The system only applies the brakes for ashort period of time when an event occurs.Act as soon as you notice the brakes applyto remain in control of the vehicle. If you donot intervene the vehicle may start to moveagain.
Note:Certain add-on devices around thebumper or fascia may create false alerts. Forexample, large trailer hitches, bicycle orsurfboard racks, license plate brackets, bumper covers or any other device that mayblock the normal detection zone of thesystem. Remove the add-on device toprevent false alerts.
Note:The system does not react to small ormoving objects, particularly those close tothe ground.
Note:The system does not operate duringhard acceleration or steering.
Note:If your vehicle sustains damage to thebumper or fascia leaving it misaligned orbent, it could alter the sensing zone causinginaccurate measurement of obstacles orfalse alerts.
Note:Vehicle loading and suspensionchanges can impact the angle of the sensorsand may change the normal detection zoneof the system resulting in inaccuratemeasurement of obstacles or false alerts.
Note:When you connect a trailer, the systemmay detect the trailer and provide an alert,or the system turns off. If the system doesnot turn off, manually switch the system offafter you connect the trailer.
Note:You may experience reduced systemperformance on road surfaces that limitdeceleration. For example, roads with ice, loose gravel, mud or sand.

HOW DOES STABILITY CONTROL
WORK
WARNING: Vehicle modificationsinvolving braking system, aftermarket roofracks, suspension, steering system, tireconstruction and wheel and tire size maychange the handling characteristics of yourvehicle and may adversely affect theperformance of the electronic stabilitycontrol system. In addition, installing anystereo speakers may interfere with andadversely affect the electronic stabilitycontrol system. Reducing the effectivenessof the electronic stability control systemcould lead to an increased risk of loss ofvehicle control, vehicle rollover, personalinjury and death.
WARNING: Remember that evenadvanced technology cannot defy the lawsof physics. It's always possible to losecontrol of a vehicle due to inappropriatedriver input for the conditions. Aggressivedriving on any road condition can causeyou to lose control of your vehicle
increasing the risk of personal injury orproperty damage. Activation of theelectronic stability control system is anindication that at least some of the tireshave exceeded their ability to grip theroad; this could reduce the operator'sability to control the vehicle potentiallyresulting in a loss of vehicle control, vehiclerollover, personal injury and death.
WARNING: You are responsible forcontrolling your vehicle at all times. Thesystem is designed to be an aid and doesnot relieve you of your responsibility todrive with due care and attention. Failureto follow this instruction could result in theloss of control of your vehicle, personalinjury or death.
If a driving condition activates either thestability control or traction control you mayexperience the following conditions:
•The stability and traction control lightflashes.
•Your vehicle slows down.
•Reduced engine power.
The stability control system has severalfeatures built into it to help you maintaincontrol of your vehicle:
Electronic Stability Control
Electronic stability control enhances yourvehicle’s ability to prevent skids or lateralslides by applying brakes to one or more ofthe wheels individually and, if necessary, reducing engine power.
Roll Stability Control
Roll stability control enhances your vehicle’sability to prevent rollovers by detecting yourvehicle’s roll motion and the rate at which itchanges by applying the brakes to one ormore wheels individually.
Curve Control
Curve control enhances your vehicle’s abilityto follow the road when cornering severelyor avoiding objects in the roadway. Curvecontrol operates by reducing engine powerand, if necessary, applying brakes to one ormore of the wheels individually.

STEERING – FREQUENTLY ASKEDQUESTIONS
Why does it seem that the steering iswandering or pulling?
Check your vehicle for an improperlyinflated or uneven tire, loose or wornsuspension or steering components, orimproper vehicle alignment.
The system is functioning properly and thecomponents have been checked, why isthe steering system continuing to pull orwander?
A high crown in the road or crosswindscould make the steering system feel likeit is wandering or pulling.

WHAT IS THE LANE KEEPING
SYSTEM
Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 and 360+
The lane keeping system alerts you byproviding temporary steering assistance orsteering wheel vibration when it detects anunintended lane departure.
HOW DOES THE LANE KEEPING
SYSTEM WORK
The lane keeping system uses a forwardlooking camera mounted on the windshieldto monitor vehicle movement within thetravel lane.
When the camera detects a drift out of thetravel lane, the lane keeping system alertsthe driver by vibrating the steering wheel, oraids the driver by providing a small steeringinput to move the vehicle back into the travellane.
The driver can select one of three modes:
•Alert (If Equipped)
•Aid
•Alert + Aid

WHAT IS SPEED SIGN
RECOGNITION
Speed sign recognition detects speed limitsigns to inform you of the current speed limit.Detected speed signs appear in theinstrument cluster display.
HOW DOES SPEED SIGN
RECOGNITION WORK
Speed sign recognition uses a sensor behindthe interior mirror to detect speed signs.
If your vehicle has speed sign recognitionwith navigation, stored speed sign data mayinfluence the indicated speed limit value.

Note:Do not carry out windshield repairs inthe immediate area surrounding the sensor.
Note:If your vehicle has a suspension kitnot approved by Ford, the system may notcorrectly function.
Note:The system may not detect all speedsigns and may incorrectly read signs.
Note:Always fit our original parts whenreplacing headlamp bulbs. Other bulbs mayreduce system performance.
SPEED SIGN RECOGNITION
LIMITATIONS
Speed sign recognition may not operatecorrectly due to:
•Outdated map data.
•Incorrect recognition of speed limits bythe sensor of signs on parallel roads orexit ramps.
•Missed recognition of faded, dirty, ordistorted signs.
