head restraints" for
guidelines on how to adjust the height of the front head restraints
to fit the occupant's body size.
& WARNING
• Driving without head restraints or with head restraints that are
not properly adjusted increases the risk of serious or fatal neck
injury dramatically.
• Read and heed all WARNINGS =>
page 132.

Correctly adjusted head restraints and safety belts are an extremely
effective combination of safety features .•

Luggage compartment
Applies to vehicles: with pass-through and removable ski bag
Pass-through with Ski Bag
Using the pass-through and the removable ski bag, you
can transport long objects (e.g. skis) neatly and without
damaging the interior.

-To unlock it, pull the handle and fold the cover of the
pass -through to the trunk=> fig. 86.

- Flip the cover upward in the direction of the arrow.
- Open the trunk lid.
- Push the ski bag from the trunk through the opening in
the rear wall

- Load up the ski bag.
Securing
Hook the ski bag's safety strap @=>fig. 87.
Adjust the retaining strap® to the desired length.
- Clip the retaining strap.
Storage
- Unhook the ski bag's safety strap@=> fig. 87.
- Fold the cover => fig. 86 downward in the opposite direc-
tion of the arrow .
- Loosen the retaining strap @.
Pull the ski bag backward through the rear wall.
- Close the cover of the pass-through to the trunk.
- Close the flip cover to the storage compartment between
the seatbacks => page
97.
- If necessary , collapse the ski bag.
& WARNING
After loading, the ski bag must be secured w ith the safety strap.

& WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident and personal injury .
• Never carry any beverage containers with hot liquids , such as
hot coffee or hot tea , in the veh icle while it is moving . In case of an
accident, sudden braking or other vehicle movement , hot liquid
could spill , causing scalding burns . Spilled hot l iquid can a lso
c ause an ac cident and per sonal injury .
• Use only soft cups in the cupholder . Hard cups and glasses can
cause injury in an accident .
• Never use the cupholder or adapter as an ashtray -risk of fire.

Only drink containers with lids should be carried in the cupholder.
Liquid cou ld spill out and damage your ve hicles electronic equip ­
ment or stain the upholstery, etc. •
Ashtray
Opening the ashtray
-Slide t he cover open.
Removing ashtray insert

- Press the asht ray insert back into i ts hol der.
& WARNING
Never put waste paper in the ashtray . Hot ashes or other hot
objects in the ashtray could set waste paper on fire .•

Cigarette lighter/socket
Cigarette lighter
The socket of the cigarette lighter may be used for 12 volt
appliances.

The cigarette lighter or socket only work with the ignition
on.
Using the cigarette lighter
- Slide the cover open to reach the c igarette lighter.
- Push the knob=> fig. 90 in .
- Wait until the cigarette lighter knob pops out.
- Remove the cigarette lighter immediately and use it.
- Reinsert cigarette lighter into the socket after use.
Connecting an appliance
- Slide the cover open to reach the cigarette lighter.
- Remove cigarette lighter.
- Plug in appliance to be used .

The socket of the cigarette lighter may be used for 12-volt appli­
ances with maximum consumption of up to 100 watts , such as a
flash ligh t, small vacuum cleaner, etc.
Before you purchase any accessories, always read and follow the
information in=>
page 296, "Additional accessories and parts
replacement" .
& WARNING
Improper use of the cigarette lighter can cause serious injury or
start a fire.
• Be careful when using the cigarette lighter. If you do not pay
attention to what you are doing when you are using the cigarette
lighter you can burn yourself.

To avoid damaging the socket, only use plugs that fit properly.

• When the engine is off and accessories are still plugged in and
are on, the vehicle battery can still be drained.
• The vehicle battery must not be charged with a standard small
charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter or outlet .•

not put away could slide around inside the vehicle while driving or

when accelerating or when applying the brakes or when driving
around a corner.
• When you are driving make sure that anything you may have
placed in the center console or other storage locations cannot fall
out into the footwells . In case of sudden braking you would not be
able to brake, depress the clutch or accelerate. •
Glove compartment
The glove compartment is illuminated and can be locked .

- Pull the handle=> fig. 91 in the direct ion of the arrow
push down lid to the fully open position.
To close glove compartment
Push the glove compartment lid upward until the lock
engages.
You will find a glass case in the lid .
CD changer*
The CD changer for the Sound System is located in the glove
compartmen t.

To reduce the risk of personal injury in an accident or sudden stop,
always keep the glove compartment closed while driving. •

Storage compartment in the front seats
There is a fold-out storage compartment in the front of the
seats.
Opening
- Lift the handle and pull the drawer ou t.
Closing
- Push the drawer in completely until it latches.

The pollutant filter (particle filter) ensures that contaminants in the
outside air (such as dust or po llen) are grea tly reduced or stopped.
T he air is also filtered in recirculation mode.
The pollutant fil ter e lement must be changed according to the inter ­
vals specified in the maintenance schedu le so that the air condi­
tioning system's performance is not adversely affected.
If the fil ter's effectiveness is weakened by driving the vehicle in
areas with heavi ly polluted outside air, the filter element should also
be changed in between the listed services .

• I f you suspect that the climate contro ls have been damaged ,
switch the system off to avoid damaging it , and have it inspected by
an authorized Audi dealer.
• Audi climate control system repairs require specia l expertise and
the proper tools. You shou ld contact an authorized Audi dealer in
the event of malfunct ions.
[ i ] Tip s
• To avoid adversely affecting heating and cooling performance
and to prevent condensation on the windows, the air intake in front
of the windsh ield must be free of ice, snow, and leaves.
• The air coming from the vents and circu lating through the en tire
interior is extracted through the out let slots in the side panels in the
luggage compartment. Make sure that the outlet slots are not
covered by clo th ing, etc.
• Climate control works most effectively if the windows are closed .
However , if the interior o f a parked vehicle is extremely hot from the
sun's rays, briefly opening the windows can speed up the cooling
process. •

Manual air recirculation mode[~]
The recirculation mode prevents polluted outside air from
entering the vehicle interior.
Switching on air recir culation
- Press the button [19.] ~ page 98, fig . 93 ~ & .

[AUTO I button, or
- Press the[@] button.
In recircu lation mode, air is drawn from the vehic le interior, filtered,
and recircu lated. We recommend that you se lect recircu lat ion mode
briefly ~ & under the fo llowing conditions:
When driving through a tunnel or i n a traffic jam so that exhaust
fumes and odors cannot enter the vehic le interior .
& WARNING
You should not u se the re circulat ion mode for an e xtended period
s ince no fre sh air i s drawn in , and with the air conditioning
s wit ched off the windows can fog up -this in crea se s the ris k of an
accident !•
A /C operation [AC)
Switching on A /C
- Press th e [AC] button~ page 98, fig. 93 .
Switching A /C off
- Press the [AC] button again.
The cooling system is switched on during A/C operation - the
heating and ven tilation system is controlled automatica lly.
I i ] Tips
If the LED in the switch stays on after A/C operation has been
switched off( = switching the A/C offl, there is a fau lt in an air condi ­
t ioning component. Please consult an authorized Audi dealer when
there is an operating prob lem .•
Air vents
Air d istribution determines the air flow fro m the indi ­
vi dual vents.
