The approximate range that can be covered
depends on the fuel level and your current driv-
ing style. If there is only a small amount of fuel
left in the fuel tank, a vehicle being refueled

digital speedometer.

On multilane roads, new lane recommendations can be displayed for the next change of direction
if the digital map supports this data. During the
change of direction, new lanes may be added.

to complete the next change of direction if you
stay in this lane.
Recommended lane and new lane during a
change of direction ?: in this lane you will be
able to complete the next two changes of direc-
tion without changing lane.

Other status indicators of the naviga-
tion system
The navigation system displays additional infor-mation and the vehicle status.
Possible displays:
RNew Route...or Calculating Route...
A new route is calculated.
RRoad Not Mapped
The vehicle position is inside the area of the
digital map, but the road is not recognized,
e.g. new roads, parkings lots or private land.
RNo Route
No route could be calculated to the selected
destination.
RO
You have reached the destination or an inter-
mediate destination.
Audio menu
Selecting a radio station
:Active station list
;Station frequency with memory position
The multifunction display shows station ;with
station frequency or station name. The preset
position is only displayed along with station ;if
this has been stored.
XSwitch on the multimedia system and select
Radio.
XPress the =or; button on the steering
wheel to select the Audiomenu.
XTo select a preset list or station list: press
and briefly hold the 9or: button until the preset list or station list is shown in the
desired frequency range.

SIRIUS XM satellite radio functions like a normal
radio.

Operating audio devices or media
Audio data from various audio devices or media
can be played, depending on the equipment
installed in the vehicle.
XSwitch on the multimedia system and select
audio CD or MP3 mode.
XPress the =or; button on the steering
wheel to select the Audiomenu.
XTo select the next/previous track: briefly
press the 9or: button.
XTo select a track from the track list (rapid
scrolling): press and hold the 9or:
button until desired track :appears.
If you press and hold the 9or: button,
the rapid scrolling speed is increased. Not all
audio drives or data carriers support this func-
tion.
If track information is stored on the audio
device or medium, the multifunction display
will show the number and title of the track.

Video DVD operation
XSwitch on the multimedia system and select
video DVD.

TV operation
The preset position is only displayed along with
channel :if this has been stored. You can store
TV channels in the multimedia system.

XTo select a stored channel: briefly press the
9 or: button.
XTo select a channel from the channel list:
press and briefly hold the 9or: but-
ton.
Telephone menu
Introduction
GWARNING
If you operate information systems and com-
munication equipment integrated in the vehi-
cle when driving, you may be distracted from
the traffic situation. You could also lose con-
trol of the vehicle. There is a risk of an acci-
dent.
Only operate this equipment when the traffic
situation permits. If you are not sure that this is possible, park the vehicle paying attention
to traffic conditions and operate the equip-
ment when the vehicle is stationary.
When telephoning, you must observe the legal
requirements for the country in which you are
currently driving.

XEstablish a Bluetooth®connection to the mul-
timedia system (see the Digital Operator's

You will see one of the following display mes-
sages in the multifunction display:
RPhone READYor the name of the network
provider: the mobile phone has found a net-
work and is ready to receive.
RPhone No Service: there is no network
available or the mobile phone is searching for
a network.
Accepting a call
If someone calls you when you are in the Telmenu, a display message appears in the multi-
function display.
You can accept a call at any time regardless of
the menu selected.
XPress the6button on the steering wheel
to accept an incoming call.
Rejecting or ending a call
XPress the ~button on the steering wheel.
You can end or reject a call even if you are not in
the Tel
menu.

Selecting the distance unit
The Display Unit Speed-/Odometer:func-
tion allows you to choose whether certain dis-
plays appear in kilometers or miles in the mul-
tifunction display.
You can determine whether the multifunction
display shows certain messages in miles or kilo-
meters.
XPress the =or; button on the steering
wheel to select the Sett.menu.
XPress the:or9 button to select the
Instrument Clustersubmenu.
XPress ato confirm.
XPress the :or9 button to select the
Display Unit Speed-/Odometerfunction.

display permanently shows your speed or the
outside temperature.

