Driving
Regulations regarding the use of tire chains vary depending on loca-
tion and type of road. Always chec k local regulations before installing
chains.
■ Tire chain installation
Observe the following precautions when installing and removing chains:
● Install and remove tire chains in a safe location.
● Install tire chains on the front tires. Do not install tire chains on the rear tires.
● Install tire chains on front tires as tightly as possible. Reti ghten chains after
driving 1/4 1/2 mile (0.5 1.0 km).
● Install tire chains following the instructions provided with th e tire chains.
Regulations on the use of tire chains
WARNING
■Driving with snow tires
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of acciden ts.
Failure to do so may result in a loss of vehicle control and ca use death or
serious injury.
● Use tires of the specified size.
● Maintain the recommended level of air pressure.
● Do not drive in excess of 75 mph (120 km/h), regardless of the type of
snow tires being used.
● Use snow tires on all, not just some wheels.
■ Driving with tire chains (vehicles with 16 and 17-inch tires)
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of acciden ts.
Failure to do so may result in the vehicle being unable to be d riven safely,
and may cause death or serious injury.
● Do not drive in excess of the speed limit specified for the tir e chains being
used, or 30 mph (50 km/h), whichever is lower.
● Avoid driving on bumpy road surfaces or over potholes.
● Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shifting
operations that cause sudden engine braking.
● Slow down sufficiently before entering a curve to ensure that v ehicle con-
trol is maintained.
● Do not use LDA (Lane Departure Alert with steering control) sys tem.

NOTICE
■Repairing or replacing snow tires
Request repairs or replacement of snow tires from Toyota dealer s or legiti-
mate tire retailers.
This is because the removal and attachment of snow tires affect s the opera-
tion of the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters.
■ Fitting tire chains (vehicles with 16 and 17-inch tires)
The tire pressure warning valves and transmitters may not funct ion correctly
when tire chains are fitted.

Interior features
■Adjusting the temperature setting
To adjust the temperature settin g, turn clockwise to increase
the temperature and counterclockwise to decrease the tempera-
ture.
If is not pressed, the system will blow ambient temperature air or
heated air.
The air conditioning system switches between individual and syn chro-
nized modes each time is pressed.
Synchronized modes (indicator on):
The driver’s side
dial can be used to adjust the temperature for
the driver’s and front passenger’s side. At this time, operate the front
passenger’s side
dial to enter individual mode.
Individual modes (indicator off):
The temperature for the driver’s and front passenger’s side can be
adjusted separately.

Fan speed setting
To adjust the fan speed, press to increase the fan speed
and to decrease the fan speed.
Press to turn the fan off.

■Change the airflow mode
To change the airflow mode,

The air outlets used are

■S-FLOW mode
In S-FLOW mode, priority for the airflow is given to the front seats,
reducing the airflow and air conditioning effect on the rear se ats.
The system determines whether or not a front passenger is in the
vehicle by the opening and closing of the front passenger’s door.
When a front passenger is determined not to be in the vehicle, the
temperature indicator for the fr ont passenger side will turn off. In
this case, depending on the set temperature and ambient tempera -
ture, priority for the airflow w ill be given to the driver's seat only.
The following S-FLOW modes are available:
Automatic S-FLOW mode
In this mode, the system determi nes whether or not a rear passen-
ger is in the vehicle by the opening and closing of a rear door .
When a rear passenger is determ ined to be in the vehicle, S-FLOW
mode will be automat ically disabled. (P. 3 5 4 )
The indicator will illuminate when S-FLOW mode is enabled.
To enable/disable S-FLOW mode and enter manual S-FLOW mode,
press . ( P. 354)

Manual S-FLOW mode
When is pressed, S-FLOW mo de will be manually enabled/
disabled.
The indicator will illuminate when S-FLOW mode is enabled.
Press .
The dehumidification function begi ns to operate. Air outlets and fan
speed are automatically adjusted according to the temperature s et-
ting.
Adjust the temperature setting.
To stop the operation, press .
■Automatic mode indicator
If the fan speed setting or air flow modes are operated, the au to-
matic mode indicator goes off. However, automatic mode for func -
tions other than that o perated is maintained.

■Switching between outside air and recirculated air modes
Press .
The mode switches between outside air mode (indicator off) and recir-
culated air mode (indicator on) each time is pressed.
■
Defogging the windshield
Defoggers are used to defog the windshield and front side win-
dows.
Press .
The dehumidification function operates and fan speed increases.
Set the outside/recirculated air mode button to the outside air mode if
the recirculated air mode is used. (It may switch automatically .)
To defog the windshield and the side windows early, turn the ai r flow and
temperature up.
To return to the previous mode, press again when the windshield
is defogged.

Defogging the rear window and outside rear view mirrors
Vehicles without outside rear view mirror defoggers
A defogger is used to defog the rear window.
Press .
The defogger will automatically turn off after a period of time .
Vehicles with outside rear view mirror defoggers
Defoggers are used to defog the rear window, and to remove rain -
drops, dew and frost from the outside rear view mirrors.
Press .
The defoggers will automatically turn off after a period of tim e.
