Adaptive
Headlights
General The
beams
from
the
headlights
follow
the
roadahead
in
response
to
the
steering
angle
and
other
parameters.
So
as
not
to
dazzle
oncoming
vehicles,
the Adaptive
Headlights
do
not
swivel
to
the
oppoj
site
side
of
the
road
when
stationary.
If
the
headlights
are
converted,

the
Adaptive
Headlights
may
only
function
to
a
limited
extent.
Anticipatory
headlights
for
bends
The
beams
are
adapted
to
the
direction
of
the
road
ahead
even
before
entering
or
leaving
a bend.
Headlights
for
S-bends The
beams
are
kept
as
straight
as
possible
when
driving
around
S-bends.
Headlights
for
hairpin
bends
The
cornering
light
is
also
switched
on
before
entering
hairpin
bends.
Variable
light
distribution
Principle Variable

distribution
enables

headlight

Adaptive
headlight
beam
throw
adjustment
comjpensates
for
acceleration
and
braking
manoeuj
vres
to
prevent
oncoming
vehicles
from
being
dazzled
and
to
ensure
optimum
illumination
of
the
road.
High-beam
assistance
Principle
High-beam
assistance
detects
other
road
users in
good
time
and
activates
or
deactivates
the
high
beam
depending
on
the
traffic
situation.
General
High-beam
assistance
ensures
that
the
high- beam
headlights
are
switched
on
when
the
trafficsituation
allows.
The
high-beam
headlights
are
not
switched
on
by
the
system
in
the
low
speed range.
The
system
responds
to
the
lights
from
oncomj
ing
traffic
and
traffic
driving
ahead
of
you,
and
to
ambient
lighting,
for
example
in
built-up
areas.
The
high-beam
headlights
can
be
switched
on
and
off
manually
at
any
time.
If
the
vehicle
is
equipped
with
dazzle-free
high-
beam
assistance,
the
high-beam
headlights
are not
switched
off
for
oncoming
vehicles
or
vehijcles
driving
ahead
of
you;
instead,
the
areas
of
the
beam
that
would
otherwise
dazzle
the
onj
coming
traffic
or
traffic
driving
ahead
are
masked off.

this
case,
the
blue
indicator
lamp
continj
ues
to
illuminate.

is

traffic

view

oncoming
vehicles

motorway is

windscreen

headlights
Principle
The
beam

the
high-beam
headlights
is
increased
for
even
better
illumination
of
the
road
surface.
General
When
high-beam
headlights
are
switched
on,
laj
ser
high-beam
headlight
is
switched
on
automatj ically
in
addition
to
LED
high-beam
headlightfrom
a
speed
of
approximately
60
km/h,
37
mph.
Depending
on
the
country
variant,
additional
inj
formation
can
be
found
on
the
laser
information
notice
on
the
headlights.
Fog
lights
Rear
fog
light
Operating
requirements Before
the
rear
fog
light
is
switched
on,
the
low-
beam
headlights
must
be
switched
on.