Setting the daytime running lamps
iThis function is not available in Canada.

Daytime Running Lightsfunction.
If the DaytimeRunningLightsfunction has
been switched on, the cone of light and the
W symbol are shown in red in the multi-

Surround lighting and exterior lighting
delayed switch-off
XPress the =or; button on the steering
wheel to select the Sett.menu.
XPress the:or9 button to select the
Lightsubmenu.
XPress ato confirm.

Surround Lightingfunction.
When the Surround Lightingfunction has
been activated, the cone of light is shown in
red in the multifunction display.
XPress the abutton to save the setting. To deactivate exterior lighting delayed switch-
off temporarily:
XBefore leaving the vehicle, turn the SmartKey
to position
gin the ignition lock
(
Ypage 105).
XTurn the SmartKey to position 2in the igni-
tion lock (Ypage 105).
Exterior lighting delayed switch-off is deacti-
vated.
Exterior lighting delayed switch-off is reactiva-
ted the next time you start the engine.
If you have activated the Surround Lighting
function and the light switch is set to Ã, the
following functions are switched on when it is
dark:
Rsurround lighting: the exterior lighting
remains lit for 40 seconds after unlocking
with the SmartKey. If you start the engine, the
surround lighting is switched off and auto-
matic headlamp mode is activated
(
Ypage 87).
Rexterior lighting delayed switch-off: the
exterior lighting remains lit for 60 seconds
after the engine is switched off. If you close all
the doors and the trunk lid, the exterior light-
ing goes off after five seconds.
iDepending on your vehicle's equipment,
when the surround lighting and exterior light-
ing delayed switch-off are on, the following
light up:
RParking lamps
RLow-beam headlamps
RDaytime running lamps
RSide marker lamps
RSurround lighting in the exterior mirrors
Switching the interior lighting delayed
switch-off on/off
If you activate the Interior Lighting Delayfunction, the interior lighting remains on for
20 seconds after you remove the SmartKey from
the ignition lock.

Activating/deactivating the automatic
door locking mechanism
If you activate the AutomaticDoorLockfunc-
tion, the vehicle is centrally locked above a
speed of approximately 9 mph (15 km/h).
XPress the =or; button on the steering
wheel to select the Sett.menu.
XPress the:or9 button to select the
Vehiclesubmenu.
XPress ato confirm.
XPress the :or9 button to select the
Automatic Door Lockfunction.
When the Automatic Door Lockfunction is
activated, the vehicle doors are displayed in
red in the multifunction display.

Activating/deactivating the acoustic
locking verification signal
If you switch on the AcousticLockfunction, an
acoustic signal sounds when you lock the vehi-
cle.
XPress the =or; button on the steering
wheel to select the Sett.menu.
XPress the:or9 button to select the
Vehiclesubmenu.
XPress ato confirm.
XPress the :or9 button to select the
Acoustic Lockfunction.
If the Acoustic Lockfunction is activated,
the & symbol in the multifunction display
lights up red.

Comfort
Activating/deactivating the EASY-
ENTRY/EXIT feature
GWARNING
When the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature adjusts
the steering wheel, you and other vehicle
occupants – particularly children – could
become trapped. There is a risk of injury.
While the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature is mak-
ing adjustments, make sure that no one has
any body parts in the sweep of the steering
wheel.
If somebody becomes trapped:
Rpress one of the memory function position
buttons, or
Rmove the switch for steering wheel adjust-
ment in the opposite direction to that in
which the steering wheel is moving.
The adjustment process is stopped.
XPress the =or; button on the steering
wheel to select the Sett.menu.
XPress the:or9 button to select the
Conveniencesubmenu.
XPress ato confirm.
XPress the :or9 button to select the
Easy Entry/Exitfunction.
If the EasyEntry/Exitfunction is activated,
the vehicle steering wheel appears in red in
the multifunction display.

Switching the fold-in mirrors when lock-
ing feature on/off
When you activate the Auto.MirrorFoldingfunction, the exterior mirrors are folded in when
the vehicle is locked. If you unlock the vehicle
and then open a door, the exterior mirrors fold
out again.
