HomeLink® replaces up to three remote controls
(hand-held transmitters) that operate devices
such as garage door openers, motorized gates,
lighting or home security systems. The
HomeLink® unit operates off your vehicle’s
battery.
The HomeLink® buttons, located on either the
ov
erhead console, headliner or sunvisor, designate the three different HomeLink®
channels. The HomeLink® indicator is located
above the center button.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN PROGRAMMING

OMELINK®
Be sure that your vehicle is parked outside of
the garage before you begin programming.
For more efficient programming and accurate
t r
ansmission of the Radio Frequency (RF) signal
it is recommended that a new battery be placed
in the hand-held transmitter of the device that is
being programmed to the HomeLink® system.
To erase the channels, place the ignition in the
ON
/RUN position, and push and hold the two
outside HomeLink® buttons (I and III) for up to
20 seconds or until the orange indicator
flashes.
NOTE:
Erasing all channels should only be
performed when programming HomeLink®
for the first time. Do not erase channels when
programming additional buttons.

Place as much cargo as possible in front of
the rear axle. Too much weight or improp -
erly placed weight over or behind the rear
a x
le can cause the vehicle to sway.
Do not pile luggage or cargo higher than the
top of the seatback. This could impair visi-
bility or become a dangerous projectile in a
su
dden stop or collision.
To help protect against personal injury,
passengers should not be seated in the
rear cargo area. The rear cargo space is
intended for load carrying purposes only,
not for passengers, who should sit in seats
and use seat belts.

Programming A Rolling Code
For programming garage door openers that
were manufactured after 1995:
These garage door openers can be identified by
th
e “LEARN” or “TRAIN” button located where
the hanging antenna is attached to the garage
door opener. It is NOT the button that is
normally used to open and close the door.
The name and color of the button may vary by
m a
nufacturer.
Training The Garage Door Opener
1. P
lace the ignition in the ON/RUN position.

For vehicles equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go,

ace the ignition in the RUN position with the
engine ON. Make sure while programming
HomeLink® with the engine ON that your
vehicle is outside of your garage, or that the
garage door remains open at all times.

while keeping the HomeLink® indicator
light in view.
3. Push and hold the HomeLink® button you w
ant to program while you push and hold

he indicator light. The HomeLink® indicator
will flash slowly and then rapidly after
HomeLink® has received the frequency
signal from the hand-held transmitter.
Release both buttons after the indicator light
changes from slow to rapid.
5. A t the garage door opener (in the garage),

ocate the “LEARN” or “TRAINING” button. This can usually be found where the
hanging antenna wire is attached to
the garage door opener/device motor.

rmly push and release the “LEARN” or
“TRAINING” button. On some garage door
openers/devices there may be a light that
blinks when the garage door opener/device
is in the LEARN/TRAIN mode.
NOTE:
You have 30 seconds in which to initiate the

xt step after the LEARN button has been
pushed.
6. R eturn to the vehicle and push the
p
rogrammed HomeLink® button twice
(holding the button for two seconds each
time). If the garage door opener/device
activates, programming is complete.
NOTE:
If the garage door opener/device does not
activate, push the button a third time (for
two seconds) to complete the training.
To program the remaining two
HomeLink® buttons, repeat each step
for each remaining button. DO NOT erase
the channels.

CANADIAN/GATE OPERATOR
P
ROGRAMMING
For programming transmitters in Canada/
United States that require the transmitter
signals to “time-out” after several seconds of
transmission:
Canadian radio frequency laws require
t r
ansmitter signals to time-out (or quit) after
several seconds of transmission, which may not
be long enough for HomeLink® to pick up the
signal during programming. Similar to this
Canadian law, some U.S. gate operators are
designed to time-out in the same manner. It may be helpful to unplug the device during the
c
y
cling process to prevent possible overheating
of the garage door or gate motor.
1. P lace the ignition in the ON/RUN position.

the engine on. Make sure while programming
HomeLink® with the engine on that your vehicle

3. Continue to push and hold the HomeLink® b
utton while you push and release (“cycle”) your
hand-held transmitter every two seconds until
HomeLink® has successfully accepted the
frequency signal. The indicator light will flash
slowly and then rapidly when fully trained.

4. Watch for the HomeLink® indicator to change flash rates. When it changes, it is
programmed. It may take up to 30 seconds
or longer in rare cases. The garage door
may open and close while you are
programming.
5. P ush and hold the programmed

If the indicator light stays on constantly,
programming is complete and the garage
door/device should activate when the
HomeLink® button is pushed.
To program the two remaining HomeLink®

If you unplugged the garage door opener/

vice for programming, plug it back in at this
time.
USING HOMELINK®
To operate, push and release the programmed
HomeLink® button. Activation will now occur for
the programmed device (i.e. garage door opener,
gate operator, security system, entry door lock,
home/office lighting, etc.) The hand-held
transmitter of the device may also be used at any
time.
SECURITY
It is advised to erase all channels before you sell
or turn in your vehicle.
To do this, push and hold the two outside
b u
ttons for 20 seconds until the red indicator
flashes.
NOTE:
All channels will be erased. Individual channels
ca
nnot be erased.
The HomeLink® Universal Transceiver is disabled
w h
en the vehicle security alarm is active.

Replace the battery in the garage door
opener hand-held transmitter.
Push the LEARN button on the garage door
opener to complete the training for a Rolling
Code.

Vehicle exhaust contains carbon monoxide,

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY
Your vehicle may be equipped with an
instrument cluster display, which offers useful
information to the driver. With the ignition in
the OFF mode, opening/closing of a door will
a c
tivate the display for viewing, and display
the total miles, or kilometers, in the odometer.
Y o
ur instrument cluster display is designed to
display important information about your
vehicle’s systems and features. Using a driver
interactive display located on the instrument
panel, your instrument cluster display can show
you how systems are working and give you
warnings when they aren’t. The steering wheel
mounted controls allow you to scroll through
and enter the main menus and submenus.
You can access the specific information you

nt and make selections and adjustments.

