FUEL CUT-OFF
SYSTEM 8)
This intervenes in the case of an
impact causing:
❒ the fuel supply cut-off with the
engine consequently switching off
❒ automatically unlocking the doors
❒ switching on of all interior lights.
The intervention of the system is
indicated by a message shown on the
display.
IMPORTANT Carefully check the car
for fuel leaks, for instance in the engine
compartment, under the car or near
the tank area.
After a collision, turn the ignition key to
the STOP position to avoid draining the
battery.
To reset car operation, follow this
procedure:
❒ turn the ignition key to MAR
❒ activate the right direction indicator
❒ deactivate the right direction
indicator
❒ activate the left direction indicator
❒ deactivate the left direction indicator
❒ activate the right direction indicator
❒ deactivate the right direction
indicator
❒ activate the left direction indicator
❒ deactivate the left direction indicator
❒ ignition key turned to the OFF
position
❒ turn the ignition key to MAR.PARKING SENSORS
18) 25
(for versions/markets, where provided)
Located in the rear bumper fig. 51
these detect and inform the driver,
through an intermittent acoustic signal,
of the presence of obstacles at the rear
of the car.
As the distance from the obstacle
behind the car decreases, the acoustic
alarm becomes more frequent. The
buzzer becomes continuous when the
distance separating the vehicle from
the obstacle is less than about 30 cm.
It remains constant if the distance
between the vehicle and the obstacle
is unchanged.
If this situation concerns the side
sensors, the signal will stop after
approximately 3 seconds to avoid, for
example, indications in the event of
manoeuvres along a wall.
If several obstacles are detected by the
sensors, only the nearest one is
considered.
KNOWING YOUR CAR
52
Versions with colour display
When the sensors are activated, the
screen in fig. 52 appears on the
display.
Obstacle presence and distance
information is therefore provided both
by the acoustic signal and the
instrument panel display.
51DVDF0S0182c
52DVDF0S0459c
The system indicates a detected
obstacle by displaying an arc
according to the distance of the
obstacle and its position in relation to
the car.
If an object is detected in the rear left,
central or right zone, the display shows
a flashing arc in the corresponding
zone and a sound is emitted.
As the car approaches the object, the
display shows one or more flashing
arcs that approach the car, and the
sound becomes more frequent until it
becomes continuous.
The colour on the display depends on
the distance from and position of the
obstacle.
The car is close to the obstacle when a
blinking red arch appears on the
display (to the right, in the centre or to
the left) and a continuous sound is
emitted. If there are several obstacles,
the closest one is indicated.Fault indications
Any parking sensor faults will be
indicated when reverse is engaged by
the warning light
è(or the icon ton
the colour display) in the instrument
panel and by the relevant message in
the display (for versions/markets,
where provided).
Operation with a trailer
Sensor operation is automatically
deactivated when the trailer’s electrical
cable plug is inserted.

PERSONAL SAFETY
(CONTINUED)
•The HH system is not a parking brake, therefore do not leave
the vehicle without activating the handbrake, switching off the
engine, and engaging first gear, with the vehicle parked in safe
conditions.
•There may be situations on small gradients
(less than 8%), with car laden or a trailer attached to it (where
provided), in which the HH system may not activate, causing a
slight reversing motion and increasing the risk of collision with
another vehicle or object.
The driver is, in any case, responsible for safe driving.
•The HBA system cannot increase tyre grip on the road over
the limits imposed by laws of physics: always drive carefully
according to the conditions of the road surface.
•The HBA system is an aid for the driver, who must always pay
full attention while driving.
The responsibility always rests with the driver.
16) ENGINE BONNET
•Before opening the bonnet, check that windscreen wiper
arm is not lifted from the windscreen.
•The bonnet may drop suddenly if the supporting rod is not
positioned correctly.
Only perform these operations when the car is stationary.
•Be careful working inside engine compartment when the
engine is hot to avoid burning yourself. Do not place your
hands near the engine fan as it may be activated even when
the key is removed. Wait until the engine has cooled.
