The A/T oil temperature warning light comes on when the automatic transmission oil tempera-ture goes up to the temperature that may resultin serious damage of automatic transmission. If the A/T oil temperature warning light comes on while driving, park your vehicle in at a safeplace as soon as possible and with the selectorlever is shifted into "P" position, and allow theengine to idle until the warning light goes off.And when the warning light goes off, the vehiclecan be driven normally. If the warning light doesn't go off or it lights up frequently, have the vehicle checked by yourHyundai dealer.

This light also comes on when the SRS is not
working properly. If the SRI does not come on,or continuously remains on after flashing forabout 6 seconds when you turned the ignition
key to the "ON" position or started the engine,or if it comes on while driving, have the SRSinspected by an authorized Hyundai Dealer.

According to the road conditions, set the switch

Select the "HOLD" mode when starting your
vehicle on a road surface slippery from snow or the like, and the vehicle will start smoothly insecond gear.
When you need quick acceleration or engine
braking power on a downhill grade, or when youare going to go up a long hill, press the "Hold"switch once again to cancel the "Hold" function.
When "Hold" button is depressed, "Hold" indi-
cator light in the instrument cluster will illumi-nate and automatic shifting will be performed inthe range from 2nd gear to 3rd gear only, asshown in the table.

3-8 When the overdrive switch is turned on, the transmission will automatically upshift to thesecond, third and overdrive gears. When theoverdrive switch is turned off, the transmissionwill not upshift to the overdrive gear at all. For normal driving, the selector lever should be left in the "D" position and the overdrive switchturned on. To move the selector lever, the pushbutton on the selector lever handle may have tobe depressed first. If you need to accelerate rapidly, press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. o Never move the gear selector lever from "P"
or "N" to any other position with the accel- erator pedal depressed.

o Be sure the vehicle is completely stopped before you attempt to shift into "R".
o Never take the vehicle out of gear and coast down a hill. This may be extremely hazard-ous. Always leave the vehicle in gear whenmoving.
o Do not "ride" the brakes. This can cause them to overheat and malfunction. Instead,when you are driving down a long hill, slowdown and shift to a lower gear. When you dothis, engine braking will help slow the car.
o Slow down before shifting to a lower gear. Otherwise, the lower gear may not be en-gaged.
o Always use the parking brake. Do not de- pend on placing the transmission in "P" tokeep the vehicle from moving.
o Exercise extreme caution when driving on a slippery surface. Be especially careful whenbraking, accelerating or shifting gears. On a slippery surface, an abrupt change in engine speed can cause the drive wheels tolose traction and the vehicle to go out ofcontrol.
o Do not hold the vehicle on the upgrade with the accelerator pedal. This can cause the transmission to overheat. Always use thebrake pedal or parking brake.