The Trip Functions mode displays the following
information:
Trip A
Shows the total distance traveled for Trip A
since the last reset.
Shows the elapsed time traveled for Trip A
since the last reset.
Trip B
Shows the total distance traveled for Trip B
since the last reset.
Shows the elapsed time traveled for Trip B
since the last reset.
Elapsed Time
Shows the total elapsed time of travel since the

st reset. Elapsed time will increment when the
ignition is in the ON/RUN position.
To Reset The Display
Reset will only occur while a resettable function
i s
being displayed. Push and release the right
arrow button once to clear the resettable
function.
Tire Pressure
Push and release the up or down arrow button
until “Tire PSI:” displays highlighted in the
instrument cluster display. Push and release
the right arrow button to view a graphic of the
vehicle with a tire pressure value at each corner
of the graphic.

Features)
Push and release the up or down arrow button
until “Vehicle Info” displays in the instrument
cluster display and push the right arrow button.
Push the up or down arrow button to scroll
through the available information displays.
Coolant Temperature
Displays the actual coolant temperature.
Oil Temperature
Displays the actual oil temperature.
Oil Pressure - If Equipped
Displays the actual oil pressure.
Transmission Temperature
Displays the actual transmission temperature.
Engine Hours
Displays the number of hours of engine operation.
Messages
Push and release the up or down arrow button
until “Messages: XX” displays highlighted in the
instrument cluster display. If there is more than
one message, pushing the right arrow button
will display a stored warning message. Push
and release the up or down arrow button if there
is more than one message to cycle through the
remaining stored messages. If there are no
messages, pushing the right arrow button will
not change the display.
Turn Menu OFF
Select from the Main Menu using the up or
down arrow button. Pushing the right arrow
button clears the menu display. Pushing any
one of the four Display control buttons will bring
the menu back.

POWER STEERING
The standard power steering system will give
you good vehicle response and increased ease
of maneuverability in tight spaces. The system
will provide mechanical steering capability if
power assist is lost.
If for some reason the power assist is
in
terrupted, it will still be possible to steer
your vehicle. Under these conditions, you will
o b
serve a substantial increase in steering
effort, especially at very low vehicle speeds
and during parking maneuvers.
NOTE:
Increased noise levels at the end of the
steering wheel travel are considered normal
and do not indicate that there is a problem
with the power steering system.
Upon initial start-up in cold weather, the
power steering pump may make noise for a
short amount of time. This is due to the cold,
thick fluid in the steering system. This noise
should be considered normal, and it does not
in any way damage the steering system.
POWER STEERING FLUID CHECK
Checking the power steering fluid level at a
defined service interval is not required. The fluid
should only be checked if a leak is suspected,
abnormal noises are apparent, and/or the
system is not functioning as anticipated.
Coordinate inspection efforts through an
authorized dealer. If necessary, add fluid to restore to the proper
in
dicated level. With a clean cloth, wipe any
spilled fluid from all surfaces. Refer to “Fluids
And Lubricants” in “Technical Specifications”
for the correct fluid type.
SPEED CONTROL — IF EQUIPPED
When engaged, the Speed Control takes over
accelerator operations at speeds greater than
25 mph (40 km/h).
The Speed Control buttons are located on the
r i
ght side of the steering wheel.
CAUTION!
Prolonged operation of the steering system at
the end of the steering wheel travel will
increase the steering fluid temperature and it
should be avoided when possible. Damage to
the power steering pump may occur.
WARNING!
Fluid level should be checked on a level
surface and with the engine off to prevent
injury from moving parts and to ensure
accurate fluid level reading. Do not overfill.
Use only manufacturer's recommended
power steering fluid.
CAUTION!
Do not use chemical flushes in your power
steering system as the chemicals can
damage your power steering components.
Such damage is not covered by the New
Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Speed Control Buttons
NOTE:
In order to ensure proper operation, the Speed
Co
ntrol system has been designed to shut down
if multiple Speed Control functions are operated
at the same time. If this occurs, the Speed
Control system can be reactivated by pushing
the Speed Control ON/OFF button and resetting
the desired vehicle set speed.
TO ACTIVATE
Push the ON/OFF button. The Cruise Indicator
Light in the instrument cluster display will
illuminate. To turn the system off, push the
ON/OFF button a second time. The Cruise
I n
dicator Light will turn off. The system should
be turned off when not in use.
TO SET A DESIRED SPEED
Turn the Speed Control on. When the vehicle has
reached the desired speed, push the SET (-)
button and release. Release the accelerator and
the vehicle will operate at the selected speed.
NOTE:
The vehicle should be traveling at a steady
s p
eed and on level ground before pushing the
SET (-) button.
TO VARY THE SPEED SETTING
To Increase Speed
When the Speed Control is set, you can increase
s p
eed by pushing the RES (+) button.
The driver’s preferred units can be selected
t h
rough the instrument panel settings (if
equipped). Refer to “Getting To Know Your
Instrument Panel” for more information. The
speed increment shown is dependent on the
chosen speed unit of U.S. (mph) or Metric (km/h):
U.S. Speed (mph)
Pushing the RES (+) button once will result in
a 1 mph increase in set speed. Each subse -
quent tap of the button results in an increase
o f
1 mph.
If the button is continually pushed, the set
speed will continue to increase until the
button is released, then the new set speed
will be established.

WARNING!
Leaving the Speed Control system on when
not in use is dangerous. You could
accidentally set the system or cause it to go
faster than you want. You could lose control
and have an accident. Always leave the
system off when you are not using it.
