WARNING
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause the driver’s floor mat to slip, possibly interfering
with the pedals while driving. An unexpectedly high speed may result or it may
become difficult to stop the vehicle. This could lead to an accident, resulting in
death or serious injury.
nWhen installing the driver’s floor mat
lDo not use floor mats designed for other models or different model year
vehicles, even if they are Toyota Genuine floor mats.
l Only use floor mats designed for the driver’s seat.
l Always install the floor mat securely using the retaining hooks (clips) pro-
vided.
l Do not use two or more floor mats on top of each other.
l Do not place the floor mat bottom-side up or upside-down.
n Before driving
lCheck that the floor mat is securely
fixed in the correct place with all the
provided retaining hooks (clips). Be
especially careful to perform this check
after cleaning the floor.
l With the hybrid system stopped and the
shift lever in P, fully depress each pedal
to the floor to make sure it does not
interfere with the floor mat.

The alarm uses light and sound to give an alert when an intrusion is
detected.
The alarm is triggered in the following situations when the alarm is
set:
lA locked door or trunk is unlocked or opened in any way other than
using the entry function, wireless remote control or mechanical key.
(The doors will lock again automatically.)
l The hood is opened.
l Some models: The window is tapped or broken.
Close the doors, trunk and hood,
and lock all the doors. The system
will be set automatically after 30
seconds.
The indicator light changes from
being on to flashing when the sys-
tem is set.
Do one of the following to deactivate or stop the alarm:
l Unlock the doors or trunk. If the alarm does not stop even when the
wireless remote control is operated, repeat the operation until the
alarm stops.
l Turn the power switch to ACCESSORY or ON mode, or start the
hybrid system. (The alarm will be de activated or stopped after a few
seconds.)

Warning lights inform the driver of malfunctions in the indicated vehi-
cle’s systems.
*1: These lights turn on when the power switch is turned to ON mode to indi- cate that a system check is being performed. They will turn off after the
hybrid system is on, or after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in
a system if a light does not come on, or if the lights do not turn off. Have
the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.

*7: When the outside temperature is approximately 37°F (3°C) or lower, theindicator will flash for approximately 10 seconds, then stay on.
WARNING
n If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS warning lights not
come on when you start the hybrid system, this could mean that these sys-
tems are not available to help protect you in an accident, which could r\
esult
in death or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately if this occurs.

nThe meters and display illuminate when
The power switch is in ON mode.
n The brightness of the in strument panel lights
When the tail lights are turned on, the meter’s brightness will be reduced
slightly unless the meter brightness level adjustment is set to the brightest
setting.
If the tail lights are turned on when the surroundings are dark, the meter’s
brightness will reduce slightly. Howe ver, when the surroundings are bright,
such as during the daytime, the meter’s brightness will not be reduced even if
the tail lights are turned on.
n Hybrid System Indicator
lBy keeping the indicator needle within Eco area, more Eco-friendly driving
can be achieved.
l Charge area indicates regeneration
* status. Regenerated energy will be
used to charge the battery.
*: When used in this manual, “regeneration” refers to the conversion of
energy created by the movement of the vehicle into electrical energy.
n Engine speed
On hybrid vehicles, engine speed is precisely controlled in order to help
improve fuel efficiency and reduce exhaust emissions etc.
There are times when the engine speed that is displayed may differ even
when vehicle operation and driving conditions are the same.Charge area
Shows regenerative charging.
Hybrid Eco area
Shows that gasoline engine power is
not being used very often.
The gasoline engine will automatically
stop and restart under various condi-
tions.
Eco area
Shows that the vehicle is being driven in
an Eco-friendly manner.
Power area
Shows that an Eco-friendly driving
range is being exceeded (during full
power driving etc.)

Operation of each component

To take out the mechanical key,
push the release button and take
the key out.
The mechanical key can only be
inserted in one direction, as the
key only has grooves on one side.
If the key cannot be inserted in a
lock cylinder, turn it over and re-
attempt to insert it.
After using the mechanical key, store it in the electronic key. Carry the
mechanical key together with the electronic key. If the electronic key bat-
tery is depleted or the entry function does not operate properly, you will
need the mechanical key. (P. 487)
nPanic mode
n When required to leave the vehicle’s key with a parking attendant
Lock the glove box as circumstances demand. ( P. 346)
Remove the mechanical key for your own use and provide the attendant with
the electronic key only.
n If you lose your keys
New genuine keys can be made by your Toyota dealer using the other
mechanical key and the key number stamped on your key number plate.
Keep the plate in a safe place such as your wallet, not in the vehicle.
n When riding in an aircraft
When bringing an electronic key onto an aircraft, make sure you do not press
any button on the electronic key while inside the aircraft cabin. If you are car-
rying an electronic key in your bag etc., ensure that the buttons are not likely
to be pressed accidentally. Pressing a button may cause the electronic key to
emit radio waves that could interfere with the operation of the aircraft.

Using the mechanical key
When is pressed for longer than
about one second, an alarm will sound
intermittently and the vehicle lights will
flash to deter any person from trying to
break into or damage your vehicle.
To stop the alarm, press any button on the
electronic key.
