HOW DOES BLIND SPOT
INFORMATION SYSTEM WORK
Blind spot information system usessensors on both sides of your vehicle,detecting rearward from the exteriormirrors to approximately 13 ft (4 m)beyond the rear bumper. The detectionarea extends to approximately 59 ft (18 m)beyond the rear bumper when the vehiclespeed is greater than 30 mph (48 km/h)to alert you of faster approaching vehicles.

SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Do not use the blindspot information system as areplacement for using the interior andexterior mirrors or looking over yourshoulder before changing lanes. Theblind spot information system is not areplacement for careful driving.
WARNING: The system may notoperate properly during severe weatherconditions, for example snow, ice, heavyrain and spray. Always drive with duecare and attention. Failure to take caremay result in a crash.
Note: Blind spot information system doesnot prevent contact with other vehicles. Itdoes not detect parked vehicles,pedestrians, animals or other infrastructure.
BLIND SPOT INFORMATION
SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
Blind spot information system does notoperate in park (P) or reverse (R).
The system may not alert you if a vehiclequickly passes through the detection zone.
Note:For vehicles without blind spotinformation system with trailer coverage,aftermarket trailer tow modules or tow barsmay interfere with the system. In thissituation it is recommended that you switchthe system off when you attach a trailer. Forvehicles with a trailer tow module and towbar approved by the manufacturer, thesystem automatically turns off when youattach a trailer.

Cross Traffic Alert Limitationswith a Trailer Attached
The system remains on when you attacha trailer in vehicles with blind spotinformation system with trailer tow underthe following conditions:
•You connect a trailer.
•The trailer is a bike rack or cargo rackwith a maximum length of 3 ft (1 m).
•You set the trailer length to 3 ft (1 m)in the instrument cluster display.
Note:The system may not correctly operatewhen towing a trailer. For vehicles with atrailer tow module and tow bar approvedby the manufacturer, the system turns offwhen you attach a trailer. For vehicles withan aftermarket trailer tow module or towbar, we recommend that you switch thesystem off when you attach a trailer.

PRE-COLLISION ASSIST
LIMITATIONS
Pre-collision assist depends on thedetection ability of its camera and sensors.Any obstructions or damage to these areascan limit detection or prevent the systemfrom functioning. See Locating thePre-Collision Assist Sensors (page 331).
The system is active at 3 mph (5 km/h)and above.
Note:The pre-collision assist systemautomatically disables when you selectfour-wheel drive low or manually disableAdvanceTrac™.
Note:Brake support and automaticemergency braking are active at speeds upto 80 mph (130 km/h). If your vehicle has aradar sensor included with adaptive cruisecontrol, then brake support and automaticemergency braking are active up to themaximum speed of your vehicle.
Pedestrian Detection Limitations
Pedestrian detection is active at speedsup to 50 mph (80 km/h).
Pedestrian detection operates optimallywhen detected hazards are clearlyidentifiable. System performance mayreduce in situations where pedestrians arerunning, partly obscured, have a complexbackground, or cannot be distinguishedfrom a group.
Cyclist Detection Limitations
Cyclist detection is active at speeds up to50 mph (80 km/h).
Cyclist detection functions optimally whendetected hazards are clearly identifiable.System performance may reduce insituations where cyclists are fast-moving,partly obscured, have a complexbackground, or cannot be distinguishedfrom a group.

GVWR is the maximum allowableweight of the fully loaded vehicle.This includes all options,equipment, passengers and cargo.It appears on the SafetyCompliance Certification label.

