The side airbags are on the outermost sideof the front seat backrests. In certainsideways crashes or rollovers, the airbagsinflate. The airbag was designed to inflatebetween the door panel and occupant tofurther enhance the protection providedto occupants in side impact crashes.
The system consists of the following:
•A label or embossed side panelindicating that the vehicle has sideairbags.
•Side airbags inside the driver and frontpassenger seat backrests.
•Crash sensors and monitoring systemwith a readiness indicator. See CrashSensors and Airbag Indicator (page75).
HOW DOES THE SAFETY
CANOPY™ WORK

WARNING: To reduce risk of injury,do not obstruct or place objects in thedeployment path of the airbag.
The Safety Canopy deploys duringsignificant side crashes or when a certainlikelihood of a rollover event is detectedby the rollover sensor. The Safety Canopyis mounted to the roof side rail sheet metal,behind the side rail trim, above each rowof seats. In certain sideways crashes orrollover events, the Safety Canopyactivates, regardless of which seats areoccupied. The Safety Canopy inflatesbetween the side window area andoccupants to further enhance protectionprovided in side impact crashes androllover events.

Properly restrain children 12 years old andunder in the rear seats. The Safety Canopywill not interfere with children restrainedusing a properly installed child or boosterseat because it is designed to inflatedownward from the side rail trim abovethe doors along the side window opening.

WIPERS
WIPER PRECAUTIONS
The vehicle is equipped with protectionfeatures to prevent damage to the wipermotor in case of overheating, usage on drywindshields or obstructions to the wiperblade due to snow or ice accumulation onthe windshield.
In such conditions, the wiper motor mayrestrict its speed, reduce area of cleaningor completely stop operation. Systemreturns back to normal operation modeonce conditions are resolved.
Do not operate the wipers on a drywindshield. This could scratch the glass ordamage the wiper blades. Use thewindshield washers before wiping a drywindshield.
Fully defrost the windshield before youswitch the windshield wipers on.
Switch the windshield wipers off beforeentering a car wash.

WARNING: When closing thepower windows, verify they are free ofobstruction and make sure that childrenand pets are not in the proximity of thewindow openings.
Press the control to open thewindow. Lift the control to closethe window.
Note:The power windows operate with theignition on, and for several minutes after youswitch the ignition off or until you open afront door.
To reduce wind noise or pulsing noise whenone window is open, slightly open theopposite window.
One-Touch Open (If Equipped)
Fully press the window control and releaseit. Press again or lift it to stop the window.
One-Touch Close (If Equipped)
Fully lift the window control and releaseit. Press again or lift it to stop the window.
Resetting One-Touch Close
Carry out all steps within 30 seconds ofstarting the sequence.
1.Fully open the window.
2.Lift and hold the window control untilthe window is fully closed. Keep thewindow control held for a two seconds
3.Press and hold the window control untilthe window is fully open. Keep thewindow control pressed for twoseconds.
4.Lift and hold the window control untilthe window is fully closed. Keep thewindow control held for a two seconds
Note:Repeat the procedure if the windowdoes not close when you use one-touch.
Tailgate Window
To open the window, do the following:

You can use the remote control to openthe windows with the ignition off.

3.Release the button when the windowsstart to open.
Press the lock or the unlock button on theremote control to stop global opening.

WINDOW BOUNCE-BACK
WHAT IS WINDOW BOUNCE-BACK
The window stops and reverses if it detectsan obstruction when closing.
OVERRIDING WINDOW BOUNCE-BACK
WARNING: If you overridebounce-back, the window does notreverse if it detects an obstacle. Takecare when closing the windows to avoidpersonal injury or damage to yourvehicle.
1.Close the window until it reaches thepoint of resistance and let it reverse.
2.Lift and hold the window control switchwithin two seconds to overridebounce-back and close the window.Bounce-back is now disabled and youcan close the window manually.
Note:The window goes past the point ofresistance and you can fully close it.
Note:If the window does not close, haveyour vehicle checked as soon as possible.
LOCKING THE REAR WINDOW
CONTROLS
Press the window control switchto lock or unlock the rear windowcontrols. It illuminates when youlock the rear window controls.
