Reverser
d Warning:
Avoid steep and uneven road
surfaces when reversing.
Take great care to maintain
your balance when reversing
on wet, slippery, uneven,
unpaved or muddy surfaces.
Engage the reverser only
when the motorcycle is at a
standstill and do not press the
starter pushbutton while en-
gaging the reverser.
Do not simultaneously press
the pushbutton for the elec-
tro-hydraulic centre stand.

Rules for reversing:
– No passenger
– You must be seated on the motorcycle
– Keep both feet on the ground
– Keep your feet well clear of the footrests on both sides
– Keep both hands on the
handlebar grips
– Make sure side stand and
main stand are both fully
retracted (

Do not operate the reverser for

Cruise controlOE
d Warning:
Do not engage cruise control
when:
– Riding on twisty roads with poor forward vision
– Heavy traffic does not per-
mit you to maintain a con-
stant road speed
– Riding on wet, unpaved or dirty roads
The motorcycle might exceed
your chosen cruise control
speed if the engine's braking
effect is insufficient on a
downhill gradient. It could
also drop below this speed
when you ride uphill.
For safety reasons, always
keep both hands on the han-
dlebars.
L Note:
With automatic cruise control,
speed can be controlled in the
range between 40 and
160 km/h (25 and 100 mph).
When the motorcycle is at a
standstill and – ignition OFF –
the system is switched off and
the stored road speed is can-
celled.
The telltale light for cruise con-
trol is off.
On a motorcycle fitted with
BMW Integral ABS, the cruise-
control system is not operation-
al if the brake light is defective
(red general warning light
