Press the remote control switch, and all doors (including the backdoor) will be locked or
unlocked as desired. It is also possible to op- erate the outside rear-view mirrors.
1- LOCK switch
2- UNLOCK switch
To lock
Press the LOCK switch (1), and all doors (in- cluding the backdoor) will be locked. Whenthey are locked with the room lamp switch at the middle position (DOOR), the room lamp
and the turn-signal lamps blink once.
To unlock
Press the UNLOCK switch (2), and all doors
(including the backdoor) will be unlocked.
When they are unlocked with the room lamp switch at the middle position (DOOR), the room lamp will be turned on for approxi-
mately 15 seconds and the turn-signal lamps
will blink twice.
NOTEl If the UNLOCK switch (2) is pressed and no
door (including the backdoor) is opened within approximately 30 seconds: relockingwill automatically occur.
l It is possible to modify functions as follows:

• The time for automatic relocking can be
changed.
• The confirmation function (blinking of
the turn-signal lamps) can be set to oper-ate only when the doors and backdoor are locked or only when the doors and back-
door are unlocked.
• The confirmation function (this indicates
locking or unlocking of the doors and backdoor with the blink of the turn-signal
lamps) can be deactivated.
• The number of times the turn-signal
lamps are flashed by the confirmation function can be changed.Operation of the outside rear-
view mirrors
To fold
Within 30 seconds of locking the doors and backdoor using the LOCK switch (1), pressthe LOCK switch twice rapidly to fold the
outside rear-view mirrors.
To extend
Within 30 seconds of unlocking the doors
and backdoor using the UNLOCK switch (2), press the UNLOCK switch twice rapidly to
return the outside rear-view mirrors to their
extended positions.
NOTEl The keyless entry system does not operate in
the following conditions:
• The key is left in the key cylinder.
• The door (including the backdoor) is
open.
l The remote control switch will operate with-
in approximately 4 m from the vehicle.
However, the operating range of the remote control switch may change if the vehicle is
located near a power station, or radio/TV broadcasting station.

The security alarm system is designed to pre- vent unlawful entry into the vehicle. It will
alert people nearby if a door, the backdoor, or the bonnet is opened when the vehicle has
not been unlocked using the keyless entry system.
Also, the alarm will be activated if any of the
following occur.
l Attempt an unlawful moving of the vehi-
cle. (the vehicle inclination detection function)
l Detect a motion in the vehicle. (the inte-
rior intrusion detection function)
l Disconnect the battery terminal.
The security alarm system is set to “active” when the vehicle leaves the factory.
When making changes to the settings, please
follow the procedure listed in the section ti- tled “Changing the system settings” on page
3-12.CAUTIONl Do not modify or add parts to the security
alarm system.
Doing so could cause the security alarm to malfunction.NOTEl The alarm system will not be activated if the
doors (including the backdoor) have been
locked using a key or the central door lock switch (instead of the keyless entry system).
l If the turn-signal lamps do not blink after the
locking and unlocking operation using thekeyless entry system, the security alarm sys-
tem may be malfunctioning.
Have the vehicle inspected at a MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Serv-
ice Point.
l In the following situations, the security
alarm system could be more likely to be ac-
cidentally activated.
• Using a car wash
• Taking the vehicle on a ferry
• Parking in an automated car park
• Leaving someone or a pet in the vehicle
• Leaving a window, door, or the sunroof
open
• Leaving an unstable object such as a stuf-
fed toy or accessory in the vehicle
• Suffering a continuous impact or vibra-
tion by hail, thunder, etc.
l The sensitivity of the vehicle inclination de-
tection function and the interior intrusion de-
tection function can be adjusted. For details,
please contact a MITSUBISHI MOTORS
Authorized Service Point.The security alarm has four
modes:
System preparation mode (ap- prox. 20 seconds)
(The buzzer sounds intermittently, and the se-
curity alarm indicator (A) blinks)
The system preparation time extends from the point at which all of the doors (including the backdoor) are locked by the keyless entry
switch to the point at which the system acti- vation mode goes into effect.
During this time, it is possible to temporarily
open a door without using the keyless entry system and without causing the alarm to sound (for example, when you forget some-
thing inside the vehicle or realize that a win- dow is open).

(Since the ignition switch is in the
“LOCK” position, washer fluid will not be sprayed.)
4. After approximately 10 seconds, the
buzzer will make a sound. Keep the windscreen wiper and washer switch
pulled towards you.
(If the windscreen wiper and washer
switch was released, the setting change
mode would be cancelled. To start over, perform the procedure again from step
3.)
5. When the buzzer stops, with the wind-
screen wiper and washer switch stillpulled towards you, press the UNLOCKswitch (A) on the keyless entry switch toselect the security alarm settings mode.
The settings mode can be toggled by
pressing the UNLOCK switch. The mode can be confirmed from the numberof times the buzzer sounds.

