INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when
a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was
running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air±fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other
data from the time when a malfunction occurred.
1 Are there any other codes (besides DTC P0420 or P0430) being output?
PREPARATION:
(a) Connect the hand±held tester to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand±held tester main switch ON.
(c) When using hand±held tester, enter the following menu: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC
INFO / CURRENT CODES.
CHECK:
Read the DTC using the hand±held tester.
RESULT:

HINT:
If any other codes besides ºP0420 and/or P0430º are output, perform the troubleshooting for those DTCs
first.
B Go to relevant DTC chart (See page DI±58).

2 Check A/F sensor (bank 1, 2 sensor 1).
(a) Connect the hand±held tester to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine and turn the tester ON.
(c) Warm up the engine with the engine speed at 2,500 rpm for approximately 90 seconds.
(d) On the tester, select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST /
A/F CONTROL.
(e) Perform the A/F CONTROL operation with the engine in an idling condition (press the RIGHT or LEFT
button to change the fuel injection volume).
(f) Monitor the voltage outputs of the A/F and HO2 sensors (AFS B1S1 and O2S B1S2) displayed on the
tester.
HINT:
The A/F CONTROL operation lowers the fuel injection volume by 12.5 % or increases the injection
volume by 25 %.
Each sensor reacts in accordance with increases and decreases in the fuel injection volume.

3. CHECK THE INDICATOR
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(b) Check that the CRUISE main indicator light comes on
when the cruise control main switch ON±OFF button is
pushed on, and that the indicator light goes off when the
ON±OFF button is pushed off.
HINT:
If there is a problem with the indicator, inspect the cruise main
indicator light circuit (see page DI±1557).
HINT:
If a malfunction occurs in the vehicle speed sensors, stop lamp
switch assy, or other related parts during cruise control driving,
the ECM will actuate AUTO CANCEL of the cruise control. The
CRUISE main indicator light will then start to blink, informing the
driver of the malfunction. At the same time, data concerning the
malfunction is stored as a diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

RECALLING THE MEMORIZED POSITION
When you push button ª1º or ª2º, a
beep will sound and the driving posi-
tion will be automatically adjusted to
the position recorded for that button.
The memorized position can be recalled
under the following conditions:
The ignition key is in the ªON position
and the shift lever is in the ªPº posi-
tion.
The key is not in the ignition switch
and less than 30 seconds have passed
since opening the driver 's door.To stop the operation, push any driving
position memory button.
To reactivate the system, push the button
ª1º or ª2º again.
If the vehicle's battery is disconnected,
the memory will be erased and the posi-
tions will have to be set again.
CAUTION
Do not start the vehicle while the
adjustment are being made.
Take care not to select the wrong
button, or the seat could strike the
rear passenger or hit your body
against the steering wheel. If this
happens, you can stop the move-
ment by pressing another driving
position memory switch, or de-
pressing the brake pedal.
Toyota strongly urges that the driver and
passengers in the vehicle be properly re-
strained at all times with the seat belts
provided. Failure to do so could increase
the chance of injury and/or the severity of
injury in accidents.
The seat belts provided for your vehicle
are designed for people of adult size,
large enough to properly wear them.
Child. Use a child restraint system ap-
propriate for the child until the child be-
comes large enough to properly wear the
vehicle's seat belts. See ªChild restraintº
on page 107 in this Section for details.
If a child is too large for a child restraint
system, the child should sit in the rear
seat and must be restrained using the
vehicle's seat belt. According to accident
statistics, the child is safer when properly
restrained in the rear seat than in the
front seat.
If a child must sit in the front seat, the
seat belts should be worn properly. If an
accident occurs and the seat belts are not
worn properly, the force of the rapid infla-
tion of the airbag may cause death or
serious injury to the child.
