■Temporary cancellation of functions
When operation conditions are no longer met, a function may be temporarily canceled.
However, when the operation conditions are met again, operation of the function is auto-
matically restored. (P. 265)
■Steering control function
Depending on the vehicle speed, lane departure situation, road conditions, etc., the
driver may not feel the function is operating or the function may not operate at all.
■Lane departure alert function
The warning buzzer may be difficult to hear due to external noise, audio playback, etc.
Also, it may be difficult to feel steering wh eel vibrations due to the road conditions, etc.
■Hands off steering wheel alert
Except for Israel: When the system determines that the driver has removed the hands
from the steering wheel while the steering cont rol function is operating, a warning mes-
sage is displayed on the multi-information display.
If the driver continues to keep the hands off of the steering wheel, the buzzer sounds, a
warning message is displayed and the function is temporarily canceled. This alert also
operates in the same way when the vehicle is driven with the steering wheel lightly
gripped. However, depending on the road conditions, etc., the function may not cancel.
For Israel: When the system determines that the driver has removed the hands from the
steering wheel while the steering control functi on is operating, a warning message is dis-
played on the multi-information display and the buzzer sounds.
■White (yellow) lines are only on one side of road
The LDA system will not operate for the side on which white (yellow) lines could not be
recognized.

■If the windshield is fogged up while the engine is stopped by the Stop & Start system
Turn on. (The engine will start due to the automatic engine start function.):
P. 458
If the windshield fogs up frequently, press the Stop & Start cancel switch to disable the
system.
■If an odor comes from the air conditioning system while the engine is stopped by the
Stop & Start system
Press the Stop & Start cancel switch to deactivate the Stop & Start system.
■Air conditioning system operation while the engine is stopped by the Stop & Start sys-
tem
●If the air conditioning system is being us ed in automatic mode, the fan speed may be
reduced or the fan may be stopped while the engine is stopped by the Stop & Start sys-
tem in order to reduce changes in the cabin temperature.
●To ensure air conditioning system performanc e when the vehicle is stopped, disable the
Stop & Start system by pressing the Stop & Start cancel switch.
■Changing the idling stop time with the air conditioning system on
The length of time the Stop & Start system will operate when the air conditioning system
is on can be changed by performing the followi ng operation. (The length of time the Stop
& Start system will operate when the air condit ioning system is off cannot be changed.)
●Setting by pressing and holding the Stop & Start cancel switch
Each time the Stop & Start cancel switch is pressed and held for 3 seconds or more, the
system changes between standard and extended. The system status can be confirmed
on the multi-information display screen. ( P. 97)
●Settings using the multi-information display
( P. 106) or ( P. 107).
■The Stop & Start system protection function
●When the volume of the audio system is ex cessively high, sound output from the audio
system may suddenly be cut of f in order to reduce battery consumption. To prevent the
audio system from being cut off, keep the vo lume of audio system at a moderate level.
If the audio system has been cut off, turn the engine switch off, wait for 3 seconds or
more and then turn it to ACCESSORY mode or IGNITION ON mode to re-enable
the audio system.
●The audio system may not be activated if the battery terminals are disconnected and
then reconnected. If this occurs, turn the engine switch off and then turn it to IGNI-
TION ON mode and then off twice to activate the audio system.
■To prevent damage to the turbocharger
Allow the engine to idle immediately after driving at high speeds or long periods of uphill
driving. To allow the engine idle when the vehicle is stopped, disable the Stop & Start sys-
tem by pressing the Stop & Start cancel switch. ( P. 292)

WARNING
●The shape of the obstacle may prevent a sensor from detecting it. Pay particular
attention to the following obstacles:
• Wires, fences, ropes, etc.
• Cotton, snow and other materials that absorb sound waves
• Sharply-angled objects
• Low obstacles
• Tall obstacles with upper sections projecting outwards in the direction of your vehicle
• People, animals and other moving objects
• People wearing certain types of clothing
●The following situations may occur during use.
• Depending on the shape of the obstacle and other factors, the detection distance may shorten, or detection may be impossible.
• Obstacles may not be detected if they are too close to the sensor.
• There will be a short delay between obstacle detection and display. Even at slow speeds, there is a possibility that the obstacle will come within the sensor’s detec-
tion areas before the display is shown and the buzzer sounds.
• Thin posts or objects lower than the sensor may not be detected when approached, even if they have been detected once.
• It might be difficult to hear beeps due to the volume of audio system or air flow
noise of the air conditioning system.
NOTICE
■When using Lexus parking assist-sensor
In the following situations, the system may not function correctly due to a sensor mal-
function, etc. Have the vehicle checked by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
●The Lexus parking assist-sensor operation display flashes, and a buzzer sounds when
no obstacles are detected.
●If the area around a sensor collides with something, or is subjected to strong impact.
●If the bumper collides with something.
●If the display shows continuously without beeping, except when the buzzer mute
switch has been turned on.
●If a display error occurs, first check the sensor.
If the error occurs even if there is no ice, snow or mud on the sensor, it is likely that the
sensor is malfunctioning.
■Notes when washing the vehicle
Do not apply intensive bursts of water or steam to the sensor area.
Doing so may result in the sensor malfunctioning.
