Panic button
Press and hold the Panic button (4)
for more than one second. The horn
sounds and hazard warning lights
blink for about 30 seconds. To cancel
the panic mode, press any button on
the Smart Key.
Start-up
You can start the vehicle without
inserting the key.
For information, refer to the
"POWER button" section in chap-ter 5.
To prevent damaging the smart key:
• Keep the smart key in a cool, dryplace to avoid damage or mal-
function. Exposure to moisture
or high temperature may cause
the internal circuit of the smart
key to malfunction which may
not be covered under warranty.
Avoid dropping or throwing the smart key.
Protect the smart key from extreme temperatures.
Remote start (if equipped)
You can start the vehicle using the
remote start button (6) of the smart
key.
To start the vehicle remotely :
- Lock the doors by pressing thedoor lock button (1) within 10 m (32
ft) distance from the vehicle.
- Press the remote start button for over 2 seconds within 4 seconds
after locking the doors.
Press the remote start button once to
turn off the vehicle. Air conditioner/heater system main-
tains the status before turning off the
vehicle.
If no further action for operating/driv-
ing the vehicle is taken, the vehicle
will be turned off 10 minutes after
starting the vehicle remotely.
NOTICE
Laws in your country may
restrict the use of remote start.
You should check country reg-
ulations before using this
remote starting system.
It is only possible to start the
vehicle remotely when shifted
to P (Park).
If the hood or the tailgate is
opened, you cannot start the
vehicle remotely.
The Remote start function
works the same as Blue Link
remote start. For further cau-
tion information, refer to the
separately supplied "Blue
Link (AVN) manual".

REMOTE SMART PARKING ASSIST
(RSPA) system helps drivers park
their vehicle by using sensors to
detect parking spaces, control the
steering wheel, shift the gear and
adjust vehicle speed automatically
with instructions through sound and
AVN screen.
Applicable RSPA modes :
Smart Parking/Remote SmartParking: The system provides assis-
tance for reverse parking (perpendi-
cular parking) and parallel parking.
Smart Exit : The system provides assistance for forward parallel exit.
Remote Moving Forward/Backward: The system provides assistance for
forward/backward movement in the
parking space with driver outside
the vehicle.
The system does not work if there is
no car parked in front of the parking
space you are planning to park or if it
is a diagonal parking space.
After parking your vehicle using the
system, the vehicle may not be parked
at the exact spot you have wished. To prevent frequency interference, the
heater and air conditioner may be
turned off when the system is activated. ❈
O : Available, X : Unavailable Deactivate the system and park/exit
your vehicle manually, when the situ-
ation requires parking manually.
The Parking Distance Warning sys-
tem's front and rear warning sound
and Surround View Monitor (SVM)
system activate while RSPA is acti-
vated. The system will be canceled if the
Parking Distance Warning system is
cancelled by pressing the button tothe OFF position.
For operation of the Parking
Distance Warning system and the
SVM system, refer to the relevant
description in this manual.

The mode selection button controls the direction of the air flow through the
ventilation system.
6. If air conditioning is desired, turn
the air conditioning system on.
7. Press the AUTO button to convert to full automatic control of the system.
When starting the vehicle in cold
weather using manual temperature
control, operate the system in the fol-
lowing method to improve heating.
- Turn off or lower the blower, right after starting the engine.
• Allow the engine to warm up dur-ing this time since the air flow from the heater is still cold.
- After a few minutes of engine warm up, turn on or set the fan to a high-
er level and adjust the temperaturesetting to hot.

Adjusting the driver and passenger
side temperature individually
Press the "SYNC" button again to
operate the driver and passenger
side temperature individually. The
button indicator will turn off.
Temperature conversion
If the battery has been discharged or
disconnected, the temperature mode
display will reset to Fahrenheit.
To change the temperature unit from °C to °F or °F to °C:
- Press the AUTO button while press-ing the OFF button on the climate
control unit for 3 seconds.
- Go to General settings mode Unit
Temperature in the AVN display.
The temperature unit on both the
cluster LCD display and climate con-
trol screen will change.
Air intake control (8)
The air intake control button is used
to select either Fresh mode (outsideair) or Recirculation mode (cabin air).
Recirculation mode
When Recirculation mode is selected, air from the passenger
compartment will berecirculated through thesystem and heated or
cooled according to thefunction selected.
Fresh mode
When Fresh mode is selected, air enters the
vehicle from outside andis heated or cooled
according to the functionselected. Information
Operating the system primarily in
Fresh mode is recommended. Use
Recirculation mode temporarily only
when needed.
Prolonged operation of the heater in
Recirculation mode and without the
A/C ON can cause fogging of the
windshield.
In addition, prolonged use of the A/C
ON in Recirculation mode may result
in excessively dry, dehumidified air in
the cabin and may promote formation
of musty vent odor due to stagnant air.

