Resetting a driver profile
The settings of the driver profile currently in use
are reset to their factory settings.

Exporting driver profiles
Most settings of the active driver profile can be exported.
Exporting is helpful when storing and retrieving personal settings, for instance before deliveringthe vehicle to a workshop. The stored driver projfiles can be taken into another vehicle.

A clear assignment between the remote control and driver may not be possible in the following
cases, for example.

General information
Depending on the vehicle equipment and counj try version, various settings for opening and closjing are possible.
These settings are stored for the driver profile,
refer to page 79, currently used.
Unlocking

After the engine is switched off by pressing the Start/Stop button, the locked vehicle is
automatically unlocked.
Alarm system
General information
When the vehicle is locked, the vehicle alarm
system reacts to the following changes:
'xUnauthorized opening of a door, the hood or

'xChanges in the vehicle tilt, for instance duringattempts at stealing a wheel.'xDisconnected battery voltage.'xImproper use of the socket for Onboard Diagjnosis.
The alarm system signals these changes visuallyand acoustically:
'xAcoustic alarm:
Depending on local regulations, the acoustic alarm may be suppressed.'xVisual alarm:
By flashing the exterior lighting.
Switching on/off
When you lock and unlock the vehicle with the
remote control or Comfort Access, the alarm system will also switch on or off at the sametime.
Opening the doors with the alarm
system switched on
The alarm system is triggered when a door is
opened if the door was unlocked using the integrated key in the door lock.
Switching off the alarm, refer to page 84.
Opening the tailgate with the alarm
system switched on
The tailgate can be opened even when the alarmsystem is switched on.
After the tailgate is closed, it is locked and monij tored again provided the doors are locked. Thehazard warning system flashes once.
Panic mode You can trigger the alarm system if you find yourj
self in a dangerous situation.
'xPress button on the remote control
and hold for at least 3 seconds.'xBriefly press the button on the remote control three times in succession.To switch off the alarm: press any button.
Indicator light on the interior mirror'xThe indicator light flashes briefly every 2 secj onds:
The alarm system is switched on.'xIndicator light flashes for approx. 10 seconds,
then it flashes briefly every 2 seconds:
Interior motion sensor and tilt alarm sensor
are not active, as doors, hood, or tailgate are not correctly closed. Correctly closed access
points are secured.
When the still open access points are closed,
interior motion sensor and tilt alarm sensor will be switched on.'xThe indicator light goes out after unlocking:
The vehicle has not been tampered with.'xThe indicator light flashes after unlocking unj til the radio-ready state is switched on, but no
longer than approx. 5 minutes:
An alarm has been triggered.
Tilt alarm sensor
The tilt of the vehicle is monitored.
The alarm system responds in situations such as
attempts to steal a wheel.
Interior motion sensor The windows and the glass sunroof must beclosed for the system to function properly.

Avoiding unintentional alarmsGeneral information
The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor can trigger an alarm, although no unauthorized
action occurred.
Possible situations for an unwanted alarm:'xIn automatic vehicle washes.'xIn duplex garages.'xDuring transport on trains carrying vehicles, at
sea or on a trailer.'xWith animals in the vehicle.'xAt the gas station: if the vehicle is locked after refueling starts.
The tilt alarm sensor and the interior motion senj
sor can be switched off in such situations.
Switching off the tilt alarm sensor and
interior motion sensor
Press the remote control button again
within 10 seconds as soon as the vehicle is
locked.
The indicator light lights up for approx. 2 secj onds and then continues to flash.
The tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor are switched off until the vehicle is locked again.
Switching off the alarm
'xUnlock the vehicle with the remote control or establish radio-ready state, if needed through
emergency detection of remote control, refer to page 73.'xWith Comfort Access:
If you are carrying the remote control on your
person, grasp the door handle on the driver's
or front passenger door completely.Power windows
Safety information
WARNING
When operating the windows, body parts and objects can be jammed. There is a risk of injury or risk of damage to property. Make sure thatthe area of movement of the windows is clear
during opening and closing.

General information
If closing force exceeds a specific threshold as a
window closes, closing is interrupted.
The window opens slightly.
Safety information
WARNING
Accessories on the windows such as antennas
can impact jam protection. There is a risk of inj
jury. Do not install accessories in the area of
movement of the windows.
Closing without the jam protection
system
In case of danger from the outside or if ice might
prevent normal closing, proceed as follows:
1. Pull the switch past the resistance point
and hold it there.
The window closes with limited jam protecj
tion. If the closing force exceeds a specific threshold, closing is interrupted.2. Pull the switch past the resistance point
again within approx. 4 seconds and hold it
there.
The window closes without jam protection.Glass sunroof, electric
General information
The glass sunroof is ready for operation when
standby state is switched on.
Safety information
WARNING
Body parts can be jammed when operating the glass sunroof. There is a risk of injury. Makesure that the area of movement of the glass
sunroof is clear during opening and closing.

Tilting the glass sunroof
Push switch briefly upward.

Comfort position
In some models, the wind noises in the car's inj terior are lowest when the glass sunroof is notfully open. In these models, the automatic funcj
tion initially only opens the glass sunroof up to
this comfort position.
Pressing the switch again opens the glass sunj
roof fully.
Jam protection system
General information
If the closing force exceeds a certain value when
closing the glass sunroof, the closing operation is interrupted once the roof reaches the half-openposition. The glass sunroof opens slightly.
Closing from the open position without
jam protection
If there is an external danger, proceed as follows:
1.Push the switch forward past the resistance point and hold.The glass sunroof closes with limited jam
protection. If the closing force exceeds a spej
cific threshold, closing is interrupted.2.Push the switch forward again past the resistj
ance point and hold until the glass sunroof closes without jam protection. Make sure that
the closing area is clear.
Closing from the raised position without
jam protection
If there is an external danger,push the switch forward past the
resistance point and hold it.
The glass sunroof closes without jam protection.
Initializing after a power interruption
General information
After a power failure during the opening or closj ing process, the glass sunroof can only be operjated to a limited extent.
The system can be initialized under the following
conditions.
'xThe vehicle is parked in a horizontal position.'xThe drive-ready state is established.'xThe external temperature is above

Initializing the systemPress the switch up and hold ituntil initialization is complete.
Initialization begins within 15 seconds.'xIf the glass sunroof is closed, it opens then closes again.'xIf the glass sunroof is open, it first closes,then opens and closes again.

Sitting safely
An ideal seating position that meets the needs of the occupants can make a vital contribution to
relaxed, fatigue-free driving.
In the event of an accident, the correct seating

Seats
Safety information
WARNING
Seat adjustments while driving can lead to unj
expected movements of the seat. Vehicle conj
trol could be lost. There is a risk of an accident.
Only adjust the seat on the driver's side when
the vehicle is stationary.
WARNING
With a backrest inclined too far to the rear, the
efficacy of safety gear, including safety belts can no longer be ensured. There is a risk of
sliding under the safety belt in an accident. There is a risk of injuries or danger to life. Adjjust the seat prior to starting the trip. Adjust thebackrest so that it is in the most upright posijtion as possible and do not adjust again whiledriving.
WARNING
There is a risk of jamming when moving the seats. There is a risk of injury or risk of damage
to property. Make sure that the area of movej
ment of the seat is clear prior to any adjustj
ment.
