pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Infor-
mation label located in the driver’s door open-
ing, seeTire and loading information label in
the 9. Maintenance and Schedules section.
The low tire pressure warning light does not
automatically turn off when the tire pressure is
adjusted. After the tire is inflated to the recom-
mended pressure, the vehicle must be driven at
speeds above 16 MPH (25 km/h) to activate the
TPMS and turn off the low tire pressure warning
light. Use a tire pressure gauge to check the tire
pressure.
The low tire pressure warning message appears
each time the ignition switch is placed in the ON
position as long as the low tire pressure warn-
ing light remains illuminated.
For additional information, see Vehicle infor-
mation display later in this section and Tire
Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) in the
5. Starting and driving section.
TPMS malfunction
:
If the TPMS is not functioning properly, the low
tire pressure warning light will flash for approxi-
mately 1 minute when the ignition switch is
placed in the ON position. The light will remain
on after 1 minute. Have the system checked. It is
recommended that you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service. The low tire pressure warning
does not appear if the low tire pressure warning
light illuminates to indicate a TPMS malfunc-
tion.
For additional information, see
Tire Pressure
Monitoring System (TPMS) in the5. Starting
and driving section.
WARNING
•Radio waves could adversely affect electric
medical equipment. Those who use a pace-
maker should contact the electric medical
equipment manufacturer for the possible in-
fluences before use.
•If the light does not illuminate with the ig-
nition switch pushed ON, have the vehicle
checked. It is recommended you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.
•If the light illuminates while driving, avoid
sudden steering maneuvers or abrupt brak-
ing, reduce vehicle speed, pull off the road
to a safe location and stop the vehicle as
soon as possible. Driving with under-
inflated tires may permanently damage the
tires and increase the likelihood of tire fail-
ure. Serious vehicle damage could occur
and may lead to an accident and could result
in serious personal injury or death. Check the tire pressure for all four tires. Adjust the
tire pressure to the recommended COLD tire
pressure shown on the tire placard, located
in the driver’s door opening, to turn the low
tire pressure warning light off. If the light
still illuminates while driving after adjust-
ing the tire pressure, a tire may be flat. If you
have a flat tire, replace it with a replacement
tire as soon as possible.
•If a replacement tire is mounted or a wheel
is replaced without a TPMS sensor tire pres-
sure will not be indicated, the TPMS will not
function and the low tire pressure warning
light will flash for approximately 1 minute.
The light will remain on after 1 minute. Have
your vehicle’s tires replaced and/or TPMS
system reset as soon as possible. It is rec-
ommended you visit an INFINITI retailer for
these services.
•Replacing tires with those not originally
specified by INFINITI could affect the proper
operation of the TPMS.
CAUTION
•The TPMS is not a substitute for the regular
tire pressure check. Be sure to check the tire
pressure regularly.
2-10Instruments and controls
The vehicle’s wheels have sensors fitted that
monitor the tire pressures in all four tires The
tire pressure monitor warns you if the pressure
drops in one or more of the tires The tire
pressure monitor only functions if the corre-
sponding sensors are fitted to all wheels.
Information on tire pressures is shown in the
vehicle information display. After a few minutes
of driving, the current tire pressure of each tire
is shown in the [Serv.] menu of the vehicle
information display.
WARNING
•Radio waves could adversely affect electri-
cal medical equipment. Those who use a
pacemake should contact their electrical
medical equipment manufacturer for the
pssible influences before use.
•If the low tire pressure warning light illumi-
nates or a tire pressure-related warning is
displayed by the vehicle information dis-
play while driving, avoid sudden steering
maneuvers or abrupt braking, reduce ve-
hicle speed, pull off the road to a safe loca-
tion and stop the vehicle as soon as pos-
sible. Driving with under-inflated tires may
permanently damage the tires and increase
the likelihood of tire failure. Serious vehicle
damage could occur and may lead to an ac-cident and could result in serious personal
injury. Check the tire pressure for all four
tires. Adjust the tire pressure to the recom-
mended COLD tire pressure shown on the
tire and loading information label to turn
the low tire pressure warning light OFF. If
you have a flat tire, replace it with a replace-
ment tire as soon as possible.
•If a replacement wheel is fitted without an
INFINITI TPMS Sensor, the TPMS will not
function and the low tire pressure warning
light will flash for approximately 1 minute.
The light will remain on after 1 minute. It is
recommended you contact an INFINITI re-
tailer as soon as possible for tire replace-
ment and/or system resetting.
•For models with run-flat tires, although you
can continue driving with a punctured run-
flat tire, remember that vehicle handling
stability is reduced, which could lead to an
accident and personal injury. Also, driving a
long distance at high speeds may damage
the tires.
