with
braking
function
Display
If there is a risk of collision with a detected vej
hicle, a warning symbol is shown in the instruj
ment cluster and in the Head-Up Display.SymbolMeasureSymbol illuminates red: advance
warning.
Brake and increase the distance.Symbol flashes red and an acoustic signal sounds: acute warning.
Brake and perform an evasive maj
noeuvre, if necessary.
Advance
warning
An advance warning is shown, for example if a danger of collision is anticipated or there is avery short distance to a vehicle ahead.
The driver must intervene personally if there isan advance warning.
Acute
warning
with
braking
function
An acute warning is shown in the event of an
immediate collision if the vehicle approaches
an object with high differential speed.
The driver must intervene personally if there is
an advance warning. If necessary, the driver is
assisted by slight automatic brake intervention
if there is a risk of collision.
An acute warning can be triggered even withj
out a previous advance warning.
Brake
interventionThe warning prompts the driver to intervene
actively. Maximum braking force is used during a warning. In order for braking force support to
be used, it is necessary for the brake to be
pressed sufficiently quickly and powerfully. The system can also assist by applying the
brakes lightly if there is the risk of a collision.
The vehicle can be braked at low speed until it
comes to a stop.
Manual gearbox: when the vehicle is braked to
a stop, the engine may shut off.
The brakes are only applied if driving stability
has not been impaired, for example by deactij
vation of Dynamic Stability Control DSC.
Braking can be discontinued either by dej
pressing the accelerator pedal or by actively
moving the steering wheel.
The detection of objects can be restricted.
Take into account the detection range limits
and the functional restrictions.

warnings
The greater the sensitivity of the warning setj tings, for example warning time, the morewarnings will be displayed. As a result, there
may be an increased number of premature or
unjustified warnings and reactions.

function
Principle The system can help to avoid accidents with
pedestrians.
The system warns of the possible risk of collij sion with pedestrians in the urban speed range and provides assistance with a light braking
function.
The system is controlled by the camera in the area of the rear-view mirror.
General Provided that the light conditions are suffij
ciently bright, the system operates and issues
warnings from approximately 10 km/h, approxij mately 6 mph up to approximately 60 km/h, apjproximately 35 mph if there is a risk of collision
with pedestrians and provides assistance by
briefly applying the brakes before a collision.
Persons are taken into account if they are locaj ted within the detection range of the system.
Detection
range
The detection zone in front of the vehicle conj sists of two parts:
'yCentral zone, arrow 1, directly in front ofthe vehicle.'yExtended zone, arrow 2, to the right and
left of central area.
There is a risk of collision if persons are in the
central zone. A warning is only given of perj
sons in the extended zone if they are moving
towards the central zone.

Lane
Change
Warning
PrincipleThe Lane Change Warning detects vehicles in
the blind spot, or if vehicles are approaching
from behind in the adjacent lane. A warning is issued in various gradations in these situaj
tions.
General
Two radar sensors in the rear bumper monitor
the area behind and beside the vehicle as of
approximately 20 km/h, approximately 12 mph.
In some equipment configurations, the radar
sensors are active from approximately
50 km/h, approximately 30 mph.
The system indicates when vehicles are in the
blind spot, arrow 1, or are approaching from
the rear in an adjacent lane, arrow 2.
The light in the exterior mirror housing illumij nates at a dimmed level.
Before changing lanes with the turn indicator
switched on, the system issues a warning in
the above situations.
The light in the exterior mirror housing flashes
and the steering wheel vibrates.

speed
limiter PrincipleThe system enables speeds from a value of30 km/h/20 mph and above to be set as a
speed limit. Below the set speed limit, the vej hicle can be driven without restriction.
Exceeding
the
speed
limit In particular situations the speed limit can be
deliberately exceeded by accelerating strongly.
The system gives a warning if the travellingspeed exceeds the set speed limit.
No
brake
intervention
If the set speed limit has been reached or uninj
tentionally exceeded, for example when driving
downhill, there is no active brake intervention.
If you set a speed limit during the journey
which is below the current speed, the vehicle rolls until the driving speed drops below the
speed limit.

Operation
Switching
on Press the button on the steering
wheel.
The current speed is adopted as the speed limit.
When switching on when at a standstill or drivj ing at low speed, 30 km/h/20 mph is set as the
speed limit.
The status display is shown and, depending on
the instrument cluster, a marking in the speedj
ometer is set to the corresponding speed.
When activating the speed limit it is possible
that Dynamic Stability Control, DSC is activaj
ted.
Switching
off Press the button on the steering
wheel.
The system switches off automatically in the following situations, for example:
'yWhen engaging reverse gear.'yWhen switching the engine off.'yWhen switching on Cruise Control.
The displays turn off.
