front and rear wind owsre paired at a

rticular ly,ke ep the areas around the sensors
and cameras free of dirt, ice or slush
(/ page 373). The sensors and cameras must
not be co vered and the de tection ranges around
th em must be kept free. Do not at tach additional licence plate brac
kets, advertisements, stic kers,
fo ils or foils toprotect against stone chippings in
th e de tection range of the sensors and cameras.
Make sure that there are no overhanging loads
pr otru ding into the de tection range.
If th ere is damage toa bumper or thera diator
gr ille, or aTer an impact, ha vethe function of the
senso rschecked at a quali/ed specialist work-
shop. Ha vedamage or stone chipping in the area
of the cameras on the front and rear wind ows
re paired at a quali/ed specialist workshop.

% The microsleep de tection sub-function is only
av ailable in combination with the driver cam-
era (/ page 315).
AT TENTION ASSIST assists you on long, mono to-
nous journe ys, e.g. on mo torw ays and trunk
ro ads. If indicators of fatigue or increasing lapses
in concentration on the part of the driver are
de tected, the system suggests taking a break.
AT TENTION ASSIST is only an aid. It cannot
alw ays de tect fatigue or lapses in concentration in
time. The system is not a substitute for a well-res-
te d and attentive driver. On long journe ys,ta ke
re gular breaks in good time that allow for ade-
qu ate recuperation.
Yo u can choose between two settings:

If yo u do not take a break and ATTENTION ASSIST
continues todetect increasing lapses in concen-
tration, you will be warned again aTer a minimum
of 15 minutes. The

er's displa y:

ASSIST Microsleep Take a break! warning mes-
sage appears in the driver's display and a warning
to ne sounds simultaneousl y.This warning mes-
sage must be con/ rmed byTouch Control. It is
re commended that youta ke a break immediatel y.

area sear chis o.ered in the multimedia system. Yo
u can select a rest area and start navigation to
th is rest area.

The microsleep de tection function is available at a
speed of 20 km/h and abo ve.

imately 30 minutes.
