Second Stage: Checking Tire Pressure
If you have injected sealant in the tire andthe pressure is below 20 psi (1.4 bar),continue to the next step.
Note:If the tire does not inflate to therecommended tire pressure within 15minutes, stop and call roadside assistance.
WARNING
The air compressor power plug maybe hot after use. Allow it to cool beforehandling. Failure to do so could result inpersonal injury.
Check the air pressure of your tires asfollows:
1.Remove the valve cap from the tire valve.
2. Firmly screw the air compressor hoseonto the valve stem by turning clockwise.
3. Push and turn the dial clockwise to theair position.
4. If required, turn on the compressor andadjust the tire to the recommendedinflation pressure shown on the tire labellocated on the driver's door or door jambarea. The tire pressure should bechecked with the compressor turned OFFin order to get an accurate pressurereading.
5. Remove the hoses, re-install the valvecap on the tire and return the kit to thestowage area.
What to do after the Tire has beenSealed
WARNING
If you experience any unusualvibration, ride disturbance or noisewhile driving, reduce your speed until youcan safely pull off to the side of the road andcall for roadside assistance. Failure to do socould cause you to lose control of yourvehicle and increase the risk of personalinjury or death.
After using the kit to seal your tire, you willneed to replace the sealant canister. Sealantcanisters and spare parts can be obtainedat an authorized Lincoln dealer. Emptysealant canisters may be disposed of athome. However, canisters still containingliquid sealant should be disposed of by yourlocal authorized Lincoln dealer or tire dealer,or in accordance with local waste disposalregulation.

3. Snap the back cover back into place.
4.Wrap the dual purpose hose (black tube)around the channel on the bottom of thehousing/casing.
5.Wrap the power cord around the housingand stow the accessory power plug intoits storage area.
Note:If you experience any difficulties withthe removal or installation of the sealantcanister, consult your authorized Lincolndealer for assistance.
Check and record the sealant compound’suse-by date and make sure that it is replacedwith a fresh canister after this date. Theuse-by date is on a label located on thesealant canister and can be seen throughthe rectangular viewing window on thebottom of the kit. Replace the sealantcanister if not used after four years.
TIRE CARE
Important information for 245/40R19low-profile tires and wheels If yourvehicle is equipped with 245/40R19tires, they are low-profile tires. Thesetires and wheels are designed to giveyour vehicle a sport appearance. Withlow-profile tires, you may notice anincrease in road noise and faster tirewear, depending on road conditions anddriving styles. Due to their design,low-profile tires and wheels are moreprone to road damage from potholes,rough or unpaved roads, car wash railsand curb contact than standard tires andwheels.
Note:Your vehicle’s warranty does notcover these types of damage. Tires
should always be kept at the correctinflation pressures and extra cautionshould be taken when operating onrough roads to avoid impacts that couldcause wheel and tire damage.

Highway Hazards
No matter how carefully you drive thereis always the possibility that you mayeventually have a flat tire on thehighway. Drive slowly to the closest safearea out of traffic. This may furtherdamage the flat tire, but your safety ismore important.
If you feel a sudden vibration or ridedisturbance while driving, or you suspectyour tire or vehicle has been damaged,immediately reduce your speed. Drivewith caution until you can safely pull offthe road. Stop and inspect the tires fordamage. If a tire is under-inflated ordamaged, deflate it, remove the wheeland replace it with your spare tire andwheel (if provided). If you cannot detecta cause, have the vehicle towed to the
nearest repair facility or tire dealer tohave the vehicle inspected.
Tire and Wheel Alignment
A bad jolt from hitting a curb or potholecan cause the front end of your vehicleto become misaligned or cause damageto your tires. If your vehicle seems topull to one side when you’re driving, thewheels may be out of alignment. Havean authorized dealer check the wheelalignment periodically.
Wheel misalignment in the front or therear can cause uneven and rapidtreadwear of your tires and should becorrected by an authorized dealer.Front-wheel drive vehicles and thosewith an independent rear suspension (ifequipped) may require alignment of allfour wheels.
The tires should also be balanced
periodically. An unbalanced tire andwheel assembly may result in irregulartire wear.
Tire Rotation
Note:If your tires show uneven wearask an authorized dealer to check forand correct any wheel misalignment,tire imbalance or mechanical probleminvolved before tire rotation.
Note:Your vehicle may be equippedwith a dissimilar spare wheel and tireassembly. A dissimilar spare wheel andtire assembly is defined as a sparewheel and tire assembly that is differentin brand, size or appearance from theroad tires and wheels. If you have adissimilar spare wheel and tire assemblyit is intended for temporary use only andshould not be used in a tire rotation.
Note:After having your tires rotated,inflation pressure must be checked and
adjusted to the vehicle requirements.
Rotating your tires at the recommendedinterval (as indicated in the ScheduledMaintenance chapter) will help your tireswear more evenly, providing better tireperformance and longer tire life.

