a
slight
downhill
slope
If it is necessary to change a wheel on a slight
downhill slope, place chocks and other suitable
objects, for example stones, under the wheels
of the front and rear axles in the opposite dij
rection to the direction of roll.
Thiefproof
wheel
studs
Principle The wheel locking bolts have a special coding.
The blots can only be released with the
adapter that matches the coding.
Overview
The adapter of the thiefproof wheel studs can be found in the on-board tool kit or in an oddj
ments tray in the on-board tool kit.
'yWheel stud, arrow 1.'yAdapter, arrow 2.
Unscrewing
1.Place the adapter on the wheel stud.2.Unscrew the wheel stud.3.After unscrewing the wheel stud, remove
the adapter again.
Screwing
on
1.Place the adapter on the wheel stud. If
necessary, turn the adapter until it fits on the wheel stud.2.Screw on the wheel stud. The tightening
torque is 140 Nm.3.After screwing on the wheel stud, remove the adapter again and stow it.
Preparing
the
vehicle
'yPark the vehicle on firm and non-slip
ground at a safe distance from traffic.'ySwitch on the hazard warning lights.'yApply the parking brake.'yEngage a gear or select selector lever posij
tion P.'yAs soon as the traffic permits, have all vej hicle occupants get out of the vehicle and
guide them out of the danger area, for exj
ample behind the crash barrier.'yDepending on the equipment, take the tools and emergency wheel out of the vehij
cle.'yIf applicable, set up warning triangle or flashing light at the correct distance.'yDo not place wooden blocks or similar unjderneath the jack, otherwise it will notreach its carrying capacity due to the rej

Jack
mounting
points
The jacking points are located in the marked
positions.
Raising
vehicle WARNING
Your hands or fingers could get trapped
when using the jack. There is a danger of inj
jury. Keep your hands in the described position
when using the jack, and do not change this
position.'

5.Make sure that the base of the jack has
been extended vertically.6.Make sure that the base of the jack is exj
tended perpendicular to and at right angles
below the jacking point.7.Raise by cranking until the jack is supporj
ted on the ground with its entire surface and the wheel in question is at most 3 cm,1.2 inches off the ground.
Fitting
a
wheel
Only fit one emergency wheel at most, as rej
quired.
1.Unscrew the wheel studs.2.Remove the wheel.3.Put on the new wheel or emergency wheel and tighten at least two wheel studs crossj
wise until finger-tight.
If non-original light alloy wheels not from
the vehicle manufacturer are fitted, the
wheel studs belonging to the wheels may
also have to be used.4.Tighten the remaining wheel studs until finger-tight and then tighten all the wheelstuds crosswise.5.Turn the jack crank anticlockwise to retractthe jack and lower the vehicle.6.Remove the jack and stow it securely.
After
changing
the
wheel
1.Tighten the wheel studs crosswise. The
tightening torque is 140 Nm, approxij mately 101 lb ft.2.Stow the faulty wheel in the boot, if necesjsary.
Due to its size, the faulty wheel cannot be
accommodated under the boot floor.3.Check tyre inflation pressure at the next
opportunity and correct as necessary.4.Reinitialise the runflat indicator RPA.
Reset the Tyre Pressure Monitor TPM.5.Check the tight fit of the wheel studs using
a calibrated torque wrench.6.Drive to the nearest Service Partner of the
manufacturer or another qualified Service Partner or a specialist workshop to have

General
The engine oil consumption depends on the driving style and operating conditions.
Therefore check the engine oil level regularly
each time you fill up with fuel by taking a dej
tailed measurement.
Engine oil consumption can be increased, for
example, in the following situations:'yDynamic driving style.'yRunning in the engine.'yEngine idling.'yUse of engine oil grades categorised as
unsuitable.
Different Check Control messages are shown
on the Control Display, depending on the enj gine oil level.
Safety
notes NOTE
Too little engine oil causes engine damj
age. There is a danger of damage to property. Immediately replenish engine oil.'

engine
oil

The engine oil level is displayed.
System
limits
When frequently making short trips or using a
dynamic driving style, it may not be possible to
calculate a measurement. In this case, the
measurement for the last, sufficiently long
journey is displayed.
Detailed
measurement
Principle The engine oil level is checked when the vehijcle is stationary and is shown on a scale.
If the engine oil level is outside its permissible
operating range, a Check Control message is
shown.
General
During the measurement, the idle speed is
slightly raised.
Operating
requirements
'yVehicle is standing horizontally.'yManual gearbox: gear lever in neutral posijtion, clutch and accelerator pedal not
pressed.'yM double clutch transmission: selector lever in selector lever position N and accelj
erator pedal not pressed.'yEngine is running and is at operating temj

The engine oil level is checked and shown on a
scale.
Adding
engine
oil General Do not top up engine oil unless a message is
displayed in the instrument cluster. The top-up
amount is specified in the message on the inj strument cluster.
Only replenish with suitable types of engine oil,
see page 225.
Safely park the vehicle and switch off the ignij
tion before replenishing the engine oil.
Ensure not to top up with too much engine oil.
Spilled engine oil can damage carbon parts.
Wipe up spilled engine oil with a lint-free cloth.
Safety
notes WARNING
Service products, for example oils,
greases, coolants and fuels, can contain subj stances that are harmful to health. There is a
danger of injury or even death. Comply with
the notes on the containers. Do not allow servj ice products to come into contact with clothj
ing, skin or eyes. Do not pour service products into other bottles. Keep service products out ofthe reach of children.'
