This button turns the rear window
def ogger on and of f (see page ). When you turn of f by
pressing the button again, the
system returns to its former settings. When you select , the A/C
turns on automatically and the
system selects Fresh Air mode. For
f aster def rosting, manually set the
fanspeedtohigh.Youcanalso
increase air f low to the windshield by
closing the side vents in the
dashboard. The button directs the main
air f low to the windshield f or f aster
def rosting. It also overrides any
MODE selection you may have made.75

Your car is equipped with two
temperature control bars, one f or the
driver, and one f or the passenger.
Thedriver’ssideandthepassenger’s
side can be controlled independently
by adjusting these bars when the
green indicator in the DUAL button
is lit.
Push the fan, the A/C, the AUTO, or
the button, and the set
temperatures appear in the display.
When the indicator in the DUAL
button is off, you can adjust both
sides to the same temperature with
the driver’s side control bar.
To set the driver’s side temperature
to a different value than the
passenger’s, press the DUAL button,
then press ‘‘ ’’ or ‘‘ ’’ on the driver’s
side control bar. To set the
passenger’s side to a dif f erent value
than the driver’s side, press ‘‘ ’’ or
‘‘ ’’ on the passenger’s side control
bar (see page ). You can adjust
the passenger’s side without
pressing the DUAL button first.When you set the temperature to its
lower limit or its upper limit, it will be
displayed as ‘‘ ’’ or ‘‘ ’’.

To put the Automatic Climate
Control in f ully-automatic mode,
press the AUTO button. The
indicator in the button will light.
Then set the desired temperature by
pressing ‘‘ ’’ or ‘‘ ’’ on the driver’s
side temperature control bar.
The system automatically selects the
proper mix of conditioned and/or
heated air that will, as quickly as
possible, raise or lower the interior
temperature f rom its current level to
the set temperature.

Pressing the OFF button shuts the
climate control system completely
off. No air flow can cause the
windows to fog up. It is
recommended that you keep the f an
on at all times so stale air and
moisture do not build up in the
interior and cause f ogging.
When you set the temperature to its
lower limit ‘‘ ’’ or its upper
limit ‘‘ ’’, the system runs at
f ull cooling or heating only. It does
not regulate the interior temperature.
When the temperature is set
between the lower and upper limits,
the system regulates the interior
temperature to the set value.
In cold weather, the f an will not
come on automatically until the car
has been driven f or a short time and
the heater starts to develop warm air. You can manually select various
f unctions of the Climate Control
system when it is in f ully automatic
mode. All other f eatures remain
automatically controlled. Some of
these functions appear in the
Navigation System display. Press the
A/C button under the display to
show these functions. Making any
manual selection causes the
indicator in the AUTO button to go

Touching ‘‘ON’’ or ‘‘OFF’’ in the
display turns the air conditioning on

When you turn the A/C of f , the sys-
tem cannot regulate the inside tem-
perature if you set the temperature
control bars below the outside tem-
perature. With the A/C of f , use the
temperature control bars to adjust
the temperature of the air flow to a
comfortable setting.

You can manually select the f an
speed by touching any of the f an
control icons on the display.
This button controls the source of air
going into the system. When the
indicator in this button is lit, air f rom
the car’s interior is sent through the
system again (Recirculation mode).
When the indicator is off, air is
brought in f rom outside the car
(Fresh Air mode).
You can, f or example, manually put
the system in recirculation mode
when driving through an area of
smoke or f umes.
