Thewarninglightslightupforalampcheck.
Pleasenotethedescriptionoftheindividual
warninglights.

steeringlockwithaslightsteeringmovement.
Note
Toconservebatterypoweratlowrpm(traffic
jams,towndrivingetc,),switchoffallelectrical
consumerswhicharenotneededatthatmo-
ment.

2.
Theclutchpedalmustbedepressedfully
beforethestarterwillengage.

Thefirstoperationofthestarterisendedauto-
maticallywhentheenginestarts.
Iftheenginedoesnotstart,subsequentstarter
operationswillnotbeendedautomatically.
Iftheenginedoesnotstartatthefirsttimeor
stallsatanytime,thekeymustbereturnedto
positionO.
Whentheengineisrunning,thewarninglights
shouldgooff.Ifalightdoesnotgooff,take
appropriateactionasindicatedinthismanual.

quiredforstarting.
Therefore,
itisnotnecessarytodepressthe
acceleratorpedal
whilestartingacoldora
warmengine.

tionkey.

Iftheenginedoesnotstart,subsequentstarter
operationswillnotbeendedautomatically.
Iftheenginefailstostartafter10or15sec-
ondsofcranking:

starteragain.

Donotlettheengineidletowarm
up.

Whenstartingtheengine,bereadytodrive
immediately.
Drivevehicleatmoderatespeedsandavoid
enginespeedsabove4,200rpmduringthe
first5minutes.

Engineexhaustfumeshavemanycompo-
nentswhichyoucansmell.Theyalsocon-
taincarbonmonoxide
(CO),
whichisaco-
lorlessandodorlessgas.
Carbonmonoxidecancauseunconscious-
nessandevendeathifinhaled.

Neverstartorlettheengineruninanen-
closed,unventilatedarea.
Itisnotrecommendedtositinyourcarfor
prolongedperiodswiththeengineonandthe
carnotmoving.

Anunattendedvehiclewitharunningen-
gineispotentiallyhazardous.
Ifwarninglightsshouldcomeontoindicate
improperoperation,theywouldgounno-
ticed.

I>Donotstopengineimmediatelyafterhardor
extendeddriving.
Keepenginerunningatincreasedidlefor
abouttwominutestopreventexcessiveheat
build-upbeforeturningoffengine.
I>Toavoidbatteryrun-down,alwaysremovethe
ignitionkeyfromtheignitionlock.
I>Makesurethatwhenyouleavethecar,even
briefly,youhavewithdrawntheignitionkey.
I>Engagethesteeringlockbymovingthesteer-
ingwheeltotheleftorright.
Turnthesteeringwheeltothelockingposition
beforeyouswitchofftheenginesothatyou
don'thavetoexertyourselfwhenlockingor
unlockingthesteering.

Hotenginecompartmentcomponentscan
burnskinoncontact.

partment,turntheengineoffandletitcool
downsufficiently.

Theengine-compartmentblowerismountedon
theenginecompartmentlid.

ferewithyourelectronicallyoperatedgarage
door.
I>Tocheckthis,driveyourPorscheclosetothe
garagedoor.Makesurenottointerferewith
theoperatingrangeofthedoor.
I>Runtheengineatdifferentspeeds.
Ifthegaragedooropensorcloseswithoutyou
operatingthegaragedoorunitinyourcar,con-
tactthedealerwhoinstalledtheautomaticgar-
agedoortohavethefrequencyand/orcoding
ofthegaragedoorsignalchangedormodified.