6.Any of the following operations can be
used to terminate the system settings change mode. •Releasing the windscreen wiper and
washer switch.
• Closing the driver’s door.
• Inserting the key into the ignition
switch.
• Placing the lamp switch in any posi-
tion other than “OFF”.
• Allowing 30 seconds to pass with-
out making any changes to the set-
tings.NOTEl If anything with regard to making changes to
the security alarm system settings is hard to understand, please consult a MITSUBISHI
MOTORS Authorized Service Point.
l Avoid leaving valuable items inside the ve-
hicle even when the security alarm system has been set to the “active” mode.Setting the system

Once the security alarm system has been set
to the “active” mode, follow the procedure below to set the system to the system armed
mode. 1. Remove the key from the ignition
switch.
2. Exit the vehicle and close all of the
doors (including the backdoor) and the
bonnet.
3. Press the LOCK switch (A) on the key-
less entry switch in order to lock all thedoors (including the backdoor).

1.The display shows the number of
months and driving distance remaining until the next inspection.
2. When the next inspection is nearly due,
the display shows “-----”.
For further information, we recommend
you to consult a MITSUBISHI

At this time, a spanner mark is shown for a few seconds whenever the ignition
switch is turned from the “OFF” position
to the “ON” position.
3. When the vehicle is inspected at a
MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized
Service Point, the number of months and
driving distance remaining until the next inspection will be shown.
NOTEl The indicated distance decreases in steps of
100 km or (100 miles). The indicated num-ber of months decreases in steps of onemonth.
l It is possible to change the settings for the
service reminder.

thorized Service Point.Resetting the service reminder
With the ignition switch in the “OFF” posi-
tion, it is possible to reset the spanner mark (A) and “-----” indication (B). When they
have been reset, the number of months and
driving distance remaining until the next in- spection are shown and the spanner mark (A)
is no longer shown every time the ignition
switch is turned from the “OFF” position to the “ON” position.

NOTElThe engine electronic control module ac-
commodating the onboard diagnostic system has various fault data (especially about the
exhaust emission) stored.
This data will be erased if a battery cable is
disconnected which will make a rapid diag- nosis difficult. Do not disconnect a batterycable when the check engine warning lamp

the ignition switch is turnedto the “ON” position, and goes off after the engine has
started.
CAUTIONl If it illuminates while the engine is running,
there is a problem in the charging system. In

the ignition switch is turnedto the “ON” position, and goes off after the engine has
started. If it illuminates
while the engine is running,
the oil pressure is too low. Turn the engine off and have it inspected.
CAUTIONl This warning lamp does not indicate the
amount of oil level in the engine. This must
be determined by checking the oil level on the dipstick, while the engine is switched off.
l If this lamp illuminates when the engine oil
level is not low, have it inspected.
l If you continue driving with low engine oil
level or with this warning lamp illuminated,
engine seizure may occur.Door ajar warning lamp

a door or the backdoor is ei-
ther open or incompletely closed.
If the vehicle speed reaches approximately
8 km/h (5 mph) with a door or the backdoor open or incompletely closed, the warning
lamp flashes 8 times and a buzzer simultane- ously sounds 8 times as a warning.CAUTIONl Before moving your vehicle, check that the
warning lamp is OFF.NOTEl On vehicles with keyless entry system, the
lamp remains illuminated for a certain peri-
od and then goes out automatically.

the outside air temperature warning symbol (A) flashes for about 10 seconds.CAUTIONl There is a danger the road might be icy, even

To adjust the elevation
It is possible to adjust the currently indicated
elevation using the following function but-
tons:
“+”-Adjustment of elevation
The elevation increases by 50 m (200 ft) every time you lightlypush the “+” button.
If you continue pressing the but-
ton for about 2 seconds or more,
the elevation indication is fast-
forwarded. Then the setting is changed to the elevation selec-
ted.“-”-Adjustment of elevation
The elevation decreases by 50 m (200 ft) every time you lightlypush the “-” button.
If you continue pressing the but- ton for about 2 seconds or more,
the elevation indication is fast-
forwarded. Then the setting is changed to the elevation selec-
ted.NOTEl The elevation is determined from changes in
atmospheric pressure. Depending on weather
conditions, the indicated elevation may dif- fer from the actual elevation. Variations in
atmospheric pressure can cause different ele- vations to be shown even in the same loca-
tion. This behavior does not indicate a fault.
