■Tire information
●Increase the tire inflation pressure to 20.0 kPa (0.2 kgf/cm2 or bar, 3 psi) greater than the recommended value when towing. ( P. 555)
●Increase the air pressure of the trailer tires in accordance with the total trailer weight
and according to the values recommended by the manufacturer of your trailer.
■Trailer lights
●Please consult any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer when installing trailer lights, as incorrect installation may cause damage to the vehicle’s lights. Please take care to comply with your state’s laws when installingtrailer lights.
●Check that the turn signal lights and stoplights are operating correctly every time youhitch up the trailer. Directly wiring up to your vehicle may damage the electrical systemand stop the lights from functioning correctly.
■Break-in schedule
Lexus recommends that vehicles fitted with new power train components should not be used for towing trailers for the first 800 km (500 miles).
■Safety checks before towing
●Check that the maximum load limit for the towing hitch/bracket and hitch ball is not exceeded. Bear in mind that the coupling weight of the trailer will add to the load
exerted on the vehicle. Also make sure that the total load exerted on the vehicle is within the range of the weight limits. ( P. 211)
●Ensure that the trailer load is secure.
●Supplementary outside rear view mirrors should be added to the vehicle if the traffic behind cannot be clearly seen with standard mirrors. Adjust the extending arms ofthese mirrors on both sides of the vehicle so that they always provide maximum visibility
of the road behind.
■Maintenance
●Maintenance must be performed more frequently when using the vehicle for towing
due to the greater weight burden placed on the vehicle compared to normal driving.
●Retighten all bolts securing the hitching ball and bracket after towing for approximately 1000 km (600 miles).
NOTICE
■When the rear bumper strengthening material is aluminum
Ensure the steel bracket part does not come directly in contact with that area. When steel and aluminum come into contact, there is a reaction similar to corrosion, which will weaken the section concerned and may result in damage. Apply a rust inhib-
itor to parts that will come in co ntact when attaching a steel bracket.

●In case of an emergency, make lives the top priority.
●If you smell anything burning or another unus ual smell, do not stay inside the vehicle and evacuate to a safe area immediately.
●Since the system detects shocks, the automatic reporting may not always occur syn-chronized with the operation of the airbag system. (If the vehicle is bumped frombehind, etc.)
●The airbag may not inflate even in case of an accident, if it does not involve highimpact. In such cases, the system may not make emergency calls automatically. Thesystem may also not make automatic emergency calls even if the airbag has been
inflated. If any of these should occur, plea se report to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) by operating the “SOS” button.
●For safety, do not make the Emergency Call while driving.
Making calls during driving may cause mish andling of the steering wheel, which may lead to unexpected accidents.Stop the vehicle and confirm the safety of the area before making the Emergency
Call.
●When changing fuses, please use fuses that correspond to the described standard. If you use fuses other than those described, it may cause ignition or smoke in the cir-
cuit and may lead to a fire.
●Using the system while there is smoke or an unusual smell may cause a fire. Stop using the system immediately and consult any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
NOTICE
■To prevent damage
Do not pour any liquid on to the “SOS” button panel etc. and make any impact to it.
■If the “SOS” button panel malfunctions
It may not be able to make the Emergency Call or inform you of the correct condition
of the system. If the “SOS” button panel has been broken, please consult any autho- rized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
■If there is any malfunction of the speaker or the microphone during the Emergency
Call or the Manual Maintenance Check

Cleaning and protecting the vehicle exterior
●Working from top to bottom, liberally apply water to the vehicle body, wheel
wells and underside of the vehicle to remove any dirt and dust.
●Wash the vehicle body using a sponge or soft cloth, such as a chamois.
●For hard-to-remove marks, use car wash soap and rinse thoroughly with
water.
●Wipe away any water.
●Wax the vehicle when the waterproof coating deteriorates.
If water does not bead on a clean surface, apply wax when the vehicle body is cool.
■Self-restoring coat
The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating that is resistant to small surface scratches caused in a car wash etc.
●The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when the vehicle is delivered from the plant.
●The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside tem-perature. The restoration time may become shorter when the coating is warmed by applying warm water.
●Deep scratches caused by keys, coins, etc. cannot be restored.
●Do not use wax that contain abrasives.
■Automatic car washes
●Fold the mirrors before washing the vehicle. Start washing from the front of the vehicle.Make sure to extend th e mirrors before driving.
●Brushes used in automatic car washes may scratch the vehicle surface and harm your
vehicle’s paint.
●Rear spoiler (if equipped) may not be wash able in some automatic car washes. There may also be an increased risk of damage to vehicle.
Perform the following to protect the vehicle and maintain it in prime condi-
tion:

■High-pressure car washes
●Do not allow the nozzles of the car wash to come within close proximity of the windows.
●Before using the car wash, check that the fuel filler door on your vehicle is closed prop-
erly.
■Notes for a smart entry & start system (vehicles with entry function)
If the door handle becomes wet while the electronic key is within the effective range, the
door may lock and unlock repeatedly. In that case, follow the following correction proce- dures to wash the vehicle:
●Place the key in a position 2 m (6 ft.) or more separate from the vehicle while the vehi-
cle is being washed. (Take care to ensure that the key is not stolen.)
●Set the electronic key to battery-saving mode to disable the smart entry & start system. ( P. 155)
■Aluminum wheels
●Remove any dirt immediately by using a neutral detergent. Do not use hard brushes or abrasive cleaners. Do not use strong or harsh chemical cleaners.
Use the same mild detergent and wax as used on the paint.
●Do not use detergent on the wheels when they are hot, for example after driving for long distance in the hot weather.
●Wash detergent from the wheels immediately after use.
■Brake caliper coating (vehicles with orange brake calipers for F SPORT models)
●When using detergent, use neutral detergent.
Do not use hard brushes or abrasive clea ners, as they will damage the coating.
●Do not use detergent on the brake calipers when they are hot.
●Wash detergent off immediately after use.
■Bumpers
Do not scrub with abrasive cleaners.
■Front side windows water-repellent coating
●The following precautions can extend the effectiveness of the water-repellent coating.
• Remove any dirt, etc. from the front side windows regularly.
• Do not allow dirt and dust to accumulate on the windows for a long period. Clean the windows with a soft, damp cloth as soon as possible.• Do not use wax or glass cleaners that co ntain abrasives when cleaning the windows.
• Do not use any metallic objects to remove condensation build up.
●When the water-repellent performance has become insufficient, the coating can be
repaired. Contact any authorized Lexus reta iler or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
