To prevent damage to the conduc-
tors located under the rear win-
dow surface, never use sharp
instruments or window cleaners
containing abrasives to clean the
window.
Information
If you want to defrost and defog the
front windshield, refer to “Windshield
defrosting and defogging” in this chap-
ter.
Rear window defroster
The defroster heats the window to
remove frost, fog and thin ice from
the rear window, while the engine is
running.
To activate the rear window
defroster, press the rear window
defroster button located on the cen-
ter facia switch panel. The rear win-
dow defroster indicator illuminates
when the defroster is ON.
If there is a heavy accumulation of
snow on the rear window, brush it off
before operating the rear defroster.The rear window defroster automati-
cally turns OFF after approximately
20 minutes or when the ignition
switch is turned OFF. To turn OFF the
defroster, press the rear window
defroster button again.
Outside rearview mirror
defroster
If your vehicle is equipped with the
outside rearview mirror defrosters,
they operate at the same time when
the rear window defroster is turned
ON.
Front wiper deicer
If your vehicle is equipped with the
front wiper deicer, it operate at the
same time when the rear window
defroster is turned ON.

Automatic heating and air con-
ditioning
1. Press the AUTO button.
The modes, fan speeds, air intake
and air-conditioning will be controlled
automatically according to the tem-
perature setting.2. Turn the temperature control knob
for front seats or press the temper-
ature control button for rear seats
to set the desired temperature.

• To turn the automatic operation OFF,select any button among the follow-
ings and press:
- Mode selection button
- Front windshield defrost button(Press the button one more time to
deselect the front windshield
defroster function. The 'AUTO'
sign will illuminate on the infor-
mation display once again.)
- Fan speed control button
The selected function will be con-
trolled manually while other func-
tions operate automatically.
• For your convenience and improved climate control effects, use the
AUTO button and set the tempera-
ture at 73°F (23°C).
Information
Never place anything near the sensor
for better control of the heating and
cooling system.

Manual air heating and cooling
The heating and cooling system can
be controlled manually by pushing
buttons except the AUTO button. In
this case, the system works sequen-
tially according to the order of button
selection. When pressing any button
except the AUTO button in automatic
mode, the selected function will
changed not to be controlled auto-
matically.
1. Start the engine.
2. Set the mode, as desired.For improved heating and cooling
effects:- Heating:
- Cooling:
3. Set the temperature control, as desired.
4. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.
5. Set the fan speed control, as desired.
6. If air conditioning operation is needed, turn the air conditioning
system ON.
Press the AUTO button in order to
convert to the full automatic mode of
the climate control system.
3 Zone control button
1. Press the 3 zone control button to separately set the front passen-
ger's temperature, rear side tem-
perature, and rear side mode. The
3 zone control indicator will illumi-
nate. Pressing the rear side tem-
perature button, rear side mode
button or turning the front passen-
ger's temperature knob will acti-
vate the 3 zone control mode as
well.
2. Press the 3 zone control button again to deactivate the 3 zone
control mode. The front passen-
ger's temperature, rear side tem-
perature, and rear side mode will
be set as the driver's side mode.
Information
You can activate or deactivate the rear
climate control button on the rear
armrest by pressing the RSE
LOCKED button on the rear armrest
or on AVN(Audio, Video, and
Navigation).

Rear air outlet (F)
The air flow of the rear air outlets is controlled by the front climate control system, and the air is delivered through the air duct of the front doors. If the
door is open or not securely closed, the air flow to the rear air outlet can be
improperly delivered. Make sure the front doors are closed completely.
The air flow from the rear air outlet may be weaker than the one from instru- ment panel air outlet due to the long air duct of the front doors.

Front button
The mode selection button controls
the air flow direction from the ventila-
tion system.The air flow outlet can be converted
as follows:
Face-Level (B, D, F, G)
Air flow is directed toward the upper
body and face. Additionally, each air
outlet port can be controlled and
directed manually.
Bi-Level (B, C, D, E, F, G, H)
Air flow is directed toward the face
and the floor.
Floor & Defrost
(A, C, E, D, G, H)
Most of the air flow is directed to the
floor and the windshield, while a
small amount of the air flow is direct-
ed to the side window defrosters.
Floor-Level (A, C, E, D, G, H)
Most of the air flow is directed to the
floor, while a small amount of the air
flow is directed to the windshield and
side window defrosters.

Rear button
If you press the rear button, the 3
ZONE indicator will illuminate, and
you can adjust the rear mode individ-
ually. If you press the 3 ZONE button,
the 3 zone control indicator will be
turned OFF, and the rear mode will
be operated as the front mode.
The air flow outlet can be converted
as follows:
Face-level (G)
Air flow is directed toward the upper
body and face.
Bi-level (G, H)
Air flow is directed toward the face
and floor.
Floor level (G, H)
Air flow is directed toward the floor.
Information
When the front windshield defrost
button is pressed, the rear air flow will
be blocked.
Defrost-Level (A)
Most of the air flow is directed to the
windshield with a small amount of air
directed to the side window defrosters.
Instrument panel outlet
The outlets can be opened or closed
separately using the thumbwheel. To
close the outlet, rotate it in a counter-
clock-wise direction. To open the out-
let, rotate it in a clock-wise direction.
Also, you can adjust the air flow
direction from these outlets using the
vent control lever as shown.