– Do not drive at speeds above 50 MPH (80
km/h) and do not drive more than ap-
proximately 93 miles (150 km) with a
punctured run-flat tire. The actual dis-
tance the vehicle can be driven on a flat

will flash for approximately 1 minute. The
light will remain on after 1 minute. It is rec-
ommended you Contact an INFINITI retailer
as soon as possible for tire replacement
and/or system resetting.
•Replacing tires with those not originally
specified by INFINITI could affect the proper
operation of the TPMS.
•If you used Emergency Tire Sealant to repair
a minor tire puncture, the TPMS sensor
should be checked when repairing or re-
placing the tire. It is recommended you visit
an INFINITI retailer for this service.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
monitors tire pressure of all tires. When the low
tire pressure warning light is lit, and a tire
pressure-related warning (if equipped) appears
in the vehicle information display, one or more
of your tires is significantly under-inflated. If
the vehicle is being driven with low tire pres-
sure, the TPMS will activate and warn you of it
by the low tire pressure warning light (in the
meter panel). This system will activate only
when the vehicle is driven at speeds above 16
MPH (25 km/h). For more details about the TPMS, see
Tire
Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) in the
5. Starting and driving section.
STOPPING VEHICLE
WARNING
•Be sure to apply the parking brake firmly.
•Be sure that P (Park) is engaged.
•Never change tires when the vehicle is on a
slope, ice or slippery area. This is hazard-
ous.
•Never change tires when the oncoming traf-
fic is close to your vehicle. Call for profes-
sional road assistance.
1. Safely move the vehicle off the road away from traffic.
2. Turn on the hazard indicator flasher lights.
3. Park on a level surface.
4. Apply the parking brake.
5. Press the P (Park) button.
6. Turn off the engine. 7. Open the hood and set up the triangle
reflector (if equipped):
•To warn other traffic.
•To signal professional road assistance
personnel that you need assistance.
8. Have all passengers get out of the vehicle and stand in a safe place, away from other
traffic and clear of the vehicle.
In case of emergency6-3
Confirm the following for the TPMS:
WARNING
•The use of tires other than those recom-
mended or the mixed use of tires of different
brands, construction (bias, bias-belted or
radial), or tread patterns can adversely af-
fect the ride, braking, handling, VDC sys-
tem, ground clearance, body-to-tire clear-
ance, tire chain clearance, speedometer
calibration, headlight aim and bumper
height. Some of these effects may lead to
accidents and could result in serious per-
sonal injury.
•For 2WD models, if your vehicle was origi-
nally equipped with 4 tires that were the
same size and you are only replacing 2 of
the 4 tires, install the new tires on the rear
axle. Placing new tires on the front axle may
cause loss of vehicle control in some driving
conditions and cause an accident and per-
sonal injury.
•If the wheels are changed for any reason,
always replace with wheels which have the
same off-set dimension. Wheels of a differ-
ent off-set could cause premature tire wear,
degrade vehicle handling characteristics,
affect the VDC system and/or interference
with the brake discs. Such interference canlead to decreased braking efficiency and/or
early brake pad wear. For additional infor-
mation on wheel off-set dimensions, refer to
Wheels and Tires
in the9. Maintenance
and Schedules section.
•When a replacement tire is mounted or a
wheel is replaced, the TPMS will not func-
tion and the low tire pressure warning light
will flash for approximately 1 minute. The
light will remain on after 1 minute. Contact
an INFINITI retailer as soon as possible for
tire replacement and/or system resetting.
•Replacing tires with those not originally
specified by INFINITI could affect the proper
operation of the TPMS.
•The TPMS sensor may be damaged if it is not
handled correctly. Be careful when handling
the TPMS sensor.
•When replacing the TPMS sensor, the ID
registration may be required. It is recom-
mended that you visit an INFINITI retailer for
ID registration.
•Do not use a valve stem cap that is not speci-
fied by INFINITI. The valve stem cap may
become stuck.
•Be sure that the valve stem caps are cor-
rectly fitted. Otherwise the valve may be clogged up with dirt and cause a malfunc-
tion or loss of pressure.
•Do not install a damaged or deformed wheel
or tire even if it has been repaired. Such
wheels or tires could have structural dam-
age and could fail without warning.
•The use of retread tires is not recom-
mended.
•For additional information regarding tires,
refer to
Important Tire Safety Information
(US) or Tire Safety Information (Canada) in
the Warranty Information Booklet.
Care of wheels
•Wash the wheels when washing the vehicle
to maintain their appearance.
•Clean the inner side of the wheels when the
wheel is changed or the underside of the
vehicle is washed.
•Do not use abrasive cleaners when washing
the wheels.
•Inspect wheel rims regularly for dents or
corrosion. Such damage may cause loss of
pressure or poor seal at the tire bead.