Dissimilar Spare Wheel and TireAssembly Information
WARNING
Failure to follow these guidelines couldresult in an increased risk of loss ofvehicle control, injury or death.
If you have a dissimilar spare wheel and tire,then it is intended for temporary use only.This means that if you need to use it, youshould replace it as soon as possible with aroad wheel and tire assembly that is thesame size and type as the road tires andwheels that were originally provided by Ford.If the dissimilar spare tire or wheel isdamaged, it should be replaced rather thanrepaired.
Important Use of Spare Wheel
A dissimilar spare wheel and tire assemblyis defined as a spare wheel and tire assemblythat is different in brand, size or appearancefrom the road tires and wheels and can beone of three types:
1. T-type mini-spare.*
2. Full-size dissimilar spare with label onwheel.**
3.Full-size dissimilar spare without label onwheel.*This spare tire begins with the letter T for
tire size and may have Temporary Use Onlymolded in the sidewall.** This spare tire has a label on the wheel that
states: THIS WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLYFOR TEMPORARY USE ONLY.
Driving with a T-type Mini-spare or Full-sizeDissimilar Spare With Label on Wheel
Do not:
•Exceed 50 mph (80 km/h).
•Load the vehicle beyond maximumvehicle load rating listed on the SafetyCompliance Label.
•Tow a trailer.
•Use snow chains on the end of thevehicle with the dissimilar spare tire.
•Use more than one dissimilar spare tireat a time.
•Use commercial car washing equipment.
•Try to repair the dissimilar spare tire.
Use of the above dissimilar spare wheel atany one wheel location can lead toimpairment of the following:
•Handling, stability and brakingperformance.
•Comfort and noise.
•Ground clearance and parking at curbs.
•Winter weather driving capability.

Give additional caution to the following whendriving with the full-size dissimilar sparewheel and tire assembly:
•Towing a trailer.
•Driving vehicles equipped with a camperbody.
•Driving vehicles with a load on the cargorack.
Drive cautiously when using a full-sizedissimilar spare wheel and tire assembly andseek service as soon as possible.
Changing a Road Wheel Procedure
WARNINGS
When one of the front wheels is off theground, the transmission alone will notprevent the vehicle from moving or slippingoff the jack, even if the transmission is in park(P).
To help prevent your vehicle frommoving when changing a wheel, shiftthe transmission into park (P), set the parkingbrake and use an appropriate block or wheelchock to secure the wheel diagonallyopposite to the wheel being changed. Forexample, when changing the front left wheel,place an appropriate block or wheel chockon the right rear wheel.
Do not work on your vehicle when thejack is the only support. If the vehicleslips off the jack, you or someone else couldbe seriously injured.
WARNINGS
Do not attempt to change a tire on theside of the vehicle close to movingtraffic. Pull far enough off the road to avoidthe danger of being hit when operating thejack or changing the wheel.
Always use the jack provided asoriginal equipment with your vehicle.If using a jack other than the one provided,make sure the jack capacity is adequate forthe vehicle weight, including any vehiclecargo or modifications. If you are unsure ifthe jack capacity is adequate, contact theauthorized dealer.
Note:Passengers should not remain in yourvehicle when the vehicle is being jacked.
1. Park on a level surface, set the parkingbrake and activate the hazard flashers.
2. Place the transmission in park (P) andturn the engine off. For vehicles with amanual transmission, place thetransmission in reverse (R) after theengine is turned off.

Stowing the Flat Tire Without theRetainer Strap
You can temporarily stow the full-size roadwheel in the spare tire compartment.
1.Lift the carpeted wheel cover at an angleto access the spare tire compartment.
2.Place the wheel in the spare tire well withthe valve stem facing down.
3.Install the shorter jack retainer bolt to thejack bolt-down bracket through thecentre of the wheel. Finally, wind thewheel retainer down to secure the wheelin place.
4. Place the jack and tools back into thespare tire compartment.
5. Replace the carpeted wheel cover.
Stowing the Flat Tire Using theRetainer Strap (If Equipped)
You can temporarily stow the full-size roadwheel in the spare tire compartment.
1. Find the flat tire retainer strap tuckedinside the jack channel.
2.Locate the jack bolt-down bracket. Pushthe retainer strap through the jackbolt-down bracket.
3.Put the jack and lug wrench away. Makesure the jack is fastened so it does notrattle when you drive.
4.Stow the flat tire on the floor in the cargoarea.
5. Weave the retainer strap through thewheel openings.
