7.Try to pull the belt out of the retractorto make sure the retractor is in theautomatic locking mode. You shouldnot be able to pull more belt out. If theretractor did not lock, unbuckle the beltand repeat Steps 5 and 6.
8.Remove remaining slack from the belt.Force the seat down with extra weight,for example, by pressing down orkneeling on the child restraint whilepulling up on the shoulder belt in orderto force slack from the belt. This isnecessary to remove the remainingslack that exists once you add the extraweight of the child to the child restraint.It also helps to achieve the propersnugness of the child restraint to yourvehicle. Sometimes, a slight leantoward the buckle will provide extrahelp to remove remaining slack fromthe belt.
9.If the child restraint has a tether strap,attach it.
10.Before placing the child in the seat,forcibly move the seat forward andback to make sure the seat is securelyheld in place. To check this, grab theseat at the belt path and attempt tomove it side to side and forward andback. There should be no more than1 in (2.5 cm) of movement.
We recommend checking with a NHTSACertified Child Passenger SafetyTechnician to make certain the childrestraint is properly installed. In Canada,check with Transport Canada for referralto a Child Car Seat Clinic.

WARNING: Wireless chargingdevices can affect the operation ofimplanted medical devices, includingcardiac pacemakers. If you have anyimplanted medical devices, werecommend that you consult with yourphysician.
Keep the charging area clean and removeforeign objects prior to charging a device.
Do not place items with a magnetic stripor radio-frequency identification chip, forexample passports, parking tickets,transportation passes or credit cards, nearthe charging area when charging a device.Damage could occur to the magnetic stripor radio-frequency identification chip.
Do not place metal objects, for exampleremote controls, coins and candywrappers, on or near the charging areawhen charging a device. Metal objects mayheat up and degrade the chargingperformance, in addition to causinginterruptions in charging.
Charging could be interrupted, degraded,or could stop if any of the following occur:
•The system detects a foreign object.
•The device is misaligned on thecharging area.
•The device moves on the activecharging area when the vehicle is inmotion.
•The vehicle ambient temperature is toohigh.
•You attempt to charge a non-Qicompatible device on the wirelesscharger.
Note:During charging, the device and thecharger could heat up, this is normal. If thebattery gets hotter than usual, the devicemay stop charging.

CHARGING A WIRELESS
DEVICE
Place the device on the center of thecharging surface with the charging sidedown. The charging stops after your devicereaches a full charge.
You can use the charger when the vehicleis in accessory mode, when the vehicle isrunning, or when SYNC is on.
Displays on the status bar whenwireless charging is in progress.
Note:The charging performance may beaffected if your device is in a case. It may benecessary to remove the case to wirelesslycharge your device.
Note:Software and firmware updates mayaffect device compatibility, including theuse of unofficial software or firmware. Youshould verify charging functionality with yourspecific devices in-vehicle.

DRIVE (D)
In drive (D) power is transmitted to thedriven wheels.
LOW (L) - GASOLINE
In low (L) your vehicle holds low gears.
Note:We recommend using this mode fordriving on hilly or mountainous roads orwhen towing a trailer. See Towing a Trailer(page 267).
LOW (L) - HYBRID ELECTRICVEHICLE (HEV)
In low (L) your vehicle decelerates morenoticeably than in drive (D) when theaccelerator pedal is released.
Note:We recommend using this mode fordriving on hilly or mountainous roads orwhen towing a trailer. See Towing a Trailer(page 267).
SHIFTING YOUR VEHICLE INTO

The selector is on the center console.
1.Press and hold the brake pedal.
2.Rotate the outer ring to select aposition.

Note:Your vehicle cannot shift from drive(D) to park (P) with a clockwise rotation.Your vehicle cannot shift from park (P) todrive (D) with a counterclockwise rotation.
3.Press the low (L) or manual (M) orsport (S) button when your vehicle isin drive (D) to enter or exit mode.

NORMAL
For everyday driving. This modeis a perfect balance ofexcitement, comfort andconvenience. This is the default mode aftereach ignition cycle.
SAND (If Equipped)
For off-road driving. Sand modeis for off-road driving on soft, drysand or deep conditions. Lowergears hold longer in sand mode to maintainmomentum in soft conditions. Sand modeoptimizes braking for off-road conditions,allowing quick path corrections andminimized stopping distance when ondeformable surfaces.
Note:Using sand mode on dry, hardsurfaces could produce some vibration,driveline bind up, potential excessive tirewear and vehicle wear.
Note:Do not use on firm, slippery surfaces,such as paved roads covered with snow orice or driving on packed snow. For slippery,firm surfaces use slippery mode.
SLIPPERY
For less than ideal roadconditions such as snow or icecovered roads. You can use thismode for crossing terrain where loose, wetor slippery materials covers a firm surface.Slippery mode lowers throttle responseand optimizes shifting for slippery surfaces.
SPORT (If Equipped)
For sporty driving with improvedperformance handling andresponse. This mode increasesthrottle response and provides a sportiersteering feel. The powertrain systemprovides improved gear holding, helpingyour vehicle accelerate faster.
TOW/HAUL
For improved transmissionoperation when towing a traileror a heavy load. This modemoves upshifts to higher engine speeds toreduce the frequency of transmissionshifting. This mode also provides enginebraking in all forward gears, which slowsyour vehicle and assists you in controllingyour vehicle when descending a slope. Theamount of downshift braking providedvaries based on the amount you press thebrake pedal.
The system tunes the steering to enhancedriving comfort when towing or carryingheavy loads.

Note:Start the engine and allow it to runfor a few minutes at the beginning of eachday, and every six hours or fewer. With theengine running and your foot on the brake,shift into drive (D) and then into reverse (R)before shifting back into neutral (N). Beforecontinuing to tow, switch neutral tow on.

If your vehicle becomes inoperable withoutaccess to wheel dollies or a vehicletransport trailer, it can be flat-towed withall wheels on the ground, regardless of thepowertrain and transmission configuration,under the following conditions:
•Your vehicle is facing forward fortowing in a forward direction.
•You switch Neutral Tow on.
•You release the parking brake.
•Maximum speed is 35 mph (55 km/h).
•Maximum distance is 50 mi (80 km).
Switching Neutral Tow On
1.Switch your vehicle on in accessorymode.
2.Press the menu button on the steeringwheel to enter the instrument clusterdisplay main menu.
3.Select Settings.
4.Select Neutral Tow.
5.Follow the instructions on theinformation display.
6.Fully press the brake pedal.
7.Shift into neutral (N).
8.Switch the ignition off.
Note:Failure to follow these instructionscould result in damage to the transmission.
