Vehicle data recording
The vehicle is equipped with multiple computers for controlling the vehi-
cle, and records data related to vehicle control and operation.
The recorded data varies according to the vehicle grade level and options
with which it is equipped.
These computers do not record audio such as conversations or images
inside the vehicle.
⚫Data usage
Toyota may acquire and use the data recorded in these computers to
diagnose malfunctions, conduct research and development, and
improve quality.
Except in the following cases, Toyota will not disclose or provide the
acquired data to third parties.
⦁ With the consent of the vehicle owner or with the consent of the les-
see if the vehicle is leased
⦁ In response to an official request by the police, a court of law or a gov-
ernment agency
⦁ For use by Toyota in a lawsuit
⦁ For research purposes in research institutions, where the data is not
tied to a specific vehicle or vehicle owner
Event Data Recorder
This vehicle is equipped with an Even t Data Recorder (EDR). The main pur-
pose of the EDR is to record, in cert ain crash or crash-like situations, such
as an SRS airbag deployment or hitt ing a road obstacle, data that will
assist in understanding how vehicl e’s systems performed. The EDR is
designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems
for a short period of time. However, data may not be recorded depending
on the severity and type of a crash.
The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as:
⚫How various systems in your vehicle were operating;
⚫How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake
pedal; and,
⚫How fast the vehicle was traveling
These data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances
in which crashes and injuries occur.

: If equipped
NOTE: EDR data are recorded by your vehicle only if a non-trivial crash sit-
uation occurs; no data are recorded under normal driving conditions and
no personal data (e.g., name, gender, age, and crash location) are
recorded. However, other parties, such as law enforcement, could com-
bine the EDR data with the type of personally identifying data routinely
acquired during a crash investigation. To read data recorded by an EDR,
special equipment is required, and access to the vehicle or the EDR is
needed. In addition to Toyota, other pa rties, such as law enforcement, that
have the special equipment, can read the information if they have access
to the vehicle or the EDR.
⚫Disclosure of the EDR data
Toyota will not disclose the data re corded in an EDR to a third party
except:
⦁ With the consent of the vehicle owner or with the consent of the les-
see if the vehicle is leased
⦁ In response to an official request by the police, a court of law or a gov-
ernment agency
⦁ For use by Toyota in a lawsuit
However, Toyota may:
⦁ Use the data for research on vehicle safety performance.
⦁ Disclose the data to a third party for research purposes without dis-
closing information about the specific vehicle or vehicle owner.
Installation of an RF-transmitter system
The installation of an RF-transmitter system in your vehicle could affect
electronic systems such as:
⚫Multiport fuel injection system/sequential multiport fuel injection system
⚫VSC
⚫SRS airbags
⚫Seat belt pretensioners
Be sure to check with your Toyota dealer for precautionary measures or
instructions regarding installation to avoid negative effects.
Further information regard ing the installation of RF-transmitters (fre-
quency bands, power levels, antenna positions and installation provisions)
is available on request at your Toyota dealer.

Emergency Notification Services
⬛Automatic Emergency Calls
If any airbag deploys, the system is designed to automatically call the eCall
control center.* The answering operat or receives the vehicle’s location,
the time of the incident and the vehicle VIN, and attempts to speak with
the vehicle occupants to assess the situation. If the occupants are unable
to communicate, the operator automati cally treats the call as an emer-
gency and contacts the nearest emerge ncy services provider (999 system
etc.) to describe the situation and request that assistance be sent to the
location.
*In some cases, the call cannot be made. ( ➞P. 7 0 )
⬛Manual Emergency Calls
In the event of an emergency, press the “SOS” button to call the eCall con-
trol center.* The answering operator will determine your vehicle’s loca-
tion, assess the situation, and dispatch the necessa ry assistance required.
If you accidentally press the “SOS” button, tell the operator that you are not experi-
encing an emergency.
*In some cases, the call cannot be made. ( ➞P. 7 0 )
Indicator lights
When the engine switch is turned to “ON”, the red indicator light will illumi-
nate for 10 seconds and then the gree n indicator light will illuminate, indi-
cating that the system is enabled. The indicator lights indicate the following:
⚫If the green indicator light illuminat es and stays on, the system is ena-
bled.
⚫If the green indicator light flashe s twice per second, an automatic or
manual Emergency Call is being made.
⚫If no indicator lights illuminate, the system is not enabled.
⚫If the red indicator light illuminates at any time other than immediately
after the engine switch is turned to “ON”, the system may be malfunc-
tioning or the backup battery may be depleted.
⚫If the red indicator light blinks for approximately 30 seconds during an
Emergency Call, the call has been disconnected or the cellular network
signal is weak.
The service life of the backup battery does not exceed 3 years.

WARNING
⬛When the Emergency Call may not be made
⚫It may not be possible to make Emergency Calls in any of the following situa-
tions. In such cases, report to emergency services provider (999 system etc.)
by other means such as nearby public phones.
⦁ Even when the vehicle is in the cellul ar phone service area, it may be diffi-
cult to connect to the eCall control center if the reception is poor or the
line is busy. In such cases, even th ough the system attempts to connect to
the eCall control center, you may not be able to connect to the eCall con-
trol center to make Emergency Ca lls and contact emergency services.
⦁ When the vehicle is out of the cellular phone service area, the Emergency
Calls cannot be made.
⦁ When any related equipment (such as the “SOS” button panel, indicator
lights, microphone, speaker, DCM, an tenna, or any wires connecting the
equipment) is malfunctioning, dama ged or broken, the Emergency Call
cannot be made.
⦁ During an Emergency Call, the system makes repeated attempts to con-
nect to the eCall control center. However, if it cannot connect to the eCall
control center due to poor radio wave reception, the system may not be
able to connect to the ce llular network and the call may finish without con-
necting. The red indicator light will blink for approximately 30 seconds to
indicate this disconnection.
⚫If the battery’s voltage decreases or there is a disconnection, the system may
not be able to connect to the eCall control center.
