INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Check ECU±B fuse.
Remove ECU±B fuse from R/B No.2.
Check continuity of ECU±B fuse.
Continuity
Check for short in all the harness and components
connected to the ECU±B fuse (See attached wiring
diagram).
Remove ECU with connectors still connected.
Voltage: 10 ± 14 V
Check continuity between terminal BATT of ECU connector and body
ground.
Measure voltage between terminal BATT of ECU con-
nector and body ground.
Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on matrix
chart (See page
BE±170).

Trouble Symptom
wHard steering at idle or low±speed driving.
wSteering too sensitive during high±speed driving.
Preliminary Check
wCheck tire pressure.
wCheck lubrication of suspension and steering linkage.
wCheck front wheel alignment.
wCheck steering system joint and suspension arm ball joint.
wCheck for bent steering column.
wCheck that all connectors are secure.
wCheck PS pump fluid pressure. (See page SR±37)
Turn ignition switch on.
Is ECU±IG fuse normal?
Disconnect the ECU connector.
Fuse faulty.
Replace fuse.
Is operation normal?Short circuit in wire
harness between fuse
and ECU terminal +B.
Check 1.
Check that there is battery voltage (10 Ð 14V) between the
ECU terminal +B and body ground.
Open circuit in wire harness between the fuse and ECU terminal +B.

Measure voltage between terminal BATT of en-
gine control module connector and body ground.
Voltage: 9 Ð 14 V
Check and replace engine control module.
Check and repair harness or connector between
engine control module and EFI No.1 fuse, EFI No.1
fuse and battery.
Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on matrix
chart (See page
EG±408).
Check voltage between terminal BATT of engine control module connector
and body ground.
