Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit
different from that to which the receiver is
connected.
 Consult the dealer or an experienced radio / TV
technician for help.

Replacing the battery
When you replace the battery, prepare a lithium battery
CR1616 or equivalent and a special screwdriver.
CAUTION
Special care should be taken to prevent small children
from swallowing the removed battery or components.
NOTICE
When replacing the battery, be careful not to lose the components, screws and O-ring.
Replace only with the same or equivalent typerecommended by a Lexus dealer.
Dispose of used battery according to the local laws.

1. Remove the screw, and then the cover while pushing it in
the arrow direction.

2. Remove the module from the key frame.

3. Remove the 2 screws to take out the lid of the module.
4. Take out the discharged battery and put a new battery with
the positive side up.

NOTICE
Make sure the positive side and negative side of thebattery are faced correctly.
Do not replace the battery with wet hands. Water may
cause unexpected rust.
Do not touch or move any components inside of the transmitter, or it may interfere with proper operation.
Be careful not to bend the electrode of the batteryinsertion and that dust or oils do not adhere to theinside of the module.
Take care not to lose the screws and O-ring.
5. Install the lid with the 2 screws.
NOTICE
Take care not to damage or bend the O-ring wheninstalling.
6. Install the module into the key frame and secure the cover
with the screw.
7. When pushing any switch on the wireless key, make sure
the indicator light comes on.

Locking with key

Turn the key towards the front of the vehicle to lock and
towards the back to unlock.
Locking (or unlocking) the driver's door will lock (or unlock) all
the other doors simultaneously. In the driver's door lock,
turning the key once will unlock the driver's door and twice in
succession will unlock all doors simultaneously.*
Together with the activation of unlocking, the interior light will
turn on for 15 seconds if the interior light switch is in the
ºDOORº position.** However, this function does not work
when the ignition key is in the ºONº position. For further
information, see ºInterior lightº on page 61.

NOTE: *The 2-step unlocking function can be changed.**The interior light can be set not to come on or the durationof lighting can be changed. Ask your Lexus dealer for details.
Locking with inside lock button

Push in the lock button to lock and unlock the door.
The front doors can be opened by pulling the inside handles
even if the lock buttons are in the locked position.
CAUTION
Do not pull the inside handle of the front doors while
driving. The doors will open and an accident may occur.
Lexus strongly recommends that all children be placed
in the rear seat of the vehicle.
Closing the door with the lock button pushed in will also lock
the door. Be careful not to lock your keys in the vehicle. The
door will not lock if the key is left in the ignition switch when
closing the front doors.
CAUTION
Before driving, make sure the doors are closed and
locked, especially when small children are in the
vehicle. Along with the proper use of seat belts, locking
the doors helps prevent the driver and passengers from
being thrown out from the vehicle during an accident.
It also helps prevent the doors from being opened
unintentionally.

Locking with power door lock switch

To lock all the doors simultaneously, push the power door
lock switch down on the front side. Pushing down on the
rear side will unlock them.
The same switch is also located on the front passenger's side.
Setting the auto door locking and unlocking
functions
You can set the following auto door locking and unlocking
functions.
(a) Locking linked with the shift position (Automatic
transmission only)
All the doors are locked automatically when the selector lever
is moved out of the ºPº position with the engine running. (b) Unlocking linked with the shift position (Automatic
transmission only)
All the doors are unlocked automatically when the selector
lever is moved to the ºPº position with the ignition switch in the
ºONº position.*
NOTE:
*This function is the default setting for new vehicles.
(c) Locking linked with the vehicle speed
All the doors are locked automatically when the vehicle speed
reaches 20 km/h (12 mph) or higher. However, if any door is
unlocked during driving, this auto locking function will not
operate until the unlocked door is opened once.*
NOTE:*This function is the default setting for new vehicles.
(d) Unlocking linked with opening the driver's door
All the doors are unlocked automatically when the driver's door
is opened within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned
from ºONº to the ºACCº or ºLOCKº position.*
NOTE:*This function is the default setting for new vehicles.
Setting the functions
1. Close all the doors.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ºONº position.
3. Within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the
ºONº position;

To set function (a)
Push and hold the front of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector lever in the ºPº position.
 To set function (b)
Push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector lever in the ºPº position.
 To set function (c)
Push and hold the front of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector lever in any position except ºPº.
 To set function (d)
Push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector lever in any position except ºPº.
All the doors are automatically lock and unlock when you
release the power door lock switch. This indicates that the
function is set. If all the doors do not lock and unlock, the time
the switch was held may have been too short or too long.
Perform the procedure over again starting from step 1.
If you want to cancel a function, repeat the procedure. Each
time you perform the procedure, the function is set or
cancelled.
Locking with rear door child-protector

Whenever small children are in the vehicle, lock the rear
door so that it does not open from the inside. To do this,
turn the knob to the ºLOCKº position as shown and then
close the door.

To open the back door from the outside, push up the back
door opener and raise the door.
If the back door will not open even pressing the back door
opener, press it again.
When opening the back door, make sure that the back door will
not come down by itself.
The back door can be opened when the vehicle is stopped.
The back door can be locked or unlocked in the following ways.
 Operate the power door lock switch. (See ºDoorsº on page
20.)
 Operate the wireless remote control. (See ºWireless
remote controlº on page 13.)
 Locking (or unlocking) the driver's door will lock (or unlock)
all the other doors simultaneously. In the driver's door lock,
turning the key once will unlock the driver's door and twice in succession will unlock all doors simultaneously.
If the battery terminal is disconnected and reconnected, the
back door will be automatically locked. Be careful not to lock
your keys in the vehicle.

When closing the back door, the inside handle can be
used to make the reach easier.
To close the back door, lower it and press down on it. After
closing the back door, try pulling it up to make sure it is securely
closed.
When closing the back door, make sure it is securely closed.
See ºCargo and luggageº on page 275 for precautions in
loading luggage.
CAUTION
 Keep the back door closed while driving. This not
only keeps the luggage from being thrown out but
also prevents exhaust gases from entering the
vehicle.
 If the open back door hides the rear stop and tail
lights or rear turn signal lights while you are parked,
other road users must be warned of the presence of
your vehicle by a warning triangle or other device.
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the back door dampers, do not
apply any force, paint or let any other foreign matter onthem.
