Battery
To charge the battery with a battery
charger:
Ð Disconnect the battery starting with the negative ( Ð) terminal.
Ð
Follow the instructions for use given
by the charger manufacturer.
Ð Re-connect starting with the positive (+) terminal.
Ð Check that the terminals and posts are clean. If they arecovered with sulphation (a whiteor green deposit), undo them andclean them. To start and charge the batteryfrom another battery: Make sure that the connections are correct:
- Connect the red cable to the
positive (+) terminals of both bat- teries.
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative ( Ð
)
terminal of the auxiliary battery.
- Connect the other end of the green or black cable to an earthpoint on the broken down vehicleas far as possible from the
battery.
Operate the starter and allow theengine to run.
Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables. It is advisable to disconnect the battery if the vehicle is to be outof use for more than one month.

Ð Do not disconnect the terminals while the engine is running.
Ð Do not recharge batteries without Þrst disconnecting theterminals.
Ð
A permanent electrical supplyis necessary for operation ofthe electronic systems. If thebattery is disconnected, switchon the ignition and wait
10 seconds before starting.
However, if minor disturbancesoccur following disconnection
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Fitting a radio
Your 106 has the following factory- Þtted equipment:
Ð Roof aerial.
Ð Coaxial aerial lead.
Ð Basic suppression.
Ð Supply to front speakers (accor-ding to speciÞcation, the wires are located in the pillars in front ofthe doors).
Ð Supply to rear speakers*.
Ð 2 x 8-way connectors. It only remains for you to connect your radio and Þt the speakers.

To tow your 106 without lifting... A towing bar should always be used. From the front and rear:
Ð Attach the towing bar to thetowing eye.
Tow-bar This device must be Þtted by a
PEUGEOT dealer. Towing (boat, caravan, etc.)
¥ before setting out:
- check the pressure of thetyres, both on the vehicle and
on the trailer.
- check the electrical signals on the trailer.
- practice manoeuvring, in parti- cular reversing.
- grease the tow ball regularly, remove it when you have Þni-shed towing.
¥ In a caravan, distribute the load inside evenly and do not exceedthe maximum load.
¥ Always drive at a moderate speed, change gear early, bothgoing uphill and downhill. Payattention to side winds.
¥ When towing, fuel consumption increases. Do not forget to use a
roof deßector if necessary.
¥ Braking distance increases. Brake gradually and gently. Avoidjerky braking. Do not exceed your vehicleÕs
towing capacity.
