2825-6. Using an external device
CAMRY_HV_U (OM33C35U)l
MP3, WMA and AAC playback
• When a device containing MP3, WMA and AAC files is connected, all
files in the USB memory device are checked. Once the file check is fin-
ished, the first MP3, WMA and AAC file is played. To make the file check
finish more quickly, we recommend that you do not include any files other
than MP3, WMA and AAC files or create any unnecessary folders.
• When a USB memory device is connected and the audio source is
changed to USB memory mode, the USB memory device will start play-
ing the first file in the first folder. If the same device is removed and
reconnected (and the con- tents have not been changed), the USB mem-
ory device will resume play from the same point in which it was last used.
l Extensions
If the file extensions .mp3, .wma and .m4a are used for files other than
MP3, WMA and AAC files, they will be skipped (not played).
l Playback
• To play MP3 files with steady sound quality, we recommend a fixed bit
rate of at least 128 kbps and a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz.
• There is a wide variety of freeware and other encoding software for MP3, WMA and AAC files on the market, and depending on the status of the
encoding and the file format, poor sound quality or noise at the start of
playback may result. In some cases, playback may not be possible at all.\

WARNING
nWhile driving
Do not connect a USB memory device or operate the device controls.
NOTICE
nTo prevent damage to the USB memory device or its terminals
lDo not leave the USB memory device in the vehicle. The temperature
inside the vehicle may become high, resulting in damage to the USB
memory device.
l Do not push down on or apply unnecessary pressure to the USB memory
device while it is connected.
l Do not insert foreign objects into the port.

nRelease Tones
lA continuous tone signal is a character string that consists of numbers and
the characters p or w. (e.g.056133w0123p#1 )
l When the “p” pause tone is used, the tone data up until the next pause tone
will be automatically sent after 2 seconds have elapsed. When the “w”
pause tone is used, the tone data up until the next pause tone will be auto-
matically sent after a user operation is performed.
l Release tones can be used when automated operation of a phone based
service such as an answering machine or bank phone service is desired. A\
phone number with continuous tone signals can be registered in the contact
list.
l Tone data after a “w” pause tone can be operated on voice command during

Radio Frequency Radiation Exposure
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for
uncontrolled equipment and meets the FCC radio frequency (RF) Exposure
Guidelines. This equipment has very lo w levels of RF energy that it deemed
to comply without maximum permissive exposure evaluation (MPE). But it is
desirable that it should be installed and operated with at least 20 cm and
more between the radiator and person's body in normal use position.

3386-1. Using the air conditioning system and defogger
CAMRY_HV_U (OM33C35U)
nOperation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode
In Eco drive mode, the air conditioning system is controlled as follows to pri-
oritize fuel efficiency:
lEngine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/cool-
ing capacity
l Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
To improve air conditioning performance, perform the following operations:
l Adjust the fan speed
l Turn off Eco drive mode
n Using automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting and
the ambient conditions.
Therefore, the fan may stop for a while until warm or cool air is ready to flow
immediately after is pressed.
n Fogging up of the windows
lThe windows will easily fog up when the humidity in the vehicle is high.
Turning on will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog the wind-
shield effectively.
l If you turn off, the windows may fog up more easily.
l The windows may fog up if the recirculated air mode is used.
n Windshield fog detection function
When automatic mode is set, the humidity sensor (P. 340) detects fog on
the windshield and controls the air conditioning system to prevent fog.
n Outside/recirculated air mode
lWhen driving on dusty roads such as tunnels or in heavy traffic, set the out-
side/recirculated air mode button to recirculated air mode. This is effective in
preventing outside air from entering the vehicle interior. During cooling oper-
ation, setting the recirculated air mode will also cool the vehicle interior
effectively.
l Outside/recirculated air mode may automatically switch depending on the
temperature setting or the inside temperature.
n When the outside temperature exceeds 75°F (24°C) and the air condition-
ing system is on
lIn order to reduce the air conditioning power consumption, the air condition-
ing system may switch to recirculated air mode automatically. This may also
reduce fuel consumption.
l Recirculated air mode is selected as a default mode when the power switch
is turned to ON mode.
l It is possible to switch to outside air mode at any time by pressing .

CAMRY_HV_U (OM33C35U)n
When the outside temperature is low
The dehumidification function may not operate even when is pressed.
n Ventilation and air conditioning odors
lTo let fresh air in, set the air conditioning system to the outside air mode.
l During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle may enter into
and accumulate in the air conditioning system. This may then cause odor to
be emitted from the vents.
l To reduce potential odors from occurring:
• It is recommended that the air conditioning system be set to outside air
mode prior to turning the vehicle off.
• The start timing of the blower may be delayed for a short period of time
immediately after the air conditioning system is started in automatic
mode.
n Air conditioning filter
P. 423
n Customization
The air conditioning control of Eco drive mode can be changed to the same
setting as that used in normal drive mode.
(Customizable features P. 536)
WARNING
nTo prevent the windshield from fogging up
lDo not use during cool air operation in extremely humid weather.
The difference between the temperature of the outside air and that of the
windshield can cause the outer surface of the windshield to fog up, block-
ing your vision.
n To prevent burns
Do not touch the rear view mirror surfaces when the outside rear view mirror
defoggers are on.
lDo not place anything on the instrument
panel which may cover the air outlets.
Otherwise, air flow may be obstructed,
preventing the windshield defoggers
from defogging.