•Be very careful not to allow scarves, neck ties and other
loose articles of clothing from touching, even accidentally, any
moving parts. This may cause the clothing to be pulled into the
part, resulting in serious injury to the wearer. •For safety reasons, the bonnet must always be properly closed
while the car is travelling. Make sure that the bonnet is properly
closed and that the lock is engaged. If you notice when driving
that the bonnet has not been properly locked, stop immediately
and close the bonnet correctly.
•Use both hands to lift the bonnet. Before lifting, check that the
windscreen wiper arms are not raised from the windscreen, that
the vehicle is stationary and that the handbrake is engaged.
17) CONTROLS
•It is absolutely forbidden to carry out any after-market operation
involving steering system or steering column modifications
(e.g. installation of anti-theft device) that could adversely affect
performance and safety, invalidate the warranty and also result in
non-compliance of the vehicle with type-approval requirements.
•Before performing any maintenance operations, always stop
the engine and remove the key from the ignition to lock the
steering column (especially when the car wheels are not touching
the ground). If this is not possible (for example if the key needs to
be turned to MAR or the engine must be running), remove the
main fuse that protects the electric power steering.
18) PARKING SENSORS
Parking manoeuvres, however, are always the driver’s
responsibility. While carrying out these manoeuvres, always make
sure that no people (especially children) or animals are in the area
concerned.
The parking sensors are used to assist the driver, who must
never allow his attention to lapse during potentially dangerous
manoeuvres, even those executed at low speeds.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
206(CONTINUES)
25) PARKING SENSORS
• The sensor must be free of mud, dirt, snow or ice in order for
the system to work. Be careful not to scratch or damage the
sensors while cleaning them. Avoid using dry, rough or hard
cloths. The sensors must be washed using clean water, with
the addition of vehicle shampoo if necessary.
When using special washing equipment such as high pressure
jets or steam cleaning, clean the sensors very quickly keeping
the jet more than 10 cm away.
• Have interventions on the bumper in the area of the sensors
carried out only by a Fiat Dealership. Interventions on the
bumper that are not carried out properly may compromise the
operation of the parking sensors.
26) DECAYED ENGINE OIL
To prevent damage to the engine, it is advisable to replace the
engine oil when the red
vwarning light switches on, or
when the yellow vwarning light comes on solid (for versions/markets, where
provided). Contact a Fiat Dealership.
27) BODYWORK
• Avoid washing with rollers and/or brushes in washing stations.
Then, wash the vehicle, only by hand, using pH-neutral
detergents; dry it with a wet chamois leather. Abrasive products
and/or polishes should not be used for cleaning the vehicle.
• Bird droppings must be washed off immediately and
thoroughly as the acid they contain is particularly aggressive. • Avoid (if at all possible) parking the vehicle under trees; remove
vegetable resins immediately as, when dried, it may only be
possible to remove them with abrasive products and/or polishes,
which is highly inadvisable as they could alter the typical
opaqueness of the paint.
• It is not advisable to wash with pressure washer or, in case of
use, it is necessary to maintain at least a minimum distance of 40
cm with water at room temperature.
28) WINDOWS
Do not use pure windscreen washer fluid for cleaning the front
windscreen and rear window - dilute it at least 50% with water.
29 LPG
• The car is equipped with a gaseous LPG injection system
designed specifically for it: it is therefore absolutely forbidden to
alter the configuration of the system or its components. The use of
other components or materials could cause malfunctions and lead
to a reduction in safety; therefore, contact a Fiat Dealership in the
case of fault.
• The system operates at temperatures ranging between −20°C
and 100°C.
• To prevent damage to the LPG system parts when towing or
raising the vehicle, follow the instructions in the “Towing the
vehicle” paragraph of the Owner Handbook.
• When painting in an oven, the LPG tank must be removed from
the car and later refitted by a Fiat Dealership.