Fan speed control (5)
The fan speed can be set as desired
by pushing the fan speed control but-ton.
More air is delivered with higher fan
speeds.
Pressing the OFF button turns off the
fan. Operating the fan when the
POWER button is in the ON posi-
tion could cause the battery to
discharge. Operate the blower
when the vehicle is in the ready
() mode.
Operating the fan when POWER
button is in the ON position could
cause the battery to discharge.
Operate the fan when the vehicle
is in the ready () mode.
Air conditioning (12)
Push the A/C button to manually turnthe system on (indicator light will illu-
minate) and off.
OFF mode (6)
Push the OFF button to turn the cli-
mate control system off. You can still
operate the mode and air intake but-
tons.

control system operation in
Recirculation mode for a pro-

Cabin air filter

the glove box. It filters the dust or other
pollutants that enter the vehiclethrough the heating and air condition-ing system.
Have the The cabin air filter replaced
by an authorized HYUNDAI dealeraccording to the maintenance sched-
ule.If the vehicle is being driven in
severe conditions such as dusty or
rough roads and/or if transporting
pets or occupants smoke inside the
vehicle, then more frequent cabin airfilter inspections and changes arerequired.
If the air flow rate suddenly decreas-
es, the system should be checked at
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Checking the amount of air con-
ditioner refrigerant and com-
pressor lubricant
When the amount of refrigerant is
low, the performance of the air con-
ditioning is reduced. Overfilling also
reduces the performance of the airconditioning system.
Therefore, if abnormal operation is
found, we recommend that the sys-
tem be inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
It is important that the correct type and amount of oil and refrig-
erant is used. Otherwise, damageto the compressor and abnormal
system operation may occur. To
prevent damage, the air condition-
ing system in your vehicle should
only be serviced by trained and
certified technicians.

For maximum defrost perform-
ance, set the temperature control
to the highest temperature setting
and the fan speed control to thehighest setting.
If warm air to the floor is desired while defrosting or defogging, set themode to the floor-defrost position.
Before driving, clear all snow and ice from the windshield, rear win-
dow, side view mirrors, and all side
windows.
Clear all snow and ice from the hood and air inlet in the cowl grill to
improve heater and defroster effi-ciency and to reduce the probability
of fogging up the inside of the wind-shield.Automatic Temperature Control
System
To defog inside windshield
1. Select the desired fan speed.
2. Select the desired temperature.
3. Press the defroster button ( ).
4. Fresh mode will be selected auto- matically.
Check to make sure the air intake
control is in Fresh mode. If the air
intake control LED is illuminated,
press the button once to enable
Fresh mode (LED OFF).
If the position is selected, the fan speed is automatically increased.
Windshield heating
Do not use the or posi- tion during cooling operation in
extremely humid weather. The
difference between the temper-ature of the outside air and thatof the windshield could causethe outer surface of the wind-
shield to fog up, causing loss ofvisibility could cause an acci-
dent resulting in serious injury
or death. In this case, set the
mode selection knob or button
to the position and fan
speed control knob or button to
a lower speed.

Auto Defogging System
(Additional Feature with
Automatic Temperature
Control System) (if equipped)
Auto defogging helps reduce the pos-
sibility of fogging up the inside of the
windshield by automatically sensingthe moisture on inside the windshield.
The auto defogging system operates when the heater or air conditioning ison.Information
The auto defogging system may not
operate normally, when the outside
temperature is below -10°C (14°F). When the Auto Defogging
System operates, the indi-
cator will illuminate.
If a high amount of humidity is
detected in the vehicle, the Auto
Defogging System will be enabled.
The following steps will be performedautomatically:
Step 1) The A/C button will turn ON.
Step 2) The air intake control will change to Fresh mode.
Step 3) The mode will be changed to defrost to direct airflow to the windshield.
Step 4) The fan speed will be set to MAX.
If the air conditioning is off or recircu-
lated air position is manually select-
ed while Auto Defogging System is
ON, the Auto Defogging System
Indicator will blink 3 times to signal
that the manual operation has beencanceled.
To cancel or reset the
Auto Defogging System
Press the front windshield defroster
button for 3 seconds when the
POWER button is in the ON position.
When the Auto Defogging System iscanceled, the ADS OFF symbol will
blink 3 times and ADS OFF will be
displayed on the climate control
information screen.
When the Auto Defogging System is
reset, the ADS OFF symbol will blink6 times without a signal.