Gross Combined Weight Rating(GCWR) is the maximumallowable weight of the vehicleand the loaded trailer, includingall cargo and passengers, that thevehicle can handle without riskingdamage. CALCULATING PAYLOAD
Tire and Loading Label InformationExample:
Payload is the combined weightof cargo and passengers that yourvehicle is carrying. The maximumpayload for your vehicle appearson the Tire and Loading label. Thelabel is either on the B-pillar or theedge of the driver door. Vehicles
exported outside the US andCanada may not have a tire andloading label. Look for “Thecombined weight of occupantsand cargo should never exceedXXX kg or XXX lb” for maximumpayload. The payload listed on theTire and Loading Information labelis the maximum payload for yourvehicle as built by the assemblyplant. If you install any additionalequipment on your vehicle, youmust determine the new payload.Subtract the weight of theequipment from the payload listedon the Tire and Loading label.When towing, trailer tongueweight or king pin weight is alsopart of payload.
CALCULATING THE LOAD
LIMIT
Steps for determining the correctload limit:
1.Locate the statement "Thecombined weight of occupantsand cargo should never exceedXXX kg or XXX lb." on yourvehicle’s placard.
2.Determine the combinedweight of the driver andpassengers that will be ridingin your vehicle.
3.Subtract the combined weightof the driver and passengersfrom XXX kg or XXX lb.

4.The resulting figure equals theavailable amount of cargo andluggage load capacity. Forexample, if the “XXX” amountequals 1,400 lb. and there willbe five 150 lb. passengers inyour vehicle, the amount ofavailable cargo and luggageload capacity is 650 lb.(1400-750 (5 x 150) = 650 lb.)
5.Determine the combinedweight of luggage and cargobeing loaded on the vehicle.That weight may not safelyexceed the available cargo andluggage load capacitycalculated in Step 4.
6.If your vehicle will be towing atrailer, load from your trailerwill be transferred to yourvehicle. Consult this manual todetermine how this reduces theavailable cargo and luggageload capacity of your vehicle.
Helpful examples forcalculating the availableamount of cargo and luggageload capacity
Suppose your vehicle has a1400-pound (635-kilogram) cargoand luggage capacity. You decideto go golfing. Is there enough loadcapacity to carry you, four of yourfriends and all the golf bags? Youand four friends average 220pounds (99 kilograms) each andthe golf bags weigh approximately30 pounds (13.5 kilograms) each.The calculation would be: 1400 -(5 x 220) - (5 x 30) = 1400 - 1100
- 150 = 150 pounds. Yes, you haveenough load capacity in yourvehicle to transport four friendsand your golf bags. In metric units,the calculation would be: 635kilograms - (5 x 99 kilograms) -(5 x 13.5 kilograms) = 635 - 495 -67.5 = 72.5 kilograms.
Suppose your vehicle has a1400-pound (635-kilogram) cargoand luggage capacity. You andone of your friends decide to pickup cement from the local homeimprovement store to finish thatpatio you have been planning forthe past two years. Measuring theinside of the vehicle with the rearseat folded down, you have roomfor twelve 100-pound(45-kilogram) bags of cement. Doyou have enough load capacity totransport the cement to yourhome? If you and your friend eachweigh 220 pounds (99 kilograms),the calculation would be: 1400 -(2 x 220) - (12 x 100) = 1400 - 440- 1200 = - 240 pounds. No, you donot have enough cargo capacityto carry that much weight. Inmetric units, the calculation wouldbe: 635 kilograms - (2 x 99kilograms) - (12 x 45 kilograms) =635 - 198 - 540 = -103 kilograms.You will need to reduce the loadweight by at least 240 pounds(104 kilograms). If you removethree 100-pound (45-kilogram)cement bags, then the loadcalculation would be: 1400 - (2 x220) - (9 x 100) = 1400 - 440 -

WARNING: Do not load any objectson the shelf that may obstruct your visionor strike occupants of the vehicle in thecase of a sudden stop or collision.
WARNING: Do not place people orpets on or under the parcel shelf.
Forward Divider
To move the board into the divider position,lift up on the handle and position the boardvertically at a 90° angle.
Note:The board operates with frictionhinges. This allows you to put it in anyposition between a 0° and a 90° angle.
Cargo Shelf
To move the board into the shelf position,lift the board and move it to the horizontalposition. Once the board is horizontal,insert the forward-facing nubs into thehooks on either side.
For the short wheelbase, it is necessary toraise up the second panel toward the frontof the vehicle when you have the seatsfolded down.
For the long wheelbase, it is necessary toraise up the second panel toward the frontof the vehicle.
Note:Before moving the board into theshelf position, you may need to flip downthe hooks.
Note:Do not put more than 50 lb (22 kg)on the shelf.
