CAUTION
. Do not use leaded gasoline. Depos-
its from leaded gasoline willser-
iously reduce thethree-way
catalyst's abilitytohelp reduce ex- haust
pollutants.
. Keep yourengine tunedup.Mal-
functions inthe ignition, fuelinjec-
tion, orelectrical systemscancause
overrich fuelflow intothethree-way
catalyst, causingitto overheat. Do
not keep driving ifthe engine mis-
fires, orifnoticeable lossofperfor-
mance orother unusual operating
conditions aredetected. Havethe
vehicle inspected promptlybya
NISSAN dealer.
. Avoid driving withanextremely low
fuel level. Running outoffuel could
cause theengine tomisfire, dama-
ging thethree-way catalyst.
. Donot race theengine whilewarm-
ing itup.
. Do not push ortow your vehicle to

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYS-
TEM (TPMS)

Each tire,including thespare (ifprovided) ,
should bechecked monthlywhencoldand
inflated tothe inflation pressure recommended
by the vehicle manufacturer onthe vehicle
placard ortire inflation pressure label.(Ifyour vehicle
hastires ofadifferent sizethan thesize
indicated onthe vehicle placard ortire inflation
pressure label,youshould determine theproper
tire inflation pressure forthose tires.)
As anadded safetyfeature, yourvehicle has
been equipped withaTire Pressure Monitoring
System (TPMS) thatilluminates alow tire
pressure telltalewhenoneormore ofyour tires
is significantly under-inflated. Accordingly,when
the low tirepressure telltaleilluminates, you
should stopandcheck yourtiresassoon as
possible, andinflate themtothe proper pres-
sure. Driving onasignificantly under-inflated tire
causes thetiretooverheat andcanlead totire
failure. Under-inflation alsoreduces fueleffi-
ciency andtiretread life,and may affect the
vehicle's handlingandstopping ability.
Please notethattheTPMS isnot asubstitute for
proper tiremaintenance, anditis the driver's
responsibility tomaintain correcttirepressure,
even ifunder-inflation hasnotreached thelevel
to trigger illumination ofthe TPMS lowtire
pressure telltale.
Y our vehicle hasalso been equipped witha
TPMS malfunction indicatortoindicate whenthe
system isnot operating properly.The TPMS
malfunction indicatoriscombined withthelow
tire pressure telltale.Whenthesystem detects a
malfunction, thetelltale willflash forapproxi-

mately oneminute andthen remain continuously
illuminated. Thissequence willcontinue upon
subsequent vehiclestart-ups aslong asthe
malfunction exists.Whenthemalfunction indi-
cator isilluminated, thesystem maynotbeable
to detect orsignal lowtirepressure asintended.
TPMS malfunctions mayoccur foravariety of
reasons, including theinstallation ofreplace-
ment oralternate tiresorwheels onthe vehicle
that prevent theTPMS fromfunctioning properly.
Always checktheTPMS malfunction telltale
after replacing oneormore tiresorwheels on
your vehicle toensure thatthereplacement or
alternate tiresandwheels allowtheTPMS to
continue tofunction properly.

PRES warning message turnsoffwhen the
low tirepressure warninglightturns off.The
low tirepressure warninglightremains
illuminated untilthetires areinflated tothe
recommended COLDtirepressure. The
CHECK TIREPRES warning message is
displayed eachtimetheignition switchis
placed inthe ON position aslong asthe low
tire pressure warninglightremains illumi-
nated. ªCheck tirepressure warningmes-

. The CHECK TIREPRES warning message
is not displayed ifthe low tirepressure
warning lightilluminates toindicate aTPMS
malfunction.
. Tire pressure risesandfalls depending on
the heat caused bythe vehicle's operation
and theoutside temperature. Lowoutside
temperature canlower thetemperature of
the airinside thetire which cancause a
lower tireinflation pressure. Thismaycause
the low tirepressure warninglightto
illuminate. Ifthe warning lightilluminates inlow
ambient temperature, checkthetire
pressure forallfour tires.

