Anti-lock
Braking
System ABS
ABS
prevents
locking
of
the
wheels
during
brakjing.
The
vehicle
maintains
its
steering
power
even during
full
brake
applications,
thus
increasing
acjtive
safety.
ABS
is
operational
every
time
you
start
the
enj gine.
Brake
assistant
When
you
apply
the
brakes
rapidly,
this
system
automatically
boosts
the
vehicle
braking
capabilj ity
to
the
furthest
possible
extent.
It
reduces
thebraking
distance
to
a
minimum
during
an
emerjgency
stop.
This
system
utilizes
all
of
the
capajbilities
provided
by
the
Antilock
Brake
SystemABS.
Do
not
reduce
the
pressure
on
the
brake
pedal for
the
duration
of
the
emergency
stop.
Adaptive
brake
assistant
In
combination
with
Active
Cruise
Control,
this
system
ensures
that
the
brakes
respond
even more
rapidly
when
braking
in
critical
situations.
Drive-off
assistant
Concept
This
system
supports
driving
off
on
uphill
grades.
Driving
off
1.Hold
the
vehicle
in
place
with
the
foot
brake.2.Release
the
foot
brake
and
drive
off
withoutdelay.
After
the
foot
brake
is
released,
the
vehicle
is
held
in
place
for
approx.
2
seconds.
Depending
on
the
vehicle
loading
or
when
a
trailer
is
used,

roll

Dynamic
Stability Control
Concept
Within
the
physical
limits,
the
system
helps
to
keep
the
vehicle
on

steady
course
by
reducing
engine
speed
and
by
braking
the
individual
wheels.

responsible
adapting

intervention

lock

moves
at
the
speed

by
the
driver,
without

The
Integral
Active
Steering

combination

steering
ratio

rear
axle
steering.
The
variable
steering
ratio
amplifies
the
steering angle
when
maneuvering,
thus
making
the
steerj
ing
more
direct.
The
rear
axle
steering
acts
to
inj
crease
maneuverability
at
low
speeds
by
turning
the
rear
wheels
slightly
in
the
opposite
direction
to
the
front
wheels.
At
higher
speeds,
the
rear
wheels
are
turned
in
the
same
direction
as
the
front
wheels.
This
rej sults
in,
for
instance
better
directional
stabilityand
a
more
harmonious
change
of
direction.
In
critical
driving
situations,
the
Integral
Active Steering
can
stabilize
the
vehicle
through

steering
of
the
rear
wheels
before
