The Parking Support Brake funct ion (for static objects) can be
changed on the multi-in formation display (P. 117).
Press or of the meter control switches ( P. 118), select
.
Press or of the meter control switches, select and
press to select the desi red setting (on/off).
When the Parking Support
Brake function (for static
objects) is OFF (disabled), the
PKSB OFF indicator illumi-
nates.
When switched OFF (disable) and
the Parking Support Brake function
(for static objects) is suspended,
system operations do not resume
until the function is switched ON
(enable) through the settings
screen on the multi-information dis-
play. (System operation does not
resume by operating the power
switch.)
When the Parking Support Brake function (for static objects) de tects
an static obstacle with a probab ility of collision, the fuel cell system
output is restricted to restrain an increase in vehicle speed. (fuel cell
system output restri ction control: A)
Furthermore, when the accelerator pedal continues to be depress ed,
the brakes are applied to reduce the vehicle speed. (Brake Control: B)

Operation starting conditions
When the PKSB OFF indicator is not illuminated or flashing
(
P. 283, 419) and all of the fo llowing conditions are met, the
system operates.
Fuel cell system output restriction control
● The Parking Support Brake functi on (for static objects) is ON
(enabled).
● The vehicle speed is 10 mph (15 km/h) or less.
● There is a static obstacle in th e traveling direction of the vehicle
(6 to 13 ft. [2 to 4 m] ahead).
● The system determined that a stronger-than-normal brake opera-
tion was necessary to avoid a collision.
Brake control
● Fuel cell system output restrict ion control is being performed.
● The system determined that a n emergency brake operation was
necessary to av oid a collision.
■Operation ending conditions
In any of the following conditi ons, the system stops operating.
Fuel cell system output restriction control
● The Parking Support Brake function (for static objects) has been
turned OFF (disabled).
● The collision became a voidable with normal brake operation.
● The static object is no longer in the traveling direction of th e vehi-
cle (6 to 13 ft. [2 to 4 m] ahead).
Brake control
● The Parking Support Brake function (for static objects) has been
turned OFF (disabled).
● Approximately 2 seconds elapsed after the vehicle was stopped
by brake control.
● The brake control was depress ed after the vehicle was stopped
by brake control.
● The static obstacle is no longer in the traveling direction of the
vehicle (6 to 13 ft. [2 to 4 m] ahead).

When the fuel cell system output restriction control or brake control
operates, the buzzer sounds and a message is displayed on the m ulti-
information display to alert the driver.
Depending on the situation, output restriction control operates to either
limit acceleration or restrict output as much as possible.

Conditions under which the Rear C ross Traffic Alert function may not
function correctly
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function may not detect vehicles c orrectly in the
following conditions:
● During bad weather such as heavy rain, fog, snow, etc.
● When ice or mud, etc., is attached to the rear bumper
● When multiple vehicles approach continuously
● Shallow angle parking
● When a vehicle is approaching at high speed
● When parking on a steep incline, such as hills, a dip in the road, etc.
● Directly after the Blind Spot Monitor system is on
● Directly after the fuel cell system is started with the Blind S pot Monitor sys-
tem is on
● Vehicles that the sensors cannot detect
because of obstacles

◆EPS (Electric Power Steering)
Employs an electric motor to reduce the amount of effort needed to
turn the steering wheel
The slip indicator will flash while
the TRAC/VSC/ABS systems are
operating.
If the vehicle gets stuck in mud, dirt or snow, the TRAC system may
reduce power from the fuel cell system to the wheels. Pressing
to turn the system off may make it easier for you to rock the vehicle in
order to free it.
To turn the TRAC system off,
quickly press and release .
The “TRAC OFF” is displayed on
the multi-information display.
Press again to turn the sys-
tem back on.

■Turning off both TRAC and VSC systems
To turn the TRAC and VSC systems off, press and hold for more than 3
seconds while the vehicle is stopped.
The VSC OFF indicator will come on and the “TRAC OFF” is displa yed on the
multi-information display.
Press again to turn the systems back on.
Pre-collision brake assist and pre-collision braking will also be disabled. The
PCS warning light will come on and the message is shown on the multi-infor-
mation display. ( P. 237)
■ When the message is displayed on the multi-information display show-
ing that TRAC has been disab led even if has not been pressed
TRAC and hill-start assist control cannot be operated. Contact your Toyota
dealer.
■ Sounds and vibrations caused by the ABS, brake assist, VSC, TRAC and
hill-start assist control systems
Any of the following conditions may occur when the above system s are oper-
ating. None of these indicates that a malfunction has occurred.
● Vibrations may be felt through the vehicle body and steering.
● A motor sound may be heard after the vehicle comes to a stop.
● The brake pedal may pulsate slightly after the ABS is activated .
● The brake pedal may move down slightly after the ABS is activat ed.
■ ECB operating sound
ECB operating sound may be heard in the following cases, but it does not
indicate that a malfunction has occurred.
● Operating sound heard from motor compartment when the brake ped al is
operated.
● Motor sound of the brake system heard from the front part of th e vehicle
when the driver’s door is opened.
● Operating sound heard from the motor compartment when 1 or 2 mi nutes
passed after the stop of the fuel cell system.
■ EPS operation sound
When the steering wheel is operated, a motor sound (whirring so und) may be
heard. This does not indicate a malfunction.