or environmental conditionsinterferewiththe
Intelligent Key operation, starttheengine
according tothe following procedure:
1. Move theshift lever tothe P(Park) position

models) orthe shift lever tothe N(Neutral)
position (formanual transmission models).
2. Firmly applythefoot brake.
3. Touch theignition switchwiththeIntelligent
K ey as illustrated. (Achime willsound.) 4.
Push theignition switchwhiledepressing
the brake pedalwithin 10seconds afterthe
chime sounds. Theengine willstart.
After step3is performed, whentheignition
switch ispushed withoutdepressing thebrake
pedal, theignition switchposition willchange to
ACC.
NO TE:
. When theignition switchispushed to
the ACC orON position orthe engine is
started bythe above procedures, the
Intelligent Keysystem warning light
may blink inyellow evenifthe Intelli-
gent Keyisinside thevehicle. Thisis
not amalfunction. To stop thewarning
light from blinking, touchtheignition
switch withtheIntelligent Keyagain.
. Ifthe Intelligent Keysystem warning
light inthe meter isblinking ingreen,
replace thebattery assoon aspossible.

1. Apply theparking brake.

Manual Transmission (MT)models:
Move theshift lever tothe N(Neutral)
position. Depresstheclutch pedalfullyto
the floor.
The starter isdesigned nottooperate unless
the clutch pedalisfully depressed.
The Intelligent Keymust becarried
when operating theignition switch.
3. Push theignition switchtothe ON position.
Depress thebrake pedal(CVTmodels) or
the clutch pedal(MTmodels) andpush the
ignition switchtostart theengine.
T o start theengine immediately ,push and
release theignition switchwhiledepressing
the brake pedal withtheignition switchin
any position.

If the engine isvery hard tostart in
extremely coldweather orwhen restart-
ing, depress theaccelerator pedalalittle
(approximately 1/3tothe floor) andwhile
holding, cranktheengine. Release the
accelerator pedalwhentheengine starts.
.
If the engine isvery hard tostart because
it is flooded, depresstheaccelerator
pedal allthe way tothe floor andhold it.
Push theignition switchtothe ON
position tostart cranking theengine.
After 5or 6seconds, stopcranking by
pushing theignition switchtoOFF .After
cranking theengine, releasetheaccel-
erator pedal. Cranktheengine withyour
foot offthe accelerator pedalby
depressing thebrake pedal andpushing
the push-button ignitionswitchtostart
the engine. Ifthe engine starts,butfails
to run, repeat theabove procedure.
CAUTION
Do not operate thestarter formore
than 15seconds atatime. Ifthe engine
does notstart, pushtheignition switch
to OFF andwait 10seconds before
cranking again,otherwise thestarter
could bedamaged.
4. Warm-up
Allow theengine toidle foratleast 30
seconds afterstarting. Donot race the
engine whilewarming itup. Drive at
moderate speedforashort distance first, especially
incold weather. Incold weather,
keep theengine running foraminimum of2-
3 minutes beforeshutting itoff. Starting and
stopping theengine overashort period of
time maymake thevehicle moredifficult to
start.
When racing theengine upto4,000 rpmor
more under noload condition, theengine
will enter thefuel cutmode.
5. To stop theengine, movetheshift lever to
the P(Park) position (CVTmodels) ormove
the shift lever tothe N(Neutral) position(MT
models) ,and push theignition switchtothe
OFF position.
NO TE:
Care should betaken toavoid situations
that canlead topotential batterydischarge
and potential no-startconditions suchas:
1. Installation orextended useofelectro-
nic accessories thatconsume battery
power whentheengine isnot running
(Phone chargers, GPS,DVDplayers,
etc .)
2. Vehicle isnot driven regularly and/or
only driven shortdistances.
In these cases, thebattery mayneed tobe
charged tomaintain batteryhealth.
