The key's factory setting enables youto centrally
lock and unlock thefo llowing components:
R the driver's door and co-driver door

yo u do not open theve hicle within appr ox‐
imately 40 seconds of unlocking, theve hicle
will lock again and anti-theft pr otection will
be primed again.
Do not keep theke yto ge ther with electronic devi‐
ces or me tallic objects. This can af fect theke y's
functionalit y.

th ech eck lamp does not light up when you
press the0036 or0037 button, the battery is
dischar ged.

Opening the tailgate in an emer gency
If th e battery voltage is low or thevo ltage supply
is inter rupte d,theta ilgate cannot be opened.
In an emer gency, you can open theta ilgate using
th ere lease cat chfor service purposes. #
Prise off the co ver on the lo wer part of the
ta ilgate with a suitable tool, e.g. the scr ew‐
driver from theve hicle tool kit. #
Insert the scr ewdriver into the opening and
mo vethere lease le ver until theta ilgate
unloc ksand opens. #
Lift theta ilgate upwards. EAS

Obstruction de
tection with reve rsing function
The tailgate is equipped with automatic object
de tection with reve rsing function. If a solid object
bloc ksorrestricts theta ilgate during the auto‐
matic closing process, theta ilgate opens again
automaticall y.The automatic object de tection
wi th reve rsing function is only an aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attentiveness when closing
th eta ilgate. &
WARNING Risk of becoming trapped
despite reve rsing function
The reve rsing feature does not react:
R tosoft, light and thin objects, e.g. fingers
R overth e last 8 mm of the closing mo ve‐
ment
The reve rsing feature therefore cann otpre‐
ve nt someone being trapped in these situa‐
tions. #
Make sure that no body parts are in the
closing area.
If someone is trapped: R press the008C button on theke y or
R press the closing button on theta ilgate or
R pull the handle of theta ilgate Opening and closing

Setting the end position
Yo u can set the opening angle of theta ilgate by
saving the desired position as the end position. #
Open theta ilgate and stop automatic opera‐
tion in the desired position.

Open theta ilgate and manually swing it into
th e desired position. #
Press and hold the closing button 008Con
th eta ilgate until the confirmation tone
sounds once.
The cur rent position of theta ilgate has been
sa ve d as the end position.
Re setting tothe maximum opening angle #
Open theta ilgate. #
Press and hold the closing button 008Con
th eta ilgate until the confirmation tone
sounds twice.
The sa ved end position has been dele ted and
th eta ilgate opens again tothe maximum
ex tent.
Re setting the tailgate
Yo u must reset theta ilgate if there has been a
malfunction or an inter ruption in thevo ltage sup‐
ply. #
Ifth eta ilgate is open: close theta ilgate by
hand. #
Brief lypress the button in the handle of the
ta ilgate, step out of the swinging range of the
ta ilgate and open thetai lgate. #
When theta ilgate is fully open, press the
008C closing button in theta ilgate and step
out of the swinging range of theta ilgate.
The tailgate closes. When thetai lgate is fully
closed, it is reset and operational.

med for operating theta ilgate (/ page61),

neously for appro ximately five seconds.
Af ter successfully changing the function, the
ve hicle turn signal lamps flash once. #

When you open a side wind ow, parts of the
body could be dr awn in or become trapped
between the side window and window frame. #
When opening, make sure that nobody
is touching the side windo w. #

Push in the catch spring of lens 1with a
suitable object, e.g. a scr ewdriver, and then
prise off the lens with the lamp housing. #
Push the lugs of soc ket2 inwa rds. #
Remo velight source 3from the lamp hous‐
ing. #
Insert the new light source. #
Position the lens on the lamp housing and
engage it. #
Align the lens with the lamp housing and
engage it.
Ad ditional interior and sur round lighting
Depending on the equipment, replacing the light
sources as described here applies tothefo llow‐
ing lamps:
R The sun visor mir ror lamp
R The ambient lamp at the bottom of the front
door
R The ambient lamp on the inside of theta ilgate #
Push in the catch spring of lamp housing 1
with a suitable object, e.g. a scr ewdriver, and
prise off lamp housing 1. #
Turn soc ket2 anti-clo ckwise and pull it out
of lamp housing 1. #
Pull bulb 3out of soc ket2. #
Push new bulb 3into soc ket2. #
Screw soc ket2 into la mphousing 1by
turning it clo ckwise. #
Place lamp housing 1in position on the left
and engage it.
Signal and ambient lamp in the tailgate #
Push in the catch spring of the lamp housing
on the side of transparent lens 3with a suit‐
able object, e.g. a scr ewdriver, and prise off
th e lamp housing. #
Turn soc ket2 anti-clo ckwise and pull it out
of the lamp housing. #
Pull the bulb out of soc ket2. #
Push the new bulb into soc ket2. Light and vision
