Troubleshooting Procedures

Remove the kick panel on the passenger's side {see section 20}.
Remove the PCM. and turn the PCM over.
Inspect the circuit on the PCM according to the troubleshooting flowchart with the spocial tools and a digital multime-ter as shown.
How lo Use tha Backprobe Set
Connect the backprobe adapters to the stacking patch cords, and connect the cords to a multimeter. Using the wireinsulation as a guide for the contoured tip of the backprobe adapter, gently slide the tip into the connector from thewire side until it comes in contact with the terminal end ofthe wire.

1.Remove the snap ring. then remove the clutch endplate, clutch discs and plates.

SPRING RETAINER
4. Compfess the return sprang.
Do not sat horo.
5. Remove the snap ring. Then remove the special tools,
spring retainer and return spring.
Wrap a shop rag around the clutch drum, and apply
air pressure to the ATF passage to remove the pis-
ron.
Place a finger tip on the other end while applying
air pressure.

NOTE: Install the disc spring in the direction
shown, except 2nd clutch.

Soak the clutch discs thoroughly in ATF for a mini-
mum of 30 minutes.
Starting with a clutch plate, alternately install the
clutch plates and discs. Install the clutch end plate
with flat side toward the disc.
NOTE: Before installing the plates and discs, make
sure the inside of the clutch drum is free of din orother foreign mafter.
CLUTCH END PLATEInstall in this direcrion.
12. Installthe snap ring.
