Always ensure that the front passenger
airbag is disabled. The PASSENGER AIR
BA G OFF indicator lamp must be lit. #
NEVER use a rear wa rd-facing child
re stra int sy stem on a seat with an ENA‐
BLED FRONT AIRB AG. This can result in
th e DEAT H of or SERIOUS INJURY tothe
CH ILD. When
fitting a child restra int sy stem tothe co-
driver seat, obser vetheve hicle-specific informa‐
tion (/ page 46).
Depending on thech ild restra int sy stem and the
st ature of thech ild, thePA SSENGER AIR BAG
OFF indicator lamp may be off. In this case, do
not fit th ere ar wa rd-facing child restra int sy stem
to the co-driver seat.
Ins tead, fit th ere ar wa rd-facing child restra int
sy stem toa suitable rear seat.
Af terfitting a forw ard-facing child restra int
sy stem tothe co-d rive r seat: depending on the
ch ild restra int sy stem and thest ature of the
ch ild, PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF may be lit con‐
tinuously or be off. Alw ays obser vethefo llowing
information. &

th at is positioned too close tothe cockpit, in

Always mo vethe front passenger seat
as far back as possible and fully retract
th e seat cushion length adjustment.
While doing so, alw ays make sure that
th e shoulder belt stra p is cor rectly
ro uted from the seat belt outlet of the
ve hicle tothe shoulder belt guide on the
ch ild restra int sy stem. The shoulder belt
st ra p must be routed forw ards and
down wards fr omthe seat belt outlet. If
necessar y,adjust the seat belt outlet
and the front passenger seat accord‐
ingly. #
Always comply with thech ild restra int
sy stem manufacturer's ins tallation
instructions. When
fitting a child restra int sy stem tothe co-
driver seat, obser vetheve hicle-specific informa‐
tion (/ page 46).
If a person is sitting on the co-d rive r seat:
PA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF may be lit continuously
or be off, depending on the person's stature.
A person on the co-driver seat must alw ays
obser vethefo llowing information:
R Ifth e co-driver seat is occupied byan adult or
a person with a stature cor responding tothat
of an adult, thePA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF
indicator lamp must be off. This indicates that
th e co-driver airbag is enabled.
If th ePA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator
lamp is lit continuousl y,an adult or person
with a build cor responding tothat of an adult
should not use the co-driver seat.
Ins tead, they should use a rear seat.

adjust the seat/bunk combination.
The seat/bunk combination can accommodate
th re e persons. You can adjust the seat backrest
to ave rtical and horizon tal position. If you set the
seat backrest tothe horizontal position, this –
to ge ther with the bed extension – will gi veyou a
full-length bed for two people.
Pa ssengers may use the seats of the seat/bunk
combination only when the seat backrest is
upright. Only then do the seat belts pr ovide the
intended deg ree of pr otection.
The seat/bunk combination is fitted wi thtwo
re mo vable stow age compartments under the seat
sur face (/ page 98). You can use these stow‐
age compartments tostore bedding, forex ample.

Basic setting
St arting from the basic setting 0047,the seat/bunk
combination for passengers can be mo vedfo r‐

nction of ATTENTION ASSI ST
AT TENTION ASSIST can assist you on long,
mon otonous jou rney s, e.g. on mo torw ays and
trunk roads. If ATTENTION ASSIST de tects indica‐
to rs of fatigue or increased lapses in concentra‐
tion on the part of the driver, it suggests taking a
brea k.
AT TENTION ASSIST is only an aid. It cannot
alw ays de tect dr owsiness or increased lapses in
concentration in good time. The sy stem is not a
substitute for a well-res ted and attentive driver.
On long journe ys,ta ke regular and timely breaks
th at allow youto rest properly.
If fatigue or increased lapses in concentration are
de tected, theATTENTION ASSIST: Take a break!
wa rning appears in the instrument clus ter.
Yo u can ackn owledge the message and take a
break if necessar y.Ifyo u do not take a break and
AT TENTION ASSIST continues todetect increased
lapses in concentration, you will be warned again
af te r a minimum of 15minutes.
If a warning is displa yed in the instrument clus ter,
th e multimedia sy stem of fers to sear chfor a rest
area. You can select a rest area and start naviga‐
tion tothis rest area. This function can be activa‐
te d and deactivated in the multimedia sy stem. Yo

If AT TENTION ASSIST cannot calculatethe atten‐
tion le vel and cannot issue a warning, theSys-
tem suspended message appears.
The bar display is then dimmed. This is the case,
fo rex ample, if you are predominantly driving at a
speed below 60 km/h or abo ve200 km/h.
Sy stem limits
AT TENTION ASSIST is active in the 60 km/h to
200 km/h speed range.
The functionality of ATTENTION ASSIST is restric‐
te d, and warnings may be dela yed or not occur at
all, in thefo llowing situations:
R the journey lasts less than appr oximately 30
minutes
R thero ad condition is poor (une venro ad sur‐
fa ce or po tholes)
R theve hicle is subjected toastro ng crosswind
R you ha vea sporty driving style (high cornering
speeds or high rates of acceleration)
R the time is set incor rectly
R youch ange lanes and vary your speed fre‐
qu ently in active driving situations
The ATTENTION ASSIST dr owsiness or alertness
assessment is dele ted and restar ted when con‐
tinuing the journey in thefo llowing situations:
