●The system is designed to automatically
check the sensor’s functionality, within
certain limitations. The system may not
detect some forms of obstructions of
the sensor area such as ice, snow, stick-
ers, etc. In these cases, the system may
not be able to worn the driver properly.
Be sure that you check, clean and clear
the sensor area regularly.
● Excessive noise will interfere with the
warning chime sound, and the chime
may not be heard.

SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
Condition A
When the radar sensor picks up interference
from another radar source, making it impossible
to detect a vehicle ahead, the FEB system is
automatically turned off.
The FEB system warning light (orange) will illu-
minate.
Action to take
When the above conditions no longer exist, the
FEB system will resume automatically.
Condition B
When the sensor area of the front bumper is
covered with dirt or is obstructed, making it im-
possible to detect a vehicle ahead, the FEB sys-
tem is automatically turned off.
The FEB system warning light (orange) will illu-
minate and the “front radar obstruction” warning
message will appear in the vehicle information
display.
Action to take
If the warning light (orange) comes on, stop the
vehicle in a safe place, place the shift lever in the
P (Park) position and turn the hybrid system off.Clean the radar cover on the lower grille with a
soft cloth, and restart the hybrid system. If the
warning light continues to illuminate, have the
FEB system checked. It is recommended that you
visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
NOTE:
If the FEB system stops working, the PFCW
system (if so equipped) will also stop work-
ing.
SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
If the FEB system malfunctions, it will be turned
off automatically, a chime will sound, the FEB
warning light (orange) will illuminate and the
warning message [Malfunction] will appear in the
vehicle information display.
Action to take
If the warning light (orange) comes on, stop the
vehicle in a safe location, turn the hybrid system
off and restart the hybrid system. If the warning
light continues to illuminate, have the FEB sys-
tems checked. It is recommended that you visit
an INFINITI retailer for this service.
SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The radar sensorAis located behind the lower
grille of the front bumper.
To keep the system operating properly, be sure to
observe the following:
● Always keep the sensor area of the front
bumper clean.
● Do not strike or damage the areas around
the sensor.
● Do not cover or attach stickers or similar
objects on the front bumper near the sensor
area. This could cause failure or malfunction.

●Do not attach metallic objects near the sen-
sor area (brush guard, etc.) . This could
cause failure or malfunction.
● Do not alter, remove or paint the front bum-
per. Before customizing or restoring the
front bumper, it is recommended that you
visit an INFINITI retailer.

●The PFEB system does not function in
all driving, traffic, weather and road
conditions.
The PFEB system can assist the driver when
there is a risk of a forward collision with the
vehicle ahead or pedestrian in the travelling lane.
The PFEB system detects a vehicle ahead and
pedestrian using a multi-sensing front camera

located on the upper side of the windshield.

SYSTEM OPERATION
The PFEB system operates when vehicle speed
is within the range of approximately 5 to 50 mph
(10 to 80 km/h).
(The system will not activate for a stationary ve-
hicle or a pedestrian when the vehicle is driven at
speeds faster than approximately 37 mph
(60 km/h).)
If a risk of a forward collision is detected, the
PFEB system will provide the first warning to the
driver by flashing the warning light, providing an
audible warning and applying partial braking.
If the driver’s collision avoidance operation is not
sufficient and the risk of collision is increased, the
system issues the second visual warning and
audible warning, and applies harder braking im-
mediately before the collision.
NOTE:
The vehicle’s stop lights come on when
braking is performed by the PFEB system.
Depending on vehicle speed and distance to the
vehicle ahead or pedestrian, as well as driving
and roadway conditions, the system may help the
driver avoid a forward collision or may help miti-
gate the consequences if a collision should one
be unavoidable.If the driver is handling the steering wheel, accel-
erating or braking, the PFEB system will function
later or will not function.
The automatic braking will cease under the fol-
lowing conditions:
● When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary to avoid a collision.
● When the accelerator pedal is depressed.
● When there is no longer a vehicle or a pe-
destrian detected ahead.
If the PFEB system has stopped the vehicle, the
vehicle will remain at a standstill for approximately
2 seconds before the brakes are released.
PFEB SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
● The multi-sensing front camera unit
does not detect the following objects:
– Children and other people who are of short stature, animals, and
bicycles
– Pedestrians walking at night or in dark areas such as tunnels
– Oncoming vehicles – Crossing vehicles
– Vehicles parked diagonally
● The multi-sensing front camera unit
may not detect a vehicle or pedestrian
ahead in the following conditions:
– Visibility is poor because of bad weather conditions such as rain,
snow, fog, dust storms, sandstorms,
and snowstorms.
– Snow, sand or road spray from trav- eling vehicles.
– The windshield glass in front of the camera is covered with dirt, water
drops, ice, snow, etc.
– The windshield glass in front of the camera is fogged up.
– Strong light (for example, sunlight or high beams from oncoming vehicles)
enters from the front.
– The headlights did not illuminate during the nighttime or in a tunnel, or
the headlight lenses are extremely
dirty.
– Both tail lights of the vehicle ahead do not illuminate at night or inside a
tunnel.

– When a sudden change in brightnessoccurs. (For example, when the ve-
hicle enters or exits a tunnel or a
shaded area.)
– On roads where there are sharp curves.
– The vehicle drives on a slope where the gradient changes.
– The vehicle drives on a bumpy road surface, such as an uneven dirt road.
– The system cannot recognize the outline of a person because the pe-
destrian is carrying large luggage or
is wearing clothes that are the same
color as the background.
● Depending on the ambient noise, the
audible warning may not be heard.
● In the following conditions, the system
may not be able to function normally:
– The vehicle is driven on a slippery road.
– The vehicle drives on a slope.
– When excessively heavy baggage is loaded in the rear seat or the luggage
room of your vehicle.

TURNING THE PFEB SYSTEM
ON/OFF
The PFEB system can be turned on or off using
the warning systems switch on the instrument
panel or “Settings” in the vehicle information dis-
play.
When the system is off, the indicator light on the
switch turns off and the FEB system warning light
will illuminate.
The PFEB system will be automatically turned
ON when the hybrid system is restarted.
Using the PFEB system/ emergency assist
for pedal misapplication system switch:
To turn the system on or off, push the warning
systems switch on the instrument panel. The
ignition switch must be in the “ON” position when
turning on or off the system.
Using “Settings” in the vehicle information
display:1. Press the
button until “Settings” dis-
plays in the vehicle information display. Use
the
button to select “Driver Assis-
tance”. Then press the ENTER button.
2. Select “Emergency Braking” and press the ENTER button. 3. Select “System” and press the ENTER but-
ton to turn the system ON or OFF.
When the PFEB system is turned off, the FEB
system warning light illuminates.
NOTE:
The FEB system will be automatically
turned on when the hybrid system is re-
started.
SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
In the following conditions, the FEB system warn-
ing light blinks and the system will be turned off
automatically:
– The multi-sensing front camera unit cannot recognize the front view because the wind-
shield glass is covered with dirt, etc.
– The multi-sensing front camera unit cannot recognize the front view because strong light
is shining from the front.
– The temperature of the multi-sensing front camera unit is high because the vehicle is
parked under the direct sunlight. (When the
interior temperature is reduced, the system
will resume operating automatically.)
SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
If the PFEB system malfunctions, it will be turned
off automatically, the FEB system warning light
will illuminate and the system malfunction warn-
ing message will appear in the vehicle information
display.
Action to take:
If the warning light illuminates, park the vehicle in
a safe location, turn the hybrid system off and
restart the hybrid system. If the warning light
continues to illuminate, have the PFEB system
checked. It is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The multi-sensing front camera unit1for the
PFEB system is located on the upper side of the
windshield. To maintain the proper operation of
the PFEB system and prevent a system malfunc-
tion, be sure to observe the following:
● Always keep the windshield clean.
● Do not attach a sticker (including transpar-
ent material) or install an accessory near the
multi-sensing front camera unit. ●
Do not place reflective materials, such as
white paper or a mirror, on the instrument
panel. The reflection of sunlight may ad-
versely affect the multi-sensing front camera
unit’s detection capability.
● Do not strike or damage the areas around
the camera unit. Do not touch the camera
lens or remove the screw located on the
camera unit. If the camera unit is damaged
due to an accident, it is recommended that
you visit an INFINITI retailer.
WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and instruc-
tions for proper use of the PFCW system
could result in serious injury or death.
●The PFCW system can help warn the
driver before a collision occurs but will
not avoid a collision. It is the driver’s
responsibility to stay alert, drive safely
and be in control of the vehicle at all
times.
The PFCW system can help alert the driver when
there is a sudden braking of a second vehicle
traveling in front of the vehicle ahead in the same
lane.
