DISMOUNTING
Disconnect the battery.
Lift the vehicle by means of an elevator with
two column. Dismou nt :
- the wheel
- the brake disk assembly together with
the flexible connection;.
- the transmission gear nut.
- the brake disk a ssembly by means by
means of the PF 600 extractor.
Continue by dismounting t he steering
knuckle, observing the operations sequence: - dismount the steering ball joint nut;
- depre ss the steeri ng ball joint by
means of the PF 476 extractor;
- dismount the t wo screws that attach
the steering knuckle on the shock absorber; - dismount the attachment screws that
attach the steering ball joint – steering knuckle;
- detach the steering knuckle.

Lift the vehicle in the part where perfo rming
the dismounting. Dismo unt :
- the wheel
- the two lower a ttachment screws of
the shock absorber leg (1 ).
- the two upper a ttachment screws of
the shock absorber on the carriage body (2).
T ake out the assembly spring – shock
absorber, by pressing on the lower arm in
order to avoid the shock absorber came in
contact with the transmission bellows.
SEPARATE SPRING FROM SHOCK ABSORBER
Place t he shoc k absorbe r on t he shoc k
absorber support (4), of the base plate (3) of
the SU S 600 device.
Place the compression plate (7) on the spring
upper catch and position t he rods gri ps (8) on
the spring lower last but one coil. Com p re ss t he sp ri ng by a l t e rna t i ve l y
tightening the nuts (9) till release it from the lower
plate of t he shock absorber. Dismo unt the upper attachment nut of the shock
absorber by means of the SUS 601 wrench.
T ake out the spring.
Place the spring on the SUS 600 de v ice shaft (2).
P ut on the shaft the lock bushing (6), the spacer (5), and tighten to the required moment t he
crank (1) till the lock bushing (6) comes into contact with the upper catch of the shock absorber.
U nscrew alternatively the nuts (9) and take out the plate (7 ) and the rods grips (8).
Release the spring by means of the crank (1) and detach from the shaft (2), the upper catch of
the shock absorber, the upper plate, a nd the spring.

the brake rigid piping of the brake cylinder.
Loosen the connections of the
secondary cable from the hand brake levers
and remove the cable from the brake plates.

arm, after previously both arms protectors
have been dism oun ted . Di
smount the lower attachment screws (A)
of the shock absorber with the re ar axle. Push upward the shock absorbers.
Di smount the springs.
Dism ount the conn ecting screws (B)
between the rear axle arms and the chassis. Dismount completely the rear axle.
Check the elastic bushings condition.

REAR AXLE
Check and adjust the hand brake cable.
Ad just the cleara nce at t he l imi ter ope rating rod (se e chapt er 37- Bra ke l imite r
adjustment). REMOUNTING
Before remounting, grease with grease the attachment screws of the rear axle shock
absorber bottom and the chassis, consequently, the connecting screws rear a xle-c hassis. Line up the arm s beari ngs right to t he c hassis supports, mounting them without t ighten-
ing at the moment, the nuts with the screws, assembling the axle to the chassis.
Remount the springs.
Compress the axle so that rear springs bear on the tray and set back the shock absorber
inner attachment screws. Tighten at the prescribed moment the connecting screws.
Perform the dismounting operations in the reverse order.
Check the maximum allowed axial cleara nce of the bearing using a dial gauge and the
s upport RO541A.
Note
The maximum allowed axle clearance of the bearing is 0.05mm.
Mount the rear wheels, lower t he vehicle on the ground.
Refill with fluid the brake assembly.
Pu rge the braking system.

SHOCK ABSORBER

NOTE
The storage of the shock absorbers in the
s pare part s shops i s made i n hori zontal
position.
In these conditions, the shock absorbers,
which are vertically functioning, may de-
st rike.
So, it is enough that before mounting on
the v ehicle, t o proceed on striking the shock
absorbe rs by al t ernat i ve movi ng up and
down of the shock absorber rod in vertical
position.

DISMOUNTING
Remove the shock absorber prot ector (2).
Di smount the upper attachment scre ws (1) (through the trunk).
Loosen the scre ws of the wheel.
Di smount the wheel.
Lift the vehicle by means of an elevator and dismount the inner attachment scre w (4).
Di smount the shock absorber.
REMOUNTING
Pe rform in reverse order the dismounting operations.
Remount: - the shock absorber a t the lower side;
- the shock absorber a t the upper side.
Tighten the nuts at the re quired moment.

DISMOUNTING Place t he locking clamp of t he SUS 600
device in order to maintain the spring
compressed. Loosen the screws of the wheel on the side
where the dismounting is performed.
Dismount the wheel.
Di smount the shock absorber lower attach-
ment nut and screw. Push the axle and remove the spring.
REMOUNTING
Pe rform in reverse order the dismounting operations.
NOTE
M ake sure that springs of each axle have the same characteristics.

BRAKE DRUM
The t wo brake drums having the same di ameter; t he rectifyi ng of one of t hem obligatory
implies the same opera tion for t he other one.
SPECIAL TOOLS
DISMOUNTING
Extract the plug out of the drum using the
extracting pliers RO441.
Release the hand bra ke, loosening the sec-
ondary cables in order t o allow the hand brake
lever re turn. Pass a screwdriver through the wheel at-
tachment whole from the drum and operate
on the brake lever sector loosening the its
gearing with the hand brake lever. Dismount:
- the steering knuckle nut and washer;
- the drum using PF600 extractor.
REMOUNTING
Clean the drum and the brake plate assembly by means of a cleaner (vacuum cleaner)
for brake. Place back:
- the drum;
- the steering knuckle washer and nut tightening them at the re quired moment;
- the drum plug.
A djust:
- the shoes by applying a repeated pressure to the brake pedal;
- hand brake ( see chapter 37-“Controls”).

DISMOUNTING
With the vehicle placed on an elevator
w ith two columns, dismount:
- the wheel;
- the drum plug;
- brake drum;
- upper spring of shoes return, using
pliers FR03.
Space the brake shoes.
Unscrew: - the rigid piping connection on the brake
cylinder by means of an open-end wrench; - the two attachment screws of the
brake cylinder on t he brake plate, loosen-
ing the connection. Check the condition of the shoes brake gas-
kets; if oi l tra ces are present, replace them.
REMOUNTING
Clean t he drums and the brake shoes as-
sembly by means of a cleaner (vacuum
cleaner) for brake. Perform in re verse order t he dismounting
operations. Purge the braking system (see chapter 38).
